One thing, though: there should be a jolly tune playing during the game - we hear the intro when you start, but why it's not playing I don't know. Probably because I knew Repton on the BBC Model B. Oh, and it sounded better as well.
The only problem, the music was loud coming out of the speaker on the Model B so we couldn't play it in the school computer room :( ;)
This was probably the first game I ever got really excited about. I remember vividly the first time a boulder dropped behind me, scaring me half to death.
The level design is cunning, almost devious. Even on the first level you must study the map to ensure you don't trap yourself or the diamonds.
I remember drawing my own Repton maps in the back of my school exercise books. :D
I think I enjoy watching the puzzle type retro games the most. Not sue why, maybe because I'm trying to figure things out along with you at the same time. Who knows?
As a rule, I don't like puzzle games. The Nintendo DS is chock full of them, and I can't stand the things, but Repton has always been one of those rare puzzlers that I'm fond of.
It looks like a fun game if you are into B-dash, not really my kind off game. I am more a Chips Challange man. Steve are you running low on electron games yet ?
Not running remotely low on Electron games yet... but I may throw in something different here and there, just in case any of you are getting bored with them.
repton on the acorn ruled i had all the sequels too classic thanks for the upload.

"First level is a piece of cake, bollo*!". That's mega! Your voice would be great for audio books, super clear and pleasing.
Always enjoy your vids Steve.

I think I'd enjoy doing audio books too... provided I'm allowed to say "bollox!" :D

I prefer Boulder Dash for the Atari myself.

The Electron only has one sound channel, compared to the 3 or so on the BBC, so it was almost always reserved for in game sound effects.
I know what you mean about the BBC being loud. I often wish there was a volume control, when I use mine.

I think I do.
I know my wife says it to me a lot... which can be kinda funny.

I think that game would get me very frustrated, memory and logical puzzles aren't my forte. Saying that it looks nice and has a good name :P

Superior Interactive still sell Repton 3 for PC.

Interesting game. I'd have liked that one if I had it for the BBC Micro all those years ago.
According to the Wiki, it was ported to a few other systems (this game) but the sequels were ported to others.
Look up "Superior Interactive" if you want this game for the PC, if the article's anything to go by.
Nice walkthrough/playthrough/review/see what it looks like thingymabob! :D

I had a feeling there might be other versions, but wasn't at all sure.
Cheers for that :)

Repton, I think this was out on the C64 as well. Remember playing it with Yellow and Blue colours.

I think the yellow and blue one was Repton 2. I had 1 and 2 on the Electron.

I never had an Acorn Electron, but this game does look familiar....Wonder if this was released for the dos as well.
