@alexkrat92 My eeepc lasted 1,5 years. The battery lasted 20 minutes in the end, end by running out of power unexpectedly my harddrive got damaged. But I did use it daily en got quite some usage out of it.

For some of you who might not know... Netbooks were NOT meant for gaming issues.. at all. They were designed for long battery life and usage of small programs and access to the internet. The ATOM processor it´s very very bad for games, and that goes for the NVIDIA ION graphic card too. Not to mention that it is impossible to play for a long time in such a small screen. Your eyes couldnt take it. So... if you want a portable pc just for games look at the tech specs (alienware) and not at the size

@odyssomayi bought it for uni about 3 weeks ago.Im pretty pleased with the performance. it looks better than the dell, smaller than the dell (same screen size) the keys are better, the mouse pad on the dell is annoying. its alot lighter aswell. however theres about $80 difference....but its definately worth the price. the glossines is not so bad if u increase brightness. it has a simpler OS system which is GREAT, its good when u dnt wana boot up windows. ALSO the 1005p lets u change wallpaper.

@mcmcelwee321 if u have the dock system thing. its on your desktop a little blue asus bar, when u click on it play with it and u'll see where it says system settings. however ive got the 1005p i can change it even tho its a windows 7 starter. its good. i know 99% of other laptops you have to do all sorts of crap to change it cause it doesnt let you. but ASUS was smart and factory installed this super cool toolbar.

@J0RDSKI its very light. depending on what you use. its not slow at all....with music playing, documents open and internet. its at 68% CPU usage its pretty fine....well. 1gb ram...what do you expect? lol

@Vanai235 The 1001P series have both a matte black and white version. In the US the 1005PE also comes in a matte black (no textured pattern like on the 1001P series or like my 1005PE)

Nice review. I have questions:

1. Since Atom N450 is 64-bit, Can you try install 64-bit Windows7 on it? I have some apps that doubles performance in 64bit version.

2. Tried H.264 720p videos? how is it?

3. Is the performance affected if say you have anti-virus, torrents or download managers always running on the background while you browse or watching videos? I can't live without those stuffs

1. I don't have the 1005PE anymore but what apps are you refering to? I may keep that in mind for future netbooks I review.

2. H.264 720p video works fine as long as you have CoreAVC codecs installed.

3. I've never really noticed much of a difference having those sorts of apps running in the background.

1. Yes, using ultimate x64 on mine

2. Depends on your OS, ultimate gets jitery sometimes, i just put it on "super performance" mode.

3. Been using KIS2010, which is kinda heavy, had no problems with it. Utorrent is barely used tho.
