  • This was one of the best and it is smooooooth! The funny thing is Sugarfoot never wanted to sing...After Juney left the group he was thrust into the lead!!

  • This is almost too smooth to tolerate! What a groove!

  • This is the jam..WEST SIIIDE!! But homeboy got a serious grill!!...LOL he cant eat no coochie!! he might tear the Uterus out a sista!! and he dam sho cant have a bite of my hamburger!!

  • @jacksondarryl34 he says a glass of lemonade dont be afraid...

  • Songs today can't touch this! Notice the 'jazz' chords and the way the pianist is 'comping'. Also, the flutes and strings swaying in the background. Man, I always go back to this era (the 70's). Real music, real instruments, no auto tune........and the last chord....pure jazz!

  • There were a lot great bands in the 70's....I mean alot...but the bands that influenced that era and defined the times....EWF, Funkadelic, The Ohio Players, Kool & The Gang, Bar-Kays, The Commodores, Average White Band,L. T. D., Cameo and The Isley Brothers....I'm sure there are more, but these BANDS were trend setters.....

  • Love this song, and Sugarfoot too, he is fine and sexy with that afro...

  • One great hit, forever lives on the music chart, sing it Sugerfoot

  • He had the tightest shaped fro.

  • This group was incredible. I was knee-high chuck to a pup but I loved looking at those albums with that naked bald-headed chic. I know I was not the only kid intrigued with those albums. Just keeping it real.

  • They were incredible. A reunion is so needed!

  • I love this joint........brothers back in da day had game and da old school playas still got game......I am a 70's baby...73 to be exact.....these yongsters have zero game and dont have what it takes to get my attention....old school all day everyday.....heaven must be like this...

  • sexy

  • All these amazing funk bands from the 70s don't get enough airplay anymore, especially not in mainstream America. Ohio Players, Commodores, AWB, War, Parliament/Funkadelics, Isley Brothers, Sly and the Family Stone, B.T. Express, Rufus and Chaka Khan, Labelle, Kool and the Gang, Minnie Riperton, and my all-time favorite Earth, Wind and Fire. These bands will always be an enduring part of me. So much joy, power, and unbridled sensuality.

  • The lip bite, head nod and closed eyes 0:27. Then you got 0:34 the look back (women like to feel you are being secretive. That is their nature. Then there is the macho stand back @ 1:17. Take these and use 'em. Haven't seen these subconscious moves since about '83.

  • @aristotleplatohomer or it could be that he was high as the sky. maybe its me

  • Alright. All you true macks out there. Watch his delivery. He is running game 50% words and 50% mannerisms. The key is in the mannerisms. Chuuch.

  • i swwear uncle boby from the proud family was modeled after the lead singer

  • There are no words to describe the vibe of this song. Just awesome - HANDS DOWN!!

  • Man, this music is great!! it's relaxing and enjoyable :)

  • AWWW Yeah!!! Sugarfoot had a unique look. This is a BEAUTIFUL song. they dont write 'em like this anymore.

  • Yo Sugar Foot is the man I remember listening to these dudes and all thei rslow joints to hear Sugar talkin that slick talk to the ladies he was the best! Nobody ad-libs like Sugar by the way they easily should be in the R&R Hall of Fame...

  • My husbands mother used to date pee- wee from this group!!!! When they came to Oakland the group used to visit my husband when he was a kid!!!!

  • My husbands mother used to date pee- wee from this group!!!!

  • their microphones r so cool! i looks like the small flashlights of today

  • Am I the only one that thought Sugar looked sexy as hell when he bit his bottom lip and nodded his head after he sang the opening line?????

  • old school is the only school....

  • Suga was one of the coldest mofos to ever do it!!!!!

  • Damn i love this song.

  • @c280classs me 2

  • Thumbs Up if Thought Him & Bootsy Collins were The Same Person,LOL

  • smooooth jaaaaaz~~~!!!~~~!!!

  • I love this video! Sugarfoot was just do smooth!

  • Yo the Piano player is grooving in his own world

  • Check out SugaFoots Fro he turned out to be the best front man 4 the group!!

  • Billy Beck on keyboards, Marshall "Rock" Jones on that bassline MADE this song and of course, Sugar on lead vocals! Classic cut!

  • Comment removed

  • Does anyone notice at around 0:16 Sugar forgets his lip-synch??? He was supposed to say "listen" but chuckled it off!!!!!! Oh well, he is still sexy!

  • @Diva2678 yes, i noticed that but the way he laughed it off with that huge trademark smile was too cool. lol.

  • I love this song... I hate posts begging for thumbs up.

  • Sugar Foot and that keys arrangement and that bassline..oh man

  • After watching the Unsung special, I have a crush on Sugarfoot!!!! He has a beautiful smile!!

  • i love the Players!!

  • I never realized how cute Sugar Foot was back then!

  • The 1970's was a beautiful time back then compare to now !!! If there's anyone with a Mothership that can travel back to that time, I'm aboard for the ride !!!

  • Thank you so much for posting this...

The Ohio Players are the best...

  • the 1 dislike has never been to "heaven".....

  • i luv them! do 1 more reunion orginal group maybe a award show!

  • I loooove this song!

  • Daaaaaaaaaaaaayum! Everything on this song jams. The bass is funky as hell, the piano is silky smooth, rim shot too crisp and vocals r like butta! OP has a sound that influenced SO many acts. (cameo, other live bands and artists singing/playing styles) And to think the basically went into the studio with a clean slate and just jammed. TRUE SOUL MUST BE LIKE THIS. IT MUST BE LIKE THIS. And ya gots ta love that afro, baby!

  • in one interview Sugar foot said that Satch was A bitch! these are his words. it also meant that Satch was hard to work with even though he was the so called leader~ and after watching UNSUNG! it comes out that Satch was a thief ! and financially fucked them ALL!!

  • @tedkay he sure did screw the band out of their money and homes all cuz he was taking care of hoes outside of his marriage, this is so sad because they were one of th best bands and made tons of money all to lose it at the end over dumb reasons, sad

  • @tedkay Man, I see why hardly his band members made it to his funeral. Members today hardly speak because of this incident.

  • Satch that tall middle man is fine as hayle! Lawd. LOL

  • @Greatersend Ooops, I meant Merv Pierce with the trumpet playing. The tallest one...lawd. LOL

  • Thumbs up if you think old school music is the best

  • @sda1225 Anything else shouldnt be called music..

  • Man, this is probably their best song. This group is so under-rated.

  • @amd77j

I wouldn't say they're underrated. I think it's probably more that people --- particularly those who didn't grow up listening to the band --- don't know many of their tunes other than "Love Rollercoaster". The Red Hot Chili Peppers version, unfortunately. Those are the same people who never heard "Higher Ground" prior to the Chili Peppers 1989 remake, either. They're probably more overlooked --- by a certain segment of the population --- than underrated. Most bands from that era are.

  • @Fakename70 I like "overlooked" vs. "underrated". Nice response. Cheers!!!

  • This was the "bomb" back in the day, talking about slow dancing!!!! I'm very surprised no one has remade it!!!! I love the Ohio Players!!!

  • @crunchbar123 D'Angelo remade it about 12 years ago. His version is actually pretty decent.... That's coming from a man who essentially despises remakes.

  • @crunchbar123 Yes, De'Angelo remade that song but never made it to one of his albums.

  • SUGARFOOT RULES

  • Love this song !!! :-)
