  • Everyone is saying the shots are over edited. Thats stupid. Part of being a photographer is being able to be creative and create what you see and what you feel. I'm more than certain that when those shots were edited they were just having fun and doing it on purpose. Have fun with it, don't go by the books all the time it'll lose it's fun.

  • I am planing to get 50mm, which one you use 1.4 or 1.8 ? thx

  • i love how the two top comments are slamming out a high level professional photographer...

  • This guy is crapppp.Anyone who knows little to nothing about street photography likes this video.real talk.

  • Me: "Do you mind if I take your picture?"

Girl: "Why?" (in a bemused way).

    Me: "Because you're beautiful."

    Girl: "OK."

  • Love it anymore tips??

  • Excellent Like your Style Maybe not for the UK we are too "uptight" and the serious issue of someone calling the cops:0

  • Massively over photoshopped. What a shame

  • @Java820616 yes

  • Love the b&w style and gritty feel of the images. It has inspired me to get off my backside and out the studio and into the street.

  • Excellent

  • Making it simple but so bloody good at the same time.

  • looks like san francisco!

  • LIXO, vai fazer fotografia de rua de verdade ao inves de ficar fazendo retratos pousados

  • i like b/w photos and his minimal equipment...

  • this was awesome, how can still have 8 dislikes? great photographer and person

  • nice video and everything, but the images are was too over processed

  • so your so-called street photograph is calling people on the street and take a picture at a fix location with white background. Your finished photos are all photoshopped to me... what about real street photography that is go around the street and shoot them where they are?

  • @ 1:32 "lets trying minimize the Awkwardness" FTW :D

  • Not real street photography as in urban from the hip shots. He has it all set up a white background, and he just asks people to have their photo taken. Want real street photography then go tolook at 85mm or streetlifes work on 500px

  • The first pics I see are all retouched! ahah

  • Honestly a great video just showing the in/outs of talking to people.

  • Really enjoyed this video.Nothing major fancy as far as the set up,but the shots look great, especially the ups guy.

  • That's not street photography. This is just photography on the street.

  • @AllanGeeRusky yeah read the title it say street portrait not street photography

  • @AllanGeeRusky No one claimed it was, it's street portraiture...

  • great video thanks

  • really nice work. high pass filter ?a little much maybe but love the crops, cool .

  • photoshop? fuck u

  • inspiring idea, i like this a lot.

I'm really curious what he does about model releases when he does these portraits.

  • You dont have to be in open shade. If you know your exposure and use any modern dslr, it can handle the highlights if you expose correctly. I you shoot negative film the highlights will never be a problem at all.

  • @HogbergPhotography Different strokes for different folks. For what he does, and the aesthetic he's going for, he likes nice flat light. Although nice direct light, modified just right, can be more interesting when handled correctly, it's always easier to add contrast than remove it in the 'darkroom'.

  • cool idea.

  • are they HDR photos?

  • @kind18cch Nope, they just extremely post-processed.

  • @kind18cch

There isnt that much post done on them, the main changes i can see straight away is a boost to contrast and obviously it being black and white. This is a nice effect for every now and then, but if you shoot don't forget that flattering coloured photos witha normal street backdrop nicely out fo focus can be just as powerful and even more intimate witht he subject. Also, it's nice to give the people you shoot your card incase they want copies of your shots ;)

  • The only problem with this is the lack of film.

  • @master777999

to be honest, film photography is still in my opinion a far more important art form than digital, but digital being far more easier to work with allows people like me to still create great shots

  • @griddamus Good point, digital can be more practical for stuff like this. And thank you for still appreciating film!

  • great!!

  • Clay needs to make an hour long dvd because i would so buy it!

  • How big do you think the white background is?

  • how big do you think it's the white background?

  • love the idea

  • I hate being photographed, but I'd be happy to let him photograph me.

    Seems like a great guy!

  • They look like they have been draganized in post processing

  • Great fun - Great B & W portraits

  • is in SF, near Royko Photo center?

  • i love his spontaneousness!

    thx for posting this

  • Love his attitude.

  • yea a little too much on the editing

  • easy on the high pass filter, dude...othewise, nice concept and communication...

  • @sleepgolfer77 nah i like the high pass : ) all photos doesnt have to look super realistic....

  • Cool idea but i really dislike what he does with the photos. People got to stop doing that fugly overdone HDR effect...

  • This is so great! I would love to try this sometime. Great work!

  • Really cool, creative and brave.

but the song in the end?

  • You know, i|I}f you're looking for}|wanting|in need of}| need| want} a popular space to host your pictures, try w w w . free image house . com, that's the place I go to|where I go}. Cool vid!

  • youtube ads are gay

  • Excellent!!!

  • Madd photog stance 2:24 haha. Also any ideas why Clay doesn't use the vert grip?

  • Fun approach to candids.

  • Great personality. Regular photographs.

  • cool man

  • The post processing is just a bit over the top for me, too much detail in the edges. Almost has that HDR glow =\

Cool idea though, I want to try this sometime.

  • @dankink I agree. Plus the white background gets old after a while.

  • How the heak do u get photos like that?? the clarity and contrast is just perfect to my eyes and I'm DYING to know how to get that effect

  • @firehero16 Post processing, most likely

  • @firehero16 some of it is in post, but he still needs something to work with. @ 2:26 he says what your looking for. as my instructors keep saying, go take more pictures.

  • its a great clip thanks for that

i have just one questions do you do a model release or just a e-mail address or something like that?

  • @karnickelkiller

If you don't use the photo to sell, or to promote your business, you don't need to get waivers.

  • high contrast

  • Good stuff, but the fotos look like heavily after-processed. Not a bad thing anyway.

  • White paper background ?? sounds a little boring to me, I'm far to creative for that method !!

  • @RedWine2 just seen your flicker account and im still loking for you big creativity if selling pictures of people picking his nose is creativity i prefer to be uncreative !!! for me you are just another cheap english paparazzi!

  • he has such a great personality.

  • 1* for teaching newbies the wrong stuff.

  • What is he doing wrong?

  • @fenster666

    Great Master :)

  • @theredrooter There is no 'wrong' in phtoography, or anything creative for that matter.

  • Awesome video

  • cool

  • cool!!!

  • I used to do something similar except with chloroform and without the asking people if it was okay part...

  • Used to...you mean you stopped?

    That's no fun.

  • Really like this minimal random guerrilla type approach to photographic portrait.

  • Extreeeeme use of Unsharp Mask! But it looks great :D

  • 1:24 its the rain man

  • That could be applied to videography.

It would be interesting to do it in a small town.
