actually i've seen other vids showing people of other religions getting into these kinds of 'trances' as well. so i would like to know why and it's not peculiar to what is seen here.

they are invoking the tattoo in thailand they call it "sak-yant" the spirit is entered to the body through the blessed tattoos for instance some think they are tigers while the monk chants but they dont realize it the spirit takes over but its a blessing so its not out of control.
