  • Another Asian playing this song...why am I not surprised.

  • by ear!? no way!! I quit piano

  • Very accurate - except for the attitude at the piano!

  • congrats man! u hav a very very good ear, maybe you can sound better if you can get the right tempo. but really! Congratulations!

  • man you are great iwll borrow your ears!

  • DUDE DO YOU HAVE THE SCORE D:!!!!!

  • its not his Technic its his style ! ~

  • Try this from the music, almost impossible. By ear! absolutely amazing!

  • You are a genius odf jazz msic. I am really amazed by your ability to memorize any note that you have listened to ! Gorgeous!

  • Hey, it's a hard piece. At least give him some credit for trying out this titan of a piece and then proceeding to have the bravery to post his attempt on YouTube for all to see.

Sir, your technique, definitely isn't terrible, but of course, there's always room for improvement. Keep practicing. It's ten times -- nay, twenty, or even thirty times -- better than I could ever play.

  • he is an extremely good pianist, but i dont think he is enjoying it. he has a sad face. i think when you play piano you should enjoy and be happy specially with a song like this one. dont get me wrong, your are very talented I just think you should at least have a smile while playing it and the crowd would enjoy it more as well.

  • great stuff but u got the rhythme wrong at the start

  • Excuse me, do you have any sheet music for this because I am finding it very difficult to determine how the first part is played because of the sustain. You are an obviously amazing pianist and you will go far with that talent. If you can help that would be appreciated.

  • @Dolphidood If you've found it please tell me .____. I can't find it eitherrr D:

  • You sir are great! :)

  • Bad quality of the video OK, but poor technique? Seriously? ;D

  • are you trying to imitate Glenn Gould with that chair rofl

  • Awesome awesome awesome! I like watching those kind of videos... even if sometimes it makes me feel down since I am sooo far to be as good as that. By the way, I think the "funaki1978" person meant it the same way... not in a bad way ahhaha!

  • you're really good. How old are you now?

Search "Tom and Jerry Judy Shin"

It's the same tune. She's a new Berklee presidential scholar (before the scholarship).

    She's ridiculous.

  • I was copying it too, but I gave up, when I got to play this fast as hiromi. It's not as difficult to transcribe, as playing this. Good job man!

There is some minor mistakes in transcription, but - anyway - good job!

  • I was copying it too, but I gave up, when I got to play this fast as hiromi. It's not as difficult to transcribe, as playing this. Good job man!

  • Poor technique? Hahaha! You're joking, right? Video is better than most. Nothing wrong with yours.

  • Transcribe it for heavens sake. Sell me a copy.

  • wow good job!

  • Comment removed

  • wow to think that u copied that through ears! its very hard..

  • MY GAWD I am giving up my piano lessons!

  • very very good. congratulations. any chance you could share the sheets?

  • wow youre also great

  • Oh my freaking goodness. You're incredible. 1093285490485089109395801 stars.

  • Wow, 20 years old? Hats off to you man!

  • slow.

  • yeah "sry for the bad technique" :D:D damn thats understatement!

  • This guy is still more Incredible than Hiromi Uehara. She could make this copy...HE COULD. By Ear ? My god!

  • yes.. asians are good at piano but the best is still european..

    i am asian

  • @rvn10rvn17 there is no reason why an asian person would be any better or worse than a european person, it`s down to the individual to study and perfect thier instrument.

  • why is it that every asian is good at piano?

  • Maybe because asians are full of passion... :D :D

    I'm asian! Haha.. K.

  • any advise on playing with such accuracy as you? i mean practicing is one of them of course, but any specific advices as far as practices?

  • Amazing! Hiromi is great, and you are fantastic to get this copied by ear. Incredible!!!

I am a jazz pianist myself.

    10 stars for you.

  • Nice work... but now look like Hiromi? LOL its ok

  • nice... can you try the "Jay Chou piano battle 4"?...

  • You are amazing...

  • Man u did great!!!!!!!!!!!

  • well I have memorized and learned the first part of the song known as "Vielen Dank" the OP from tom and Jerry in german the part with the piano...it wasn't difficult to play it by ear and I'm amateur...so when somebody is a pro...well

  • Yeah a score may exist but there are ppl out there who can really do this by ear....dont be jealous :)

  • By hearing it once ??

  • it says "copied by ear" in the title...

  • he transcribed it...

    thats

    definitely...

    Thats AMAZING!

  • One thing that will make it easier is to get a piano stool with no back, to sit closer to the piano and a bit higher up, you seem like you're miles away!

  • you cant put this guy down. the sheer amount of time involved in transcribing thing and just being physically able to perform it recognizably is a feat within itself. none of us who cover these amazing artists are trying to prove anything. well, most of us anyway. great job man, i'm working on kung fu world champion myself, but i'm not even gonna bother trying to transcribe it exactly note for note, including solos haha

  • Good attempt, but you get to the point where you stopped being judged for if you can play our not and start being judged on if you can play it well. You can definitely play but as for playing the tune well you have miles to go. Keep practicing and get a good teacher to help you hone your talent, because you definitely talent.

  • you can hear how different his style is from hiromi

  • Nice style. Try having a better posture though... Your back is kinda rounded, be proud that your playing so well.

  • hiromi did it

i dunno, it needs perfecting, it has been transcribed SOOO much now, seriously if someone more recent says they have copied it by ear when it takes 2 secs to pull it off the internet, i tell them WHY would you do that to yourself

MUCH less sustain, better piano, una corda?

middle bit was fairly nice though

someone who is able to play so well should spend there time composing rather than trying to be as good as someone else, seriously, show us, the audience, what makes you special

  • A Great player! But Hiromi did it first and others are copying. This guy is a good player, but the Joy that shines out of Hiromi, is not present. (bad english from me too)

  • Dude. hiromi is hard as ever to play and that song to transcribe. Great work!

  • i think that beethoven was ur grand grand grand grand grand... father :D

  • WOW

  • Hey man, well done. This is a crazy difficult song and you did a great transcription, as well as a good performance. You get a gold star! haha.

  • Haha, that's how things should be done; by ear ;D

  • what a great transcription!!!

  • i have the transcription lol

  • could you send me a copy of the score? =))

  • very nice to transcribe this piece by ear, goes by pretty quick

  • I wish I was asian! You guys do a great job in everything! haha including you! you're great... congrats =)

  • hey badass man... some nice skill here!

  • nice

  • what's the point in playing a transcription ?? Jazz is about improvising. It must have taken you a lot of time to wrote it down, but many have done such works. It's not interesting, you'd have done better finding the theme, the cords and chorus on yourself, even if you wouldnt have get such a chorus

  • For God's sake, what is your definition of poor technique?

It's not necessarily the perfect copy of Hiromi's piece, but, for all doing this by ear, it's just awesome!

  • what is this?????? good ear, but not impressive...

  • nice, I could hear some of the weak technique BUT to play most of the piece by ear, good job. keep playing and PRACTICING!!!!

  • I wish I could do this half as well...poor technique? Are you crazy?

    sanjosemike

  • amazing.. all from ear?!! brilliant!

  • My sheet music transcription for "The Tom and Jerry Show" is up (Phew)! I took the original and corrected it (had numerous mistakes). Check out the link under my profile name. Enjoy!

  • What the... poor technique???? I'll never touch a piano again... :-(

  • @funaki1978

wow you fucking DICK. He did a FANTASTIC job.

  • @funaki1978 you will not, just because you nkow that you can never gonna do this. Sorry, some people has talent!

  • Unfortunately I can't write music, so when I learn a new song by ear, I have to commit it straight to memory. :P Your skill is superb.

  • best ear ive every seen in my life!

i cant believe anyone would be able to copy this just by listening!

    awesome job mate

  • u have a fantastic ear!!

  • wow if i could move my fingures that fast...i'd be impressed lol

  • Great job!!!!!

  • 感動しすぎてやばいです

    生演奏聞きたいです

  • Finally, I got the original sheet music :D !!!

  • where from?

  • Where did you find it?

  • BRAVO !! Superb playing!! - keep up the great work!

  • that was awesome! (in my opinion) not as virtuosic as hiromi, but abfab none the less.. it would be great to see such an accomplished musician post some original works perhaps? maybe this version seemed less polished than hiromi's as this work plays to her strengths (as opposed to yours! :P)

  • nice effort! keep up the good work!

This deserves 4 stars, if not five!

  • わお!

    人生の中で素敵な素敵な6分間でした!

    素晴らしい才能ですね!

    生で是非聞いてみたいです!

  • Very well, you should keep playing and playing. Your version is quite similar and

well executed. No reason to be shamed about it.

Thanks for giving mus great opportunity to listen to such a great tune...and who knopws we might be listening to your soon on a CD...!!!Congratulations and keep working on it! You´re great! greeting frm sunny hot Brazil!

  • Absolutely love it! Is there any way I could get the transcription?

  • I agree the video quality is not the better... but, come on! you're amazing man, it sounds good, of course not as good as hiromi, but still great!

  • Im not saying i agree or disagree, but who are you to determine who's the better player?

  • it's called opinion.

  • Wow. Well done. You're fantastic!

  • wow, ur a amazing. i can´t believe you played this by ear. you must be pretty talanted, or, you are. and it doesn´t matter if you slouch or not when it sounds this amazing.

  • dont slouch when you play

  • It's one of the best transcritpions I've seen, good job!

But I assume you usually play classical music?

Because honestly, sometime, I miss the attack :) A piano won't break, so try to play in a harsher way, at least for that piece (not all the time, mind you, but sometimes it would cause no harm^^)

    keep going, you're really good...

  • This must be the most stupid coment of all time!!! It would be like like John Terringer telling Sting not to use falsetto or Phil McGill telling the conductor of LSO to play the Pizzicato in continua fortissimo.... Uehara is a worldclass jazz-pianist with few in her class. If you have no clue whatsoever of what youre talking about, then don`t say anything. Or you might just ending up looking incredibly stupid...

  • And by the way, the coment was to MissDramatique who I assmume has never touched a GP

  • And to stupid person nr.2 gikcp34! This is only Ueharas "version" Ex: This is how she interpreted the music.... And it`s not she that`s playing here.... I swear it should be an IQ test for beeing able to have internet connection!!

  • Hey I couldn´t agree more...funny but it´s sad, isn´t. I also agree Miss Uehara is a great player and the guy tried hard and should be applauded. It´s his trying that counts in the end, isn´t it? Greetings from hot and sunny Brazil!!!

  • dude, please tell me you still have your transcription of this!

you wouldn't mind sending me a copy, would you?

  • please tell me you still have your sheet music.

you wouldn't mind sending me a copy would you?

  • if someone doesn't understand the person is a woman not a man

  • He has terrible posture but he plays like a god so who gives a shit :P

  • Awesome.

  • wt the hell

  • damnit, what is ur problem? i bet u cant even play half as good. asians with no emotions? u have no clue what ur talking about..go check out Hiromi Uehara, then come back to apologize.

  • ur a probably a redneck that plays metal, also, just cuz he isnt moving around to the beat doesnt mean he has no emotion. The emotion comes from within u douche.

  • COOL MAN! This guy rocks. Is all that made up right on the spot????

  • rofl rtfm nub kthxbai

  • これだけできて、すごくよかった!!ただ、リズムをもっと細かく刻めば、もっときれいで、清潔感のある音が出せるかもしれないな~

  • すげえ!!歯切れワルッ

  • wow man, youre incredible, i think even hiromi herself would say so

  • looool no way

  • very good but i dont think you have the energy hiromi has

  • Who does have the energy Hiromi has?

    Very very good, thanks!

  • imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

  • your so good... i would never be able to catch more than eight bars by ear...

    so good.....

  • すげえ!

  • I loved it! Just discovered Hiromi today while searching for Chick Corea pieces. She is an awesome talent. I totally believe you transcribed this by ear. Of course it's difficult but not impossible. Good Job

  • this is really really good! you're a really good composer!!! even if you are playing it byy ear, that's even more amazing!!!!!!!

  • Transcribing by ear is what every jazz musician does to learn how to improvise and not just Mozart. I myself try to transcribe a new piece every week. Yes this is insane work but real. Calling him a liar shows how very few people understand all the hard work it takes to be a good musician.

Great job man this is really cool!

  • Good job :)

  • fuckin insanity...

  • nono ur doing it all wrong. you must be so happy that you don't know what to do like hiromi. it's amazing you got all that by ear though.

  • that's very very much like Hiromi... well done man !

  • Hi AgariyaHonpo, Great job!! Lotta work ,huh? I too love Hiromi and her music. I'm happy that her work is appreciated and studied the way you have done it. I think she's the future of jazz. Jay

  • This is awesome! And his hands are beautiful ^^,

  • Dude if you can play that by ear, you can do anything!

  • I believe it was transcribed. Just because a song is difficult doesn't mean that it's impossible to transcribe. This song has a lot of repitition and familiar chords. Plus since he's into jazz he probably had to memorize all the different chords that were present in the song. Also, he probably didn't know that the song wasn't composed by Hiromi. It certainly is played by her though.

  • Actually it was composed by her. I listened to her on NPR Podcasts, she said she composed it from the Tom and Jerry show so either she doesn't know she's lying or she really composed it.

  • composing doens't mean you necessarily write your creation down.

  • I never said you had to write it down

  • would someone explain to me what is this.

  • I think Mozart was able to do so...hopefully, this guy isn't lying. So, it might be possible but you might be right.

  • I don't think he's lying. He IS good at the piano. He was 20 years old, meaning if he was in college (it would be a shame for him to not be), takes music/jazz theory, and has perfect pitch, it'd be very possible. I'm a high school student taking advanced music theory, and I have perfect pitch. I'd spend a damn long time and a lot of replays writing it down, but I could probably get close if I tried. And I could play back the melody after one listen.

  • well, i will say that extraordinary human exist in this world.. just like Hawking found theory about Black Holes and etc.. you and him may be right. But, personally i don't beleive.. But i guess, i'd publicly say sorry to write 'fucking liar'..

  • would someone explain to me what is this.

  • not cute like hiromi

  • but you did not prove that it was by ear?

  • This is a masterful transcription

  • lol how do u sit ? ^^

  • Holy, you got a great ear! Keep it up!

  • Excellent, very impressive, great job.

  • Pretty good!! I think you could be a little gentler, though... I know the issue with most fast pieces is that they are easier played loud, but that tends to make them kind of messy. If you just work on that, and lessen the amount of pedal, I think it would sound a LOT more crisp! =)

  • What a rare talent. Bravo!

  • SAV SAM SE NAJEZIO

  • Your back's a little too stiff. Otherwise, very good!

  • Very nicely played. I don't have chops like that... yet. :D I'm working on it.

  • Pretty good, but not nearly as fast or as powerful as Hiromi

  • agree with Ock.. comment.. you're fuckin' lyin'.. bustardo!!

  • woooooahh! fantastic!!!

  • Thank you so much!

    I`m learning music....

    this playing is so ....amazing...

    <:,)

  • Hiromi did not write it. :D

  • I have the CD Other Mind, this song was written by her.

  • てか、コピーうんぬんの前に、このテンポで、これ弾けちゃうの凄すぎます。

  • one word: RESPECT! :)

  • hey this went better than expected : ) You know it's a killer tune, if anything is. by any chance, would you share the transcription? This would be fun to try out!

  • By the way, AgariyaHonpo, nice damn job. I've transcribed a few of her solos on various things, but I'd never have even attempted Tom and Jerry. (Because I suck at stride, mostly :) Bravo.
