  • @Afflictionzv1 7th Dan?

  • Royce Gracie is 4th degree black belt so image how hard it is to be 4th!

  • @Mrhackerham Most BJJ schools have different grading systems, in most cases you do not have to grade for a belt but the instructor will award you a belt / grade when he sees fit this way is not common and I dealt Royce had do do anything like this (not that he couldn't). Anyway I think all the Gracie's are born with at least a 2nd degree Black belt :D

  • @TheLastFraudster Hahaha true :)

  • 7th Dan, he's 45, he's that because he's royalty.

  • I just love how the master just schools the guy who just schooled everyone

  • some fantastic transitions in this :)

  • Congrats!!

  • Respect!

  • congratulations Professor!

  • Awesome ground work here, Such a pleasure to see!

  • Thats the most clean and nice dojo i ever seen. like real talk, no sponsors or random mma cages or shit like that.

  • awesome.

  • this is the video im going to show to people when they ask me what jiu-jitsu is.

  • Superb ending (a clash of titans Roy vs Roy). From the Sensei´s perspective when your pupil beats you it means job well done.

  • Roy Dean is awesome. That is a given but also good to see that bald dude with a brown belt. I watched his Purple Belt examination a million times as a blue belt. So smooth.

  • Obviously, Roy Dean does well here, even in exhaustion. But I think what is more telling of his deserving this rank is how well his students do also.

  • AWESOME!!!!

  • nice BJJ skills.

i'm still struggling to get my purple belt.

  • @BluePittbull666 hehe like the most people do :D same thing here...

  • I clapped myself when I say Roy get promoted. He is such a good person and instructor.

  • RESPECT

  • It's good to see nice people doing this kind of stuff

  • @bmeyer2011 That's what I love most about BJJ :]

  • Wow, que movimientos tan limpios... algún día tendré la destreza de el.

  • Roy Harris is a destroyer.

  • 3 min12 sec classic

  • far better than me at bjj but id smash him on the feet and im hard to take down but god dam id better not slip hes so fluid and doesnt use any energy

  • @rhodawg666 he is also a judo, aikido and japanese ju jutsu black belt!! so I d imagine he is pretty good on his feet too

  • @rhodawg666 Yeah I know what you're saying I'm pretty good on my feet too one time I knocked out Fedor and Anderson Silva with one shot. But I don't have any video proof of it because it was an underground death match. The new Fedor and Silva you see are undercover look alike's because the real ones I killed with my hykua punch.

  • I feel so inadequate as a human being now.

  • Beautiful.

  • Roy moves his body's well.......flow!!!

  • this is so sick!

  • the best part was roy vs roy :D

  • 7 people got tapped out at this academy

  • Man, Roy you are something else! I live in southeast washington and would love to come visit your school and train there one day!

  • Is Roy dean the teacher or roy harris?

  • @k00lkane Roy Harris is Roy Dean's Instructor. Roy Dean has his own academy in Bend Oregon.

  • @babb4214 Cheers bro!

  • More than nice.

  • good work ! wish we did this at my gym!

  • this is hard work. and you impresse all martial artists.

    thank you SENSEI

  • eeepppic!!! very inspiring!

  • Just watching this has helped my jiu jitsu game, its ridiculous how inspiring this is

  • the best channel for bjj.

  • So inspirational.

  • I like to watch this video before I train to remind myself that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is primarily a technical flowing martial art not just a sport that requires strength and athletic ability.

  • Crazy sweep at 9:42 simple and effective!!!

  • i can probably watch this for hours its good!

  • Yes the stripes are just tape. At my gym we use black electrical tape for the base and white medical tape for each stripe

  • @alc84 at ours we use surgical tape as a running joke

  • This is Amazing.... It's inspirational on alot of levels. I'm actually starting my first BJJ class today!! I'm really excited. :D

  • 03:14... epic

  • the strips/degrees on the belt are just tape? i thought they were sewn on

  • @nelsonwwefan10194 the strips are actully thousands of hours that you spend sweat and bleed on the mat...

  • @nelsonwwefan10194 for the purpose of ceremony they used tape, but seeing as how its around 3 years between degrees, most black belts get them sewn on.

  • Me quito el sombrero!

That was inspirational, honest and beautifule!

  • damn that guy's got an endless gas tank. wonderful video.

  • Great video, very inspirational. Looks like a great school to be training at. Congratulations for your achievement and dedication.

  • awsome

  • That was beautiful

  • Made a Judoka give a thumbs up!

  • this right here is true jiu jitsu, rolling slow and just taking it easy. This is very impressive and motivational, keep up the awesome work!

  • I was on the edge of my seat! through the whole thing!! A video on youtube!!!

  • Who did Roy roll with last?

  • @eljefe510 Roy was rollling with his teacher Roy Harris

  • this really makes me wish i had a job to pay for jiu-jitsu class

  • This is very inspirational. GREAT display of BJJ.

  • Awesome video. Very inspirational! Great show of heart as well, congrats Roy

  • Made everyone else look like they'd never grappled before

  • Wow, just wow, beautiful to watch.

  • 3:13 JUST AMAZING

  • I love these damn videos.

  • 6 People got Choked Out....

  • Comment removed

  • All class, just beautiful to watch your movements Professor Dean, so sure so smooth..cried when you were awarded you next stripe my wife said I was silly, no just very happy and impressed. Thankyou.

  • Mis respetos desde chile! Ossu!

  • amazing,i have nothing but respect

  • Awesum. Where can i get a gi like yours?

  • Congratulations from Brasil!

  • Now that was just cool

  • wish i can roll with a black belt

  • Prof Harris makes it look soooo easy.

  • tough guy, congratulations

  • This is an AMAZING video, Thank you SO much for posting it. FANTASTIC technique.

  • you are fucking beast!!

  • 7:00 Bravo

  • i love all your videos and belt tests. i've been doing jiu jitsu about 2 years now and i already know it going to be a huge part of my life for the rest of my life. i've gotten some health issues recently that have made me unable to train but it doesnt discourage me because your videos i use as learning tools and inspiration to keep my head up. i know ill be back in the game soon. i wish to have a game similar to your's some day.

  • lol the blackbelt veteran at the end has some serious moves and strength for his age, reminds me of a motta gomes

  • Hey, Congrats! :D

  • the guy in blue at 7;10, was he in an episode of the dog wisperer?

  • Amazingly smooth technique.

    Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at its best.

  • the gi's look awesome, simple and classy with the kanji...not overflowing with patches and brand names

  • gotta love the ruffle sound that the clothes make :D

  • These videos are so inspiring. I wish i could dedicate more time to bjj.

  • guys that looks like some high level jiujitsu !!!! excellent

  • man, that other black belt, professor Harris I take it, really tortured him, that was an absolute grind!

  • love it!!! great vid!!!!

  • love it!!! the experience, the endurance, the hardwork of training, the fatigue all well worth it at the end!

  • OMG just amazing, that's poetry in motion right there, I love the science and adaptation you use awesome work!

  • Damn that guy was good his shit looks soo smooth

  • it amazes me that all these awsome vids are free and not on a dvd that you have to pay for.

  • Cool!!!!

  • Awesome.

  • Great video :) Awesome skills! I can only wish to be as good as you on the ground.

  • Fantastic job Roy! Congratulations. Looking forward to training with you again...

  • I really like his Gi's

    Nice vid!

  • This is just a real beautiful display of jiu jitsu because of all the techniques And leverage I think thats why they make you grapple alot of people that way when your tired all you have is technique and leverage to rely I think that's why it is I dunno it's just a guess

  • jimmys flying triangle? lmfao wow

  • You gotta put this video on your DVDs.

  • Roy Harris knows how to tap into what the Japanese call Munen Muso or simply put "Mushin"

There is absolutely no expression in his face... just look at his eyes. That is why he is so powerful.

  • That had to been the most beautiful display of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ive ever seen in my life. Nothing could have been more nerve-racking than to perform under max resistance. Sensei Dean upheld the true essence of Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu through technique, leverage, and a calm mind.

  • Im a almost second stripe white belt, and this makes me feel like a whale riding a bike :/ haha but its awesome to be able to see where i can get to later :D

  • Incredible. Can't compare to what most local strip mall martial arts schools have you do for belt testing. No wonder BJJ can defeat any art in purest form. To defeat BJJ you have to study BJJ.

  • nice cool vid

  • Nice.

  • 8:49 GOOD SONG!!!!!!!!!

  • last song is great !

  • CONGRATS!

  • Pure Art!!!! Roy you have a great Team... You can tell there is all armony in your Dojo!!! Keep it up...

  • J E S U S!!!!! : O

  • Holy crap.

  • i almost fell asleep during this video not because it was boring because i was getting tired just watching how many guys he had to fight

  • Congrats roy! Wonderful display of bjj.

  • I know it matters from school to school and from sensei to sensei but what does it take to get a 2nd degree black belt in BJJ from your school?

  • Roy Dean is impressive. But Roy Harris is just sick! :) Not just good for an old man, he's really a black belt amongst the black belts.

  • that was to much... great performence love it...

  • always great to watch the videos this is another favorite next to the brown belt demo you posted.

  • really technical and nice, cool music too

  • Awesome Movement....cool stuff !!

  • I'd like to congratulate Roy Dean on breaking into a new level of skill. His training partners have also shown quite a bit of skill. I think Mr. Dean got more warmed up as the test progressed and actually grappled even better towards the end. Congrats.:)

  • ok, how many degrees are there in BJJ?? I always thought once you hit black belt, you could always learn more, but you were done with belts.....does a 2nd degree BB know twice as much as a regular BB?? I love BJJ, but I am ignorant regarding the belts.

  • @wuebbsco

As you get higher in the black belt degrees it then becomes more about lifetime achievement, coaching skill, teaching ability, and contribution to the sport of jiu-jitsu. Degrees are added once every three years for degrees 1 through 3, once every 5 years for 5 and 6, once every 7 years for 7, 8, and after 10 years for degree 9. Only helio and Carlos are rank 10, noone else. As an example, Jacare Cavalcanti was recently given his 7th degree. It would take 47 years to get all ranks

  • @Vihsadas Thank you! I had no idea. Wow, that's a lot of lifetime achievement. I appreciate the info.

  • Roy Sensei - o-medetou gozaimasu! Well deserved! All technique demonstrated with grace, power and respect. A truly inspiring place of the way. I'll be teaching Aikido and BJJ soon and will be looking to your curriculum for guidance. Keep up the great work.

  • This it truly art

  • is there second degrees in bjj?

I thought it just went blue, purple, brown, black.

  • @oblivinater Rickson Gracie has 8 degree black&red belt...

  • What would happen if you had lost the last fight against Roy Harris? Would you passed the exam? Awesome Jiu Jitsu, just beautiful !

  • Congratulations on your 2nd degree Black Belt test....you deserve it. I hope to meet you someday Mr. Dean

  • Alrighty then; all you have to do is tapout everyone in your school and have Mr. Harris smash you for like an hour...heh, just looking was bad enough. Congratulations!

  • Beautiful jiu-jitsu.....this is something i would wanna jerk off to on a friday night.

  • awesome congrats

  • very controlled technique!

  • Sensei Roy Dean, Sensei Roy Harris and their academies are such inspirations to the BJJ community! Top to bottom I don't think I have ever seen a finer run academy from the skill to attitude to camaraderie! These guys and even their students I look up to so much! huge respect! Congratulations Roy Dean, well deserved!

  • Congratulations, your videos have been an inspiration to my training. Thank you.

  • this is much motivation to get started i hope to start making end of this month or beginning of next month. thanks for the inspiration Roy.

  • how long has he been training?

  • Congratulations!! Very well done!

  • Good Jiu Jitsu.

  • A testimony of how Great BJJ as a martial art really is.

  • Great Job Roy, very well deserved.

  • Absolutely awesome.. i could watch that all day and to face the blk belt at the end after so many other students looked real tough! Thanks for a great vid!

  • Excellent job. Your videos inspire the bjj community.

  • 6:58... brilliant !

  • Congratulations on a great job Roy. That looked very tough! I have been following your videos and you are an outstanding martial artist and human being.

  • 6:53... brilliant !

  • Roy Harris (the other blackbelt) was going SO easy on him at the end. But its understandable since i bet it had been a long test.

  • Well deserved Roy Congrats

  • i got tired just watching the video

sensei roy, how long did the actual test last?

  • CONGRATS ROY!! Very good showing, well earned and deserved!

  • Well deserved, keep making epic videos!!!!!!

  • the timing of the techniques are perfect! thank you for sharing. congrats!

  • Bravo, Roy!

  • great stuff. congrats on the stripes Roy.

  • 4:23 he's an animal

  • his instructor and roy are what pure flow is about.

  • Congrats!

  • Awesome as usual. That looked tough. When your opponents are instructed to only focus on one thing (i.e. don't let you escape, hold on to a technique/hold for as long as they can, etc.) it is extremely challenging. Especially when your opponents know what they are doing. Basically, he demonstrated the techniques under continuous, maximum resistance. Much like a real fight - only in this fight, you receive a fresh opponent every few minutes and the fight goes on and on and on...

  • @websslinger although in a real fight the bad guy will be swinging punches left right and center, so i don;t think it is quite realistic to compare this to a real fight other than the continuous resistance you mentioned..

  • @CoolerUK Right - I was referring the amount of physical exertion, not to the dynamics of a real fight.

  • Very Nice Vid! Great Looking School Too, Very clean!
