It would be great if someone had a copy of Casadh an tSugain or Tiocfaidh an Samhradh with better audio quality .... Micheal's voice was so perfect that it's a shame to have it so clouded by hiss and artefacts.
RIP Micheal - if there is an angelic choir, we know a prime candidate.
An t-amhrán is ansa liom go deo. Is dóigh nach bhfuil a macasamháil ann i measc na mílte amhráin ar fáil inniú. Tá rud i leith an fíorghrá fite sna focail nach cloistear (dar liom) in aon amhrán eile. Agus nach ait aoibhinn go dtosnaíonn sé le 'Agus'... Is fada linn uainn thú a Mhichíl.
This song has always made me cry when I listen to it closely. The tenderness of his voice and the time he gives the piece so that the full feeling of it comes out is just beautiful. -- Ireland for so long was a place where tender feelings were known and could be expressed in music. God bless Micheal O'Domhnaill, his voice is greatly missed.
wow what a song..ive had it for while, but i didnt know it had words. I could speak a word of gaelic to save my life, but i can guaranty as many views as will take me to memorize it!!!
I don't understand a word of this, but I don't care. I've loved the tune and Micheal's voice and rendition for 25 years. It is so sad that he is no longer with us. I'm so moved to actually "see" him singing. Thank you for posting this. God bless you, Triona
What a singer! Someone should put together an anthology of his best work. I'm still haunted by a mesmerising version of 'Lord Franklin', that I heard years ago. Thanks a million TG4 for posting this.
great clip - I'm pretty sure this is post Bothy Band isn't it, given Micheal was toured with Kevin Burke after they split up - though this was a Bothy song. Superb stuff.
Go diall ar fad! Thit mé i ngrá le Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill blianta ó shin i ndiaidh ag feachtaint uirthi ar 'Come West Along the Road' agus tá sé ar intinn agam fos an bhfuil sí ag dul amach in éineacht le éinne?!

Part 2 of 2
...And what dead cat (misfortune) that directed me to this place?
There's many a girl in the village that I left behind
Because of a fight and a quarrel and something that wasn't even true
Musha, a silly hag and her daughter that had no sense
I'd plough and plant the seed deep in the soil
And I'd drive the cows to the fields where the tallest grass grows
I'd shoe a horse that was the nicest and fastest ever
And a woman would elope with a man who wouldn't even do that"
