Hey Zach great job man. You def are a natural angler and keep up the fly fishing, we need more like you. Just to note. Carp are actually very intelligent and they have excellent eye sight, never under estimate any fish. But thumbs up to you buddy your doing a great job. Cheers
Z the Sporting Man you sir are a natural, Dont let clowns who post negative comments get you down. You are well on your way (if not there yet) to being an excellent Angler. I've caught Trout, Bass, Bream, Cats, Chubs, and BIG Common Carp. I Love catching Carp, they're smart, strong, & feisty! I cant believe you kissed it! ha! you're a Wild Man! Your Camera Man did an awesome job.. Tight Lines Boys!
@msquad321 Heavier tippet would have been fantastic! But at this time I wasn't completely sure what I was doing (hence some of the ignorant comments ;p) Since this video I have upgraded to 6 and 8 pound!
@2bonthewater Thank you for being more understanding than most of the other users about our lack of a net! Actually this video is of my first real carp on the fly. Since then me and my best friend have found a net, and have learned first hand how smart these fish really are! If you watch newer videos you will see how much I have achieved since this video ;) thank you for your kind words!
Great video, Indian Creek.....you must be close to me I live in Olathe Ks. You should get to Hillsdale lake lots of carp in the spring and summer I have caught a few over #20 on flyrod.
Zach, you get it. However, don't go so low on your tippet ... 8 to even 12 lb fluoro is good. Permits you to whip 'em much faster. Carp are not eagle-eyed ... rather poor "up close" vision.
Thanks man! where is Indian creek? I want to try carp fishing with my fly rod and that seems like a good spot to try. I would post videos of me fishing but I don't live close enough to any lake, river, ect to go by myself.
I'm sorry this may seem like a stupid question but, I'm a begginer fly fisher and i'm not sure what a tippet is. Is that the thin line that you attach you're fly to?
@batstarwars2 Absolutely! As a matter of fact, I use a 5 wt to catch ALL of my carp! You just need to work the fish right. A major up side to using a 6 wt is you can use tiny sized tippet like me. I use 6, 4 and 2 pound test for most of me carp
Omg I want in! Dude, carp love you lol. Hit me up, not this weekend tho, im camping (sorry I couldnt bring ya). Was that the spot we were at when we took that.ridiculously long walk and hopped out, right there?
@smallstreamfisherman Its a hole right off of metcalf near shawnee mission south high shcool! I always catch about 3-5 per trip around that size! (3-4 pounds obviously) wanting to go too,

guys, these are kids.............kids who are fishing..........they are learning.........as we all learned......
good job fellas...take a net--less stress on the fish--and less time for you to land it--which means-- more time to catch more fish !!!!......
and as stated by another poster........carp are pretty smart......
I love fishing for carp.......they are a blast to catch..........

5 mins fer 1 carp? one thats maybe a pound? talk about bad fishermen, killing the fish an not just geting the fish in.
