After so many war between Khmer, Cham, Thai and Viet, Khmer lost contact with Laos. Then the lower class khmers, the so called Khmu or Phnong separated into 3 tribes, but later reunited as Lane Sang by a new king. Khmers never invaded Laos. Chao Far Ghom, with help of a khmer king, his father-in-law conquerded Laos and it had nothing to do with khmer. I'm Lao too.
