@merrimac291 5 7 10 is the result of a flat ball. It rarely shows up. Even my dad, who once bowled a LOT, hardly remembers such a tough scenario. It is converted with a LOT of hook and a light ball to hit the 5 and 7 while the pin slides into the 10. Others get a VERY lucky break from the back end after hitting the 5, 7, or 10 to bound back and cause a chain reaction where launching pins bump into each other. The 7 10 appears a LOT more often cuz the 4 and 6 fail to knock down 7 and 10.

@drugssuck1991: to my memory of watchng abc's wide world of sports on saturday afternoons there was only once that this split was made on a pba telecast, it was back in late 1990 or early '91 and the bowler made it hittin the 6 head on sliding out the 10 in the process, then the 6 kicked out between the ball and the backstop of the pin deck like a missile and took out both the 4 and 7...

Amateur bowlers do funny things, the one time that I hit the 6-7-10 was when I was 12 and had about a 90 average (first year I bowled).

In 30 or so years of bowling, I have converted the 7-10 five times, the 4-7-10 three times, the 8-10 twice and the 6-7-10 (once - it's not easy for a lefty). I've never done the 4-6-7-10, even though I have bowled eight registered 300 games, 68 registered three-game series 700 or over, two registered three-game series over 800, two registered 299 games, a registered 298 game and 14 other registered 280+ games.
