Nice wheelies. Have you tried left rear peg stand ups? With your left foot on the rear peg it takes a lot of pressure off your arms so you can last longer. Be safe.

@bentonssbn Most people who buy and ride liter bikes can't actually _ride_ them. They tool along and occasionally twist the throttle to make themselves feel quick. Quick, but never fast. ;) They also seem to forget that there is this little pedal down by their right foot called the rear brake, and is how you control wheelies well. Stunters actually have a second brake lever that they'll pipe/cable in to the rear brake so they can have both feet off the pegs.

gotta ask cause i got 03 z1000 and ive done power wheelies kinda like that in 1st gear but for the life of me couldn't get it to do it 2nd or 3rd. so what gear you in and do you hit it at a certain rpm range every time or just "whack the throttle real quick" doesn't matter about rpm range.
your bike should power wheelie rise 1-3rd no problem i figure
power wheelies for me in 4th gear xr250 i need to ride at about 40% throttle or rpms, stand up jerk back on handlebars crack er to full throttle, once shes up, i sit down and float er between rear brake and throttle..meaning ride the balance point, goes to flip over i tap rear brake, keep the front end up with throttle, lean to turn, steady throttle while turning, jerky throttle while turning will send u into wheelie wobble

most important thing is to always have your toe on rear brake, it really sucks when ya flip over backwards in the middle of traffic, ive been there a few times and im on a dirtbike no license no insurance no nottin lol, scramble to get my bike goin before the cops roll up on me, not fun, cover the rear brake at all times while shes up
@t1tty23 well it helped either way. i've flipped my dirtbike more than once and yeah it sucked but being in traffic would be about 10 times worse i think. good advice though always cover your rear brake.

@tattddeb no hold the clutch and front brakes . put into first gear let off the clutch and give it enough gas to where the tire spins while you're still holding the front brake.. to stop just clutch it in. or you can take off doing a rolling burnout if you're good enough to control your rear break with your front without doing a wheelie.

Nice,But i dont know why you feel the need to Push down & pull on Bars for wheelie ! Ive got a GSXR 1000 K2 & the way i pull it up is Open throttle, Shut off,then Open it again & up she comes (2nd gear).If i do 1st gear wheelie which aint very often i always cover Back Brake as it can get away from you alot quicker... touch wood ive never dropped it from a wheelie.....

Wondering about the way you pop wheelies, you indicate no clutch needed, which seems true since it's 1000cc, so no clutch involved for 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear wheelies? Also, about how long did it take you to feel comfortable riding the R1? I get my bike this week!! Not my first bike, so I do know how to ride, but my first performance street bike!
@casperdarapper i believe the secret to doing wheelys is comfort. you have to kno your bike completly. take it slow for awhile push it find out what it can do, get a feel for doing wheelys in first gear

It is still somewhat overwhelming throttle response, but I am adapting to this. I have done some practice with popping the front wheel up. Doing this in 1st gear, in an unused parking lot. I manage to get the front wheel to lift up not everytime but about 50% of the time trying, the difficult part for me is getting the balance right and riding the wheelie out....

Nice,But i dont know why you feel the need to Push down & pull on Bars for wheelie ! Ive got a GSXR 1000 K2 & the way i pull it up is Open throttle, Shut off,then Open it again & up she comes (2nd gear).If i do 1st gear wheelie which aint very often i always cover Back Brake as it can get away from you alot quicker... touch wood ive never dropped it from a wheelie.....

Iv got a Tl1000sv from my previous bike Kawasaki ER5, big jump. Im trying to find my balance point but all i seem to do is pop wheelies at the lights. I wouldnt mind but im not trying to do it there. I want to e able to do it at high speeds (Motorway Etc)

Hey Man, Sweet vid, I just bought a R1, I'm going to take it slow for awhile, considering that much power and all. Wondering about the way you pop wheelies, you indicate no clutch needed, which seems true since it's 1000cc, so no clutch involved for 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear wheelies? Also, about how long did it take you to feel comfortable riding the R1? I get my bike this week!! Not my first bike, so I do know how to ride, but my first performance street bike!

@casperdarapper i believe the secret to doing wheelys is comfort. you have to kno your bike completly. take it slow for awhile push it find out what it can do, get a feel for doing wheelys in first gear

@GermanSniperBayArea hey thanks for the reply, so it's been two weeks now with my 02' R1, simply put, amazing bike, incredibly fast. It is still somewhat overwhelming throttle response, but I am adapting to this. I have done some practice with popping the front wheel up. Doing this in 1st gear, in an unused parking lot. I manage to get the front wheel to lift up not everytime but about 50% of the time trying, the difficult part for me is getting the balance right and riding the wheelie out....

ilike the vid, but seriously, its an R1, SOOOOOO much easier to wheelie at speed than a 600. u could be sitting in 3rd or 4th and easily power wheelie that bike, my gixxer 600 i gotta stand and bounce it hard as fuck with a clutch up in perfect timing, much more difficult, i think i need an upgrade lol

Bouncing the bike does nothing. You barely load and unload the suspension by doing that.
Especially on a liter bike, you can bring the front wheel up by just leaning back and snapping open the throttle. Give it a try.
As teamdarksidemoto mentioned, lightly using the rear brake is an easy and smooth way to bring the bike back down without hurting the suspension. Looks like you're pretty smooth w/ the throttle, but that is a good option for anyone who comes down hard after a wheelie.

Now like you I think its dumb, but it does take alot of ability, atleast they will have a slight chance of knowing how to do a proper wheelie instead of trying it on their own
