I don't think Germans are bad people. The system caused them to adhere to a hierarchy of evil. The evil was coming down from the top echelons and the soldiers had to follow orders dutifully. I am sure with a good compassionate leadership, with good morals, sense of justice and friendship to foreign nations, Germans won't be viewed in the manner they were during WW2.

Plenty of autrocities committed in every war we have fought in, especially lately. The german people were just like anyone else. Where they went wrong is that they allowed Hitler to grab complete power. This should have been stopped in 1934, it could have been had a few just shown a little courage. The german people paid the price for decades for this mistake.

My god, you have problems with your history. During the war the Soviet Union lost over 10 millions in civilan casualties, and not only because of bombs. Many of them died of hunger, when they was starved to death by the germans, others were outright murdered. Entire villages was wiped out, men, women and children was burnt or shoot alive, other were sent to work camps. Dont come and say that Stalin was responsible for that.

I think this movie was made to prevent the horrors of the war. Nowadays we don't have to fight the Russians, the Germans or other Empires. The people who want to conquer us are the Radical Muslims, with their Third Djihad. Even though the last Muslim Empire was defeated in 1917 by the British and again they were defeated in 1948, 1956, 1973, 1982, 1991, 2003, they don't have the wisdom to stop like the Germans and the Japs and they still want to conquer the world with nuclear weapons.

Many, many French, Polish, etc were captured and forced to work in Germany on farm, in munitions factories, etc. Terrible conditions, obviously. I'm not saying your point about Stalin is false - I'm not well versed in Soviet Russian politics during WWII - but you excused German slavery, it DID certainly occur.

@Dune571 I believe in the case of French 'enslaved', it was actually negotiated with the French collaborationist govt - the Germans in return released and sent back home quite a number of French POWs captured in the earlier years of the war. This was not the case of other countries, unfortunately.

War brings out the worse in some people. In others, it brings out the best. The US is not as squeeky clean as we would like to be. Plenty of autrocities committed in every war we have fought in, especially lately. The german people were just like anyone else. Where they went wrong is that they allowed Hitler to grab complete power. This should have been stopped in 1934, it could have been had a few just shown a little courage. The german people paid the price for decades for this mistake.

@xSniper141 What am I misinformed about?Enlight me,please!Yes,i might sound lunatic,but that's only due to the fact that I go nuts each time I watch these kind of movies and see anyone supportive or trying to excuse Nazi murderes.My mom's father died of cancer developed due to the wound in Stalingrad and both of my grandmothers can remember the horrors of war.And each soviet family lost at least one member.So what am i misinformed about.About germans being nice to Russian civilians?I doubt it!

Im pretty sure Konstantin Tsiolkovsky or Frank Goddard aren't Germans, actually they are Russian and American. You are unbelievably dumb! You criticize others yet your information is wrong which. @EdgarEmigholz !Each time I watch Second World War or so called the Great Patriotic War I feel like hating all of you germans and wish I could appear in Berlin in 1945 and commit all kind of crimes to your civilians,your soldiers commited to russian civilians.I feel like none of you deserve to live after all.Nevertheless,I know that feeling this way makes me similar to Nazis,but each time I see this kind of movie I can't resist these kind of feelings.The fact of deathes on such a scale

@xSniper141 Then don't.I was just intended to express my attitude towards Nazis and their crimes.I just become angry each time I here,that German soldiers were just fulfilling orders,when they were burning people in their houses,shooting civilians,raping girls and women etc,but that the Russian soldiers who raped 2 million of women in Germany and who are monsters.I am not here to teach you.It's just about my personal feelings.

@potapah Youre right. Soviet lost over 10,000,000 civlians due to the Nazis, but they were just following orders. But that some soviets did as revenge, that makes them complete monsters.

My god, you have problems with your history. During the war the Soviet Union lost over 10 millions in civilan casualties, and not only because of bombs. Many of them died of hunger, when they was starved to death by the germans, others were outright murdered. Entire villages was wiped out, men, women and children was burnt or shoot alive, other were sent to work camps. Dont come and say that Stalin was responsible for that.

Stalin killed no ore than ten people, personally. However, in his reign, his government was responsible for up to 40 million deaths of civilians, military personal, and politicians.

Well, i am russian and my family have lived under the Stalinist rule. We have experience of how it was back in those times.
And i have a couple of relatives, who was closly bound to the Communist Party and the KGB.
And again, i dont deny that the Stalin did commit crimes, he did many horrible things. But what many people forget, is how much good he did for the Soviet Union.

@Alsemenor The horrors of war-that is what made them monsters.Since the soldier had seen so much atrocity and brutality on his motherland,he would probably be obsessed with revenge feelings.I guess anybody of us would.Although I agree that oppressing the civilians for any reason makes you similar to Nazis.However,I do feel some sympathy towards Soviet soldiers on german soil.Because,as I said,I am Russian myself and each time I watch movie about Germans in Russia,I feel like hating all Germans.

I feel just like you. I just think its strange that all the civilians and prisoner of war that was killed by the germans are excused as "they were following orders". And when the soviets took their vengence, they are seen as monsters....

Would you be able to overcome the fear of humiliation, punishment or death in order to do the right thing, just to see another soldier carrying out the order and rendering your bravery obsolete? I bet only one in thousand would do it once and not a second time, no matter what the nationality or religious background would be. You have my compassion for the fate of your people but it doesn't justify your disgusting comments.

I love how Westerner seem to think in terms of Hollywood Idealism; everyone has to be a hero and do the "right" thing or they're cowards or lowlifes. Guess what, if you join the army you are expected to obey ALL orders, not just the ones you want, and if your commanding officer wants you to execute people ya do it. If you don't like it don't join the army, its that simple. Also i highly doubt anyone here (you and i included) would of done the "right thing" considering the situation
