  • Just as timber and coal companies before, the gas companies are running over the people of Appalachia and exploiting the riches found underneath the mountains. Only difference is, some of the gas companies are foreign owned.

  • @charliepc56 I don't doubt it. Thanks for watching.

  • thank you cathead great job great musis

  • Thanks a bushel.

  • Thank you Cathead, love your songs and your music. You are a sweetheart for sharing.

  • And thank you.

  • Wow, man!! I don't know who you directed all that toward, but I suppose it wasn't me since I was born in right here in West Virginia and have been here for 57 years. Uhh....thanks for the input.

  • If this is directed at Cathead, perhaps you should've read the info he provided with this song and you would've seen that it has nothing to do with coal in the first place. He was inspired by a ravaging of the land that was done to drill for gas and acres of trees were left fallen to rot when at the very least, they could've been used to heat the homes of thousands of folks right here in the area who go cold during the winter because they can't afford firewood.

  • keep up the good work and making good music thank you cathead

  • Furthermore, you'll be hard pressed to find someone more proud of HIS mountains than Cathead. Far from an out-of-stater, he not only was born and raised in WV, but he raised his family (all of which are still in WV) here, as well. He's coal and heritage proud, no doubt and the son of a hard-working McDowell County man who gave his life to mine coal. He not only loves Appalachia, he IS Appalachia.

  • As with anything, there is a right and a wrong way to drill, to mine, to timber land, etc. This song is the result of what he saw to be the wrong way of doing things. If you love OUR mountains, too, you'd agree if you saw what he saw.

  • Thank you, Stacy. I could have never said it as well. You hit the nail on the head and moistened my eyes........again.

  • Very well stated! Thank you!

  • you should definitely go professional man!

  • Thank you lots!!

  • Good video, great , although sad, song.

  • Thank you for watching and commenting.

  • Thank you for watching and commenting.

  • I am a KY hillbilly but my Granny lived in Mingo County and i spent my summers there...it was as beautiful as KY and i love the good people of WV!! I love your song and i sure do know how you feel...what they,ve done to the hils in Ky is shameful!!

  • Thank you for watching.

  • This is an awesome song.

I am from western Mercer County. It's has the same ol' coal town feel as McDowell. I live close to Matoaka.

  • I know exactly where Matoaka is. Cool little town. I played in a band once with a feller from there. His name was Spoon Barlow.

  • reaally like your song .

  • Thanks for the looksee.

  • The USA is up for sale. Our political leaders have been for sale. From sea to shining sea, Garment industry, steel mills, manufacturing jobs, gone. Now their selling our infrastructure, Texas highways, Illinois, Chrysler building etc. This 2008 election what a joke. None of the above X.

  • So, thanks for watching.

  • Shame what we have allowed the greedy coal companies like Massey do to our home and our mountains. Massey and Don Blankenship has convinced people that republican leadership is for coal..what a crock of shit! All the democrats want is for the Trillionaire coal owners to spend a little money on clean coal and to get it underground instead of destroying our mountains, wildlife and water!

  • Well, I'm certainly not against progress, but it hurts to see it done irresponsibly with no regard to Mother Earth. Thanks for watching.

  • it also a nice song, i meant to say that as well.

  • Thank you so very much.

  • cool pictures...although we all know mountaintop removal strip mining and underground coal slurry injection has done far more damage and caused more 'trouble in Appalachia' than any gas drilling ever has. drilling a hole vs. blowing up a mountain range...Im against any form of irresponsible resource extraction, be it gas or otherwise, but gas drilling does not even compare to MTR strip mining and coal processing in terms of environmental and cultural damage in Appalachia.

  • You are right....no doubt! It just happened to be gas people who tore "my mountain" up and inspired the song. Thanks for watching.

  • love it!!

  • Thanks!!

  • I love this new video, Dad. Y'all have some great wildlife shots that fit it just perfectly. I can't wait to get started on our next CD!!!!! I've already found my part for this song lol.
