I agree that there's enough material in the book for two movies, but I was worried that most of the cool action sequences (other than the chase at the beginning) would be in the (sigh) second half. Still, there's no way in hell I'm missing this. Will look for it on kookicá now!

Towards the beginning of the film I had my doubts due to it's semi-lagging pace, but once it sped-up and ended, I realized I just saw one of the best films of the year, thus far. One day, Hachiko is bringing the ball and doing "Dog stuff", even at this day, the professor dies. The dog is feeling this and wants to say goodbye his own way.

@mischabe4 The confusion with Shibas and Akitas comes from the fact that when they shot the movie they used Shibas to portray Hachiko as a puppy. Later they replaced the Shibas with an Akita.
@SMILESZ2 I own a shiba myself - so I know ;) Akita puppies are not that different looking from shibas. Since grown up dogs are easier to train than puppies the filmmakers used shibas to portray the young Hachi. Check the trailer again and you will see the shibas.
if i ever see a person with a japanese akita i will cry, and tell them how lucky they are. anybody with such a loyal animal is a lucky person, they're always there for you even if they are dying, they try to help you. truely devoted to their masters. especialy Hachiko.

I have never cried so hard in my life, as when my 14 yr old Akita, Hooch, died. I've gone through multiple family deaths without crying, but when Hooch died, i broke. Went downstairs, he was laying there, wagging his tail, i petted him, walked into my computer room, came back out 15 mins later, he was laying halfway to the room from where he was, dead. He tried to make it to me to say goodbye. That's the loyalty of an Akita, undflinching devotion even when they're dying.
lol you should watch the movie they chose a reli nice akita too and whoever the trainer was my hat goes off to them some of the stuff it does is a puppy was either a huge amount of training or a hell of alot of luck lol

@PlayerSkillFTW perhaps he was also trying to tell you how much he was grateful to have you as his /family. my rottweiler died long time ago at much younger age (just turned 8 yr old two weeks prior to his death) due to various sickness and he couldnt even move his lower body. i had never felt so powerless in my entire life but during the night of his death, i heard his voice as if he was trying to say last goodbye. i know i wasnt dreaming but it kind of eased my sorrow.
I remember i had an akita, he was my bestfriend and he actually waited for me at the front door when i came from school but then we had to leave and we gave him back to the guy we bought him from :-\ i miss him so much. he is the exact same as the dog in Hachi: a dogs story.. im defo buying another one when im older i love them (L)(L)!

I love this movie because i love dogs.I cant believe this is a true story and Hatchi rily did waited 9 years till he died.No matter what religion says, Dogs have souls and i believe when they die, they too get to go to heaven.

Hachiko was an Akita Inu. Shibas are a smaller breed, much smaller than Akita.

@mischabe4 The confusion with Shibas and Akitas comes from the fact that when they shot the movie they used Shibas to portray Hachiko as a puppy. Later they replaced the Shibas with an Akita.

@SMILESZ2 I own a shiba myself - so I know ;) Akita puppies are not that different looking from shibas. Since grown up dogs are easier to train than puppies the filmmakers used shibas to portray the young Hachi. Check the trailer again and you will see the shibas.

if i ever see a person with a japanese akita i will cry, and tell them how lucky they are. anybody with such a loyal animal is a lucky person, they're always there for you even if they are dying, they try to help you. truely devoted to their masters. especialy Hachiko.

I can testify about dog´s loyalty,i had one in my life,who was the most beautiful and amazing proof of loyalty in my life,dogs have a soul,dogs feel and are the best faithful dogs,i cried a lot when I saw this movie,it brought to me many beautiful and real stories about my dog,hachiko was a proof of love too!

i missed u, hachiko. i wish i could have a dog like you. such a loving and loyal to its owner. i cant control but to cry everytime i watch this movie. its really heartbreaking. hachiko waited for 10 years for his master not knowing that he wont be back anymore. oh, hatchi ur such an amazing dog. for sure ur already in heaven with ur master now. RIP hatchi.

If I ever get an Akita, I'll make it's Middle name Hachi.
That's the thing with Akitas. One of the most loyal and Loving breeds I will ever see, right next to the Pitbull Terrier. They are dedicated, Loving, Loyal and Faithful, Just like Hachiko.

I have never cried so hard in my life, as when my 14 yr old Akita, Hooch, died. I've gone through multiple family deaths without crying, but when Hooch died, i broke. Went downstairs, he was laying there, wagging his tail, i petted him, walked into my computer room, came back out 15 mins later, he was laying halfway to the room from where he was, dead. He tried to make it to me to say goodbye. That's the loyalty of an Akita, undflinching devotion even when they're dying.

@PlayerSkillFTW perhaps he was also trying to tell you how much he was grateful to have you as his /family. my rottweiler died long time ago at much younger age (just turned 8 yr old two weeks prior to his death) due to various sickness and he couldnt even move his lower body. i had never felt so powerless in my entire life but during the night of his death, i heard his voice as if he was trying to say last goodbye. i know i wasnt dreaming but it kind of eased my sorrow.

I remember i had an akita, he was my bestfriend and he actually waited for me at the front door when i came from school but then we had to leave and we gave him back to the guy we bought him from :-\ i miss him so much. he is the exact same as the dog in Hachi: a dogs story.. im defo buying another one when im older i love them (L)(L)!
