For example: A person of less than average income gets murdered.

Murray Rothbard was one to advocate for private police forces and makes compelling arguments as to why they would be effective.

I wouldn't volunteer to pay for a group that put people into rape camps for snorting coke or paying for sex. Given the current demographics in the US, I would bet that many would not choose to pay for those types of "services" "offered" by the police. And as cost per person rose, fewer would be willing to pay the cost.

it is interesting to me that irony is such a timely thing, and i wonder about how many things from the past i have guffawed and dismissed because i only saw them without the context and subtleties of their own time. it also makes me wonder about the things that i generally percieve as being purposefuly ironic and sarcastic, and whether abhorrent actions in the past have sometimes been justified by having the sentiments behind them purposefuly presented in such a evasive manner for broad appeal.

For example: A person of less than average income gets murdered.

As satire goes, this is fairly decent but it's also fairly misinformed. Ayn Rand for instance actually spoke against private police forces and believed that the military and police should be government sourced.
Murray Rothbard was one to advocate for private police forces and makes compelling arguments as to why they would be effective.

I wouldn't volunteer to pay for a group that put people into rape camps for snorting coke or paying for sex. Given the current demographics in the US, I would bet that many would not choose to pay for those types of "services" "offered" by the police. And as cost per person rose, fewer would be willing to pay the cost.
Yes, turn the police into a group funded by choice rather than force, and I foresee a more humane world.

...the point is, of course, that of course there should be a public option in health insurance. The police department is a government-run entity, they conduct investigations and enforce laws. As a Jewish person I resent the fact that you even bring up the holocaust as an argument. The nazis had a federally mandated health care system for the Jewish people too. Well you shouldnt,, It takes an astronomical ammount of money to make you "feel" safe,,Not to mentionthe lines for getting help, my Grandfather went blind on national healthcare waiting for a simple Procedure they do here every day. he was placed on a list for months,and by the time they got to him, his retinas detached and there was nothing they could do..He spent the rest of his days blind and he didnt deserve that..You want hospitals run like that?We couldnt afford to make it without lists...

to answer your question. No. I don't want hospitals run like the way you described, but I also will not say that universal health care system can't be run better... look at the other countries that with successful health care systems that cost a fraction (i.e. Japan, Switzerland, Tiawan...)

What happens to the 47 million without health insurance in America? Do tell. I doubt that *even you know* what happens to them. There are 300 million people in America, so youre going to tell me that out of 300 mil 47 mil are without insurance? So insuring those supposedly 47 mil requires a 1000 page 1 trillion dollar bill? if they don't have health insurance and are treated in an emergency room (which by law has to take them) the taxpayer pays the bill... btw... most of those problems could have been treated... but without preventative care the small problem morphs into a more costly one...
BTW... Obama said it'll cost 900 billion (not a trillion) over ten years... maybe you should take your hands out of your asshole and pick up a calculator...

As entertaining as this may be, it is a shallow criticism of those opposing public health care.
The Constitution demands a force to keep public civility.
It does not demand a force to pay for health care. (The General Welfare Clause was determined not to even extend to agricultural subsidies.)
If Democrats want to do this, they must amend the Constitution to allow for it. The amendment process was added for a reason, so that States and local groups of people can be heard. It is that simple.
