We have invented practically everything, cars, aeroplanes, telephones, computers, light bulbs, electricity, refridgeration, etc., etc., etc. We have produced classical music, art and architecture. This is what this country is missing, Patriotism. Why? Every other country has it. I don't understand why we seem to put ourselves down all the time. Land of hope and glory AND Jerusalem are the National Anthems for The United Kingdom Of Great Britain And Northern Ireland, God Save The Queen is England's National Anthem. Personally i think Jerusalem should be England's National Anthem and God Save The Queen Should be for the UK. :)

The jet engine is not such a terribly important invention compared to say, the numerical system, the discovery of aerodynamics and the generation of electricity. Numberics were thought up by arabs, and medicine has been a looong long tradition among virtually everyone. Sure england thought up some stuff, but nothing too unmissable. Just as most inventions would have been made one time or another (electricity for example, was gonna be used once, no matter who invented it). Holland has it's small inventions too, just like any other country.
