Is there any reason for a lob line in this game? In both 10 and 5-pins, lofting the ball out further gives you better accuracy.

@semtex2you In Candlepin Bowling, if a ball makes contact with the floor after it crosses the lob line, it's considered a foul.

If the pins are knocked down as a result of a lob in a first ball, the bowler could be forced to reset and loses a ball.

However, if a Bowler lobs in his/her second or third ball in a frame, any pins knocked down resulting from a lob will not count. In addition, the Bowler will not be allowed to reset the pins.

I dont get why you guys have to hate on eachother? both are very hard if you dont practice. Candlepin requires great accuracy while ten-pin needs a mix of spin and power. I love both and think you should rag until you are great at both.

No one seems to realize that Ten Pin is so much easier to score in. The amount of 300 games today in ten pin is ridiculous. There has NEVER been a 300 game in candlepin. Scoring is what counts in the end which is why in my opinion candlepin is much more fun because the scoring is low and it's very hard to really bring an average up by a lot.

Unfortunately around my parts ten pin is all you get if if you like to bowl. So, I'm stuck. In ten pin there are alot of miss hit strikes and lucky strikes, but there is still the challenge of keeping good form and consistency with your shot. Wish there was candlepin around in florida. Would also like to try my hand at duckpin bowling too.

Candlepin is way better than 10 pin. No need to throw hard...just the ball is so light and you get more pin action.

dude 10pin is 10 times better...you accually need skill and can get a good average that guys average was 129...that sucks

I'm knocking the skill required for 10pin. You need the proper speed and spin to knock down all the spares.

But candlepin needs laser precision or you'll miss since the ball is the same size as the pin. To a beginner 10pin seems to just being able to hit the pin that's standing.

With candlepin you have fallen wood to play. It's strategic to hit it in the right place to send it flying to pick up crazy spares.

I will also agree that luck plays a part with candlepin depending on how the wood lays. With 10 pin the pins are cleared so every shot is the same..wood does not play a factor.

I tried duckpin and the lane is so greased up the blass sliude around. That's why they throw a backwards spin. It's not fun at all.

If you grew up with 10 pin your partial to it. Candlepin the same. I'll say I put candlepin first, 10 pin a close second, and duckpin a distant third.

the reason 10 pin could be an olympic sport is because every plit is always the same. It's purely skill no luck cause there is no fallen wood with a luck factor.

Candlepin however is way more fun. 10pin is more professional. Duckpin is plain old stupid.

Common misconception of a t*npin bowler. Yes, 1290 sucks in t*npin, but 129 in candlepin is pretty damn impressive. I've been at it for 6 years, and my avg is only 111

Not anyone can Tenpin bowl....trust me I've seen some horrible tenpin bowlers.

But....I know I could never do this. I would hurt myself seriously if I tried. Probalby hurt the masking units, and pinsetters too lol

@HalifaxChagnon When I was living in Nova Scotia, I used to play Candlepin Bowling occassionally. Its definitely a hard Bowling variation to play.

heheh think I finaly know what "half wisker" means. Must mean your just a "half wisker" off the pocket, so you go from a possible strike to just getting 2 pins.

I bowl tenpin internationally... i'd love to try candlepin... i dont understand though, surely they could be more accurate if they didnt just rip it?

I need to check the rules on this. You get THREE shots a frame? I take it strikes are almost impossible. Also they leave the dead wood after each shot, odd.
