It would seem to me that perfect pitch could be developed (of course I may be wrong). What is more amazing to me - but not to others - is the fact that we are capable of matching pitches so easily. This means that when we hear a pitch, we can respond, not with a name of a note, but with an exact flexion of the vocal muscles. This seems like it would be harder to do.
MUSICIANS WITH PERFECT PIRCH CAN RECOGNISE WHICH KEY THE ORCHESTRA IS PLAYING IN.
GEORGE ROBERTS THE WORLDS GREATEST BASS TROMBONIST HAS PERFECT PITCH PLUS A WONDERFUL SOUND AND A GIFT FOR MUSICAL EXPRESSION,LISTEN TO GEORGE FOR PROOF!
@SourcesAreEverything dude shut up and get lost please!, you dont even hv a clue what ur talking about here. Any musician CAN develop perfect pitch later in life, or at least improve their perception and recognition of individual pitches a LOT with proper training. Its necessary to understand what it is first cos if you dont understand what it is how can you develop it??. like i said get out of here brainiac!
Why do you think like that. Sound is like color, it has a frequence wave. You may learn the name of color you see even later in life just as you make learn the name of the sound you hear even later in life.
@SourcesAreEverything I learned when I was 18 years old...define this period. I'm a documented source...yeay...I get to brag, ......maestroanth///and curiousgeorge.....you don't beat those even if you're bornwith it. NOt this fag.
I do not have perfect pitch because its not really what I was aiming, so I do not practice to obtain it. My goal when I created the program was only to help me understand music by ear, at first I was unable to know if a note played was a "C" or an "A" for example. To me an "A" and an "A" one octave higher or lower sounded completely different and I couldn't hear them to be equal in harmonic frequencies.
I learned to recognize some pitches and it progressed but it was not practical. you may gain it to some degree but when asked to produce the pitch I was never able to. also reproducing a melody using pitch does not work unless you were born with perfect pitch. Most people think in scale/intervals/distances. its not the same
You are saying that we are not born or that some few are born with perfect pitch?
Are we born with the ability to see colors? The answer is no, we only see in black and white when we are born and after a month or so we can see colors. But even if we do see colors we cannot name the colors since we cant speak and once we get to speak we still cant name them because we need to learn the colors with practice.
Perfect pitch is the same, we all have what is needed to develop perfect pitch but its done with practice... no other way. Learning to recognize some pitches didnt help you and I agree, its like recognizing a few colors, what is it worth?
But once you understand colors you dont have to know the names of all colors to be able to compare one color to an other to know if they are the same or not. This is what you will be able to do once your perfect pitch is well tuned... know when a tone is equal to your reference.
@TellPod meh i kinda know what u mean but not really , i learnt all the pitches and given longer periods of listening to a note carefully can go to quarter tones sometimes but pure notes instantly, i can sing back the pitches, well the first pitch im asked i can do fast but to change between notes i find kidna hard, but tbh i dont sing at all normally anywaysl ol
Building perfect pitch is something easy since its something we all have inside. Once your perfect pitch is well tuned you will be able to listen to music and know in what keys its played and you will be able to learn the song you wish to play much faster.
thanks for soft. if it works i might do donation.

One can NOT be trained in absolute pitch later in life, most likely after a critical period required for acquisition that occurs early in life.
(Bermudez, P. & Zatorre, R. (2009). A distribution of absolute pitch ability as revealed by computerized testing. Music Perception, 27, pp. 89-101.)
TonePitch, I question your sources.
