I wouldnt say that is much blockage at all..... if you have any increase in velocities its most likely due to how tortuous the ICA is. iId they say you were >50% on that side? If so I don't concure.
Using a stethoscope is how you audibly hear a bruit. Bruits are usually caused by tortuous (curvy) vessels in the neck. They are heard by your doctor putting a stethoscope over your neck and listening. Usually the sound for a bruit is a "whooshing" sound heard with the stethoscope.
The sound you are hearing is most likely a curvy vessel. Bruits are usually caused by curvey vessels and or stenotic regions in your carotid artery systems.
@DEliteZz , mother was detected with left carotid bruit, fibro-calcific plaque in right CCA to right ICA. There was a calcific plaque in left CCA...no evidence of significant stenosis. after doctor did some doppler study
Earlier to diagnosis ( before 1 year of detection ) she complaint of hearing some sounds in left hear...which she described as " buck buck " we consulted a ENT who said that it was tinnitus then finally after one year ... we found it to be an artery issue
