1 of the most (criminally) underrated batsman of all time, along with Damien Martyn, Alec Stewart & Chanderpaul. And hes a pretty good commentator as well!
@TheSinnical Couldn't have said it better myself, man. I agree with all the names you've mentioned. Cullinan and Robin Smith are ridiculously underrated as well. Especially the latter, as he was one of the best players against pure pace that one could imagine.
@dumbfcks Dude i hate batsmen infact i find batting quiet boring, but athers was a pleasure to watch i can't tell why also Robin Smith and Naseer Hussain!!!!! i think i like athers maybe coz of his duel with my fav fast bowler Allan Donald but its more to that, when he became captain he also became a world class batsman!!! i was in Dublin for 2 days with mates we were up to no good up der!!!!
@dumbfcks Nah i find batting boring when indians prepare flat pitches for tendulkar so he can keep scoring runs, the only reason i hate batting!!! Athers was gutsy very hard to get out!!!! Probably the best captain England ever hard, Hussain was pretty awsome captain too!!!

One of my favourite batsmen TBH and I admire him enormously as a commentator and writer.
