  • hehe its matilda! but with great parents :3 hehe xox

  • That is really inspiring.

  • I love Fireese :)

  • OMG! She is so flippin' cute! (and smart!)

  • shes so cute!!

  • My best friend is an interpreter and taught her, now three year old, twins how to sign. She tells me how it was the best thing she ever did and it helped reduce a lot of stress. I remember going to her house when they were about one. Her son in the living room. I asked him what was wrong and he put his hand to his stomach and forehead. I didn't understand what he was doing but my friend came in and said he was signing SICK to me. I was thoroughly impressed.

  • I believe that you are doing an AWESOME job with your daughter, you're nurturing her interests, & seem to be encouraging & supportive of her. Kuddos to you, Mom, on a job well done :0)

  • cuttee

  • wow! this is amazing! i hope to be a mom like you and teach my kids (if i have any) to start signing at birth! you're truly inspirational!

  • I think signing is good and very helpful. And I think literacy is very important and we should read to and with our children from day one. But I've always wondered if there is a point at which we are rushing children. I mean reading at 4 is great.. but is it necessary. Should we let our 4 year olds just be four? Will children that are reading so early eventually be bored of school due to being so advanced? This video is awesome and very neat. I'm just not sure it is best for all children.

  • @woohooitscrystal we actually didn't force anything with her, she picked it up very naturally. She always loved books and wanted to know what the words were. We simply showed her. We hope that she won't be bored in school because there are so many subjects to keep her interested.

  • @woohooitscrystal Hi! Just wanted to say that I could read really well when I was 4 also. My parents never pushed me to do anything. They just read with me a lot so I learned to love books and reading. I was never too bored in school and I am now in my third year as a biology major at a UC school, so my parents must have done something right ;]

  • My 1st grader is reading at level 24, when the rest of his class is at level 2. He is obsessed with books.

  • are you serious!?!

reading at grade 2-3 level at kinder garden is amazing!

  • shes reallyy cute!! ^_^

  • You are an amazing parent, I hope when I have kids I am able to do as well as you!

You are a very good role model.

  • My daughter who is 15 months old is somewhat behind in her development due to some health issues she had up to 7 months old but her fine motor development is pretty good so I have been trying to teach her sign language as I pick it up myself! She can sign more now (she actually uses it whenever she wants to eat not just for more) and she started learning milk recently! I hope I am not starting her too old but due to the development she is now finally able to do some of the signs!

  • yeah i tried to vote for you as well but it would not let me , I hope that you won you deserve it!

  • @Jalynn99 Thank you very much for trying :) The voting is now closed and we will find out this Thursday who won... I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!

You must be the luckiest mom EVER EVER EVER. hehehe :)

    Greetings from Croatia!!! :)))

  • Wow!!! She reads soooo well! Please put more videos up of her :-) I just love them.

  • Laura, This is amazing! I have been doing sign language with my Daughter Allie since she was 6 months old, she is 3 and is reading at a first grade reading level, and most people dont believe that Sign helps the development. Also my son (22 months) is hard of hearing and it makes it so much easier for her to communicate with her brother

  • wow, never let her down! She IS going to be a GENIUS! :D Happy life ahead!

  • Wow, this is wonderful!

  • i see future scientist there or president ^^

  • This video is simply amazing. You're great, Fireese! Greetings from Brazil :)

  • OMG she reminds me of the girl from 'Matilda' who loved to read when she was little :3

    thats amazing!

    :D

  • wow She is so cute

  • I'm sorry I tried to vote for you but I'm in Ireland so it wouldn't let me. Love, love, love your videos :o) Good luck with the competition.

  • @Lnr83 Thanks for trying :-) Yes, it is only open to Canadians to vote. I appreciate your comment!!

  • I love the map! Where'd you get that at? We can't find anything that big and detailed... And I'm super impressed at Fireese!

  • @viigraphix Thanks :-) We LOVE this map. We got it at a paint store but I just looked on ebay and typed in 'map of the world wallpaper' and it came up. Fireese loves the map and we talk about all the fun places she could go.

  • She really is a credit to you & your hard work, well done, she's a star!

  • Wow! I can't believe we've been watching your vids for 2 years! F. Is growing up so fast! What a bright girl! I believe learning to sign has improved communication withour son and that's why he's pretty easy going [we started at birth, but nowhere near the intensity you have with F]. Blessings!

  • That is one smart girl you have. I bet you are so proud of her and yourself.

From Christine in state of Indiana.

  • Aww..she is ADORABLE! How does signing help a child to learn to read, earlier and easier?

  • @leylasgram Thanks :-)

We taught her the manual alphabet at an early age and then started putting sounds to the letters and linking them into words. Children take in sign language in a different portion of their brain as an image vs the regular sound that verbal words are. Learning language with the use of sign language is kinesthetic and visual vs just auditory. Watch some of my other videos of her, she could recognize the hand shapes very early and was reading at the age of 2.5 years.

  • Wow,,she is so smart! She has grown so fast, such a beautiful young lady :) Laura, you must be soo proud of her..she's a star. xx

  • @staydreamer1 Yes, I am super proud of her, she's my little girl how could I not be :-)

  • shes such a sweet little girl

  • @staydreamer1 Thanks so much for trying, I appreciate you taking the time to go and look!!

  • You should teach ppl how to raise kids to be so well-mannered.

  • Hello!

  • Well done!

  • That's great, she speaks so well!

  • Fireese is gorgeous and so so smart!!! She obviously enjoys learning and it's really wonderful to see. She will go very far in life and I can't wait to see future updates on Fireese and little Hartford :]

  • she is a very bright little girl :) she will really excel in school!!

  • omg she's amazing!

  • I remember reading with my cousin who's grade 2, and Fireese is at the same level as her if not easily reading more fluently. I'd also love to know how Hart is doing with regard to signing!

One question: I know Fireese was reading words by age 2, but what do you think of these advertisements on youtube claiming to teach babies to read and do maths before their first birthdays? Thanks :)

  • @bilong92 Thanks :-) I'm not sure about those programs. The main thing for kids is to make learning fun and enjoyable. If you instill a love of learning and don't 'push' kids then they will pick things up quickly. My point is play and have fun and educate at the same time. My whole point with Fireese and teaching her sign language wasn't to have a 'smarter' child but to allow her the ability to communicate with me. The added bonus what the smarts that came with it!

  • This little girl is pretty, I hope it will become a powerful person in the future, I wish to have success in life.

  • Shes so amazing! What a great little reader. I miss these videos so much! Its been great seeing her grow up xxx

  • She's brilliant! (and so cute!)

  • she is so smart and amazing!

  • so inspiring and cute!!
