I bought a 50" panasonic. It's awesome.

This model on this video is a little old. The TV I got has a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, and has a panel life of 100,000 hrs. It's definitely worth a look. It cost me $899.99 over a year ago. Might be cheaper today, or you might find better TVs than the one I got for the same price.

You want a high contrast ratio but the box does not give the real contrast ratio most plasma are real around 2000:1, and most lcds (not led) are between 1000 to 1500:1

no its not, it just means the TV accepts 1080p, then the TV down converts it to 720p. you'd probably get a better picture if you left it on 720p for your ps3 so there is no scaling at all

None at all. It's perfect . and the 720p resolution is outstanding! especially if you have an HD cable box and blu ray player. It's the best I've ever seen on any TV, no lie. Make sure your dad gets an HDMI cable and an HD Cable Box soon after the purchase so that he can experience TRUE HD!

Isn't 1024 x 768 a 3:4 ratio? This looks like a wide-screen, and Mr. Logan SAYS it's "wide-screen" too. Widescreen resolution would be 1280 x 768 or 1280 x 800, which is my laptop's native resolution, and it's a normal wide-screen display. I measured it with my Learjet Owner ID card.

Warning: There is a difference in models. TH-50PX600U is 1080p and TH-50PX60U isnt. Notice the model number for a cheaper set (600u/60u). This HDTV is incredible. Just do a search online for these models. They show nothing but great reviews and comments.
