  • Wouldn't that better away from the house so you won't get caved in when the house gets destroyed and the debris falls on top of the sliding lid?

  • You'd be out of luck! Being weather-wise is part of surviving in tornado alley. The knowledge that storms may be present is usually well received hours before storm systems move through a given area. We just don't park the cars over the shelter during those times.

  • what if a storm comes and a car was on top of it

  • I forsee someone parking their car right over top of that in a real emergency. "Honey where did you put the keys?"

  • @jdm1066 id be sliding the kids under the car and into it then id break a window and put it in neutral

  • No secondary exit. Inside of rolling door, however, has fittings on it to be used with a supplied ratchet "come along" that can be used to crank the door open even if debris is lying on it.

  • These are extremely popular in the Southern Great Plains. And, remember, you're only in one of these things about 30 minutes at longest! The "pole" or banister is just an add-on, one does not need it for ingress or egress. RE: Water, this is on high ground and over nearly a year with a couple of blowing downpours...no water collected. Dan

  • Is there a secondary exit? What would you do if you became trapped in that location?

  • anyone want a game of hide and seek?

  • I hope that water doesn't flood that because it should have been built apx 3" above the surrounding level to prevent water from flooring in.

  • Grandma your very nice!

  • Was there a real TORNADO?

  • Hello Ms Fritzl.

  • if the wind tosses that pole somewhere then what?

  • @privatepersonalc then you man up an climb out like a BIG BOY

  • @BradMr1975 I don't think you can man up or down iif the stick is missing. LMFAO!

  • way to slow !!! keep practicing this drill till you can do it in ten seconds!!!

  • That is awesome! Someday I will build a house and when I do, there will be one of those in my basement ready to go!!

  • and when your not using it for a tornado, you can perform your own oil changes :-)

  • @patchcords ha ha never thought of that! badass!

  • That is one fine shelter!

  • the tornado would have sucked you in if it took that long!

  • that is nice teaching the kids how to get ready for a tornado!!!
