  • i LOVE IT MEN , SEE REALLY COOL

  • DEATH METAL JUG BAND!

  • Hey, your neck is your fingerboard curved or did you make it flat, I just recently did an upright washtub build myself and left it flat. Great video, great bass!

  • @CrawdadWarden

It's rounded...not as much as a traditional upright, but enough so that the transition from playing this bass to a true upright is not that far off. The only major difference is that you could never play my bass 'arco' (with a bow) as it lacks the cutaways obviously, and the arch of the neck and bridge is not as severe.

  • what are your measurements and angles for the frame? Am trying to biuld one myself so any input would be greatly appriciated.

  • its alright but it has no curves and its a flat top so the sound isn't really that great

  • not to sound like a jerk, but its out of tune. or at least, the camera makes it sound really really flat.

  • @bowflop No, not flat - that would be the player :)

I've only played for about 10-15 mins on an upright prior to building this. It's tuning and intonation is amazingly accurate. I used my iphone 4 to record this.

  • Right when he started playing the neck fall's off.

  • what kind of strings are you using? are they commercial strings or weed whacker material?

  • @ArkRed1

they are a weedwacker variant that I bought off ebay for about 30 bucks. Well worth the money. :)

  • You play great brother , also would like to know about the neck and bridge.

I know you can buy bridge's and neck's in Ebay , not much of a cost and great stuff you can find. @robftl760

  • @Jaherlich

bridge and neck and finger board are all scratch-built. Typically, the fingerboard is 'flush' with the neck. Mine is not. Instead (and to make it easier to build) the neck is just a flared piece of maple the thickness from front to back is still the same, but the neck is only about 1.3 inches wide. I will make another vid soon to explain the build-up and construction.

  • did you make the neck and bridge? where can you buy them? and also, what kind of wood did you use?
