  • The UK has awesome game shows. All of our US shows are just copies from the UK, and they don't even last as long.

  • Why is it in ITV game shows nowadays, they have to fill up time in the show by showing a clip giving almost the entire life story of each contestant? If they hadn't included that maybe they would have had time to put the flight simulator round that they scrapped for some unknown reason.

  • Bring back Knightmare.

  • too cerebral for the majority of the American crowd

  • Is this the one Reddit is going on about?

  • The new one is an abomination

  • STRONLY AGREED. What a fucking shit fest it was.

  • I cant wait for Jan 2010 when its back again!

  • Is it defo coming back?

  • screw this, only questions. that's boring. Who that dumb dumb compare this shit with Crystal maze?

  • This guy is on "work experience" so go easy on him, also he did water the plants. The presenter . . . . . .

  • Bring back the Crystal Maze........

  • Pardon the pun, but I had to nickname the remake the Krapton Factor, because it SUCKED. I watched the first episode of the remake and was gobsmacked in a very bad way.

  • Can 't you do better than Krapton Factor? Here's what I would call it, if I were writing a MAD Magazine spoof:

"This is the game where players test their physical and mental abilities to the limits, because that sounds better than 'play video games, solve jigsaw puzzles, and watch a comedy skit'! This show is absolutely perfect, except that it's dull to watch at times, and pretentious, and hokey...heck all of these weaknesses add up to...

    THE KRYPTONITE FACTOR

  • I only picked it as a poor pun and because I couldn't think of anything else after watching it. I admit, the new one is crap. Kryptonite Factor wins, I concede

  • Thanks, but unless a successful version airs in the U.S., I don't think MAD will be doing a spoof anytime soon.

  • The winner Aaron Bell, his brother goes to my school

  • Bens hot. (:

  • Whenever an old classic is remade, it's always going to be an acquired taste. However I must be honest, I absolutely love the new Krypton Factor. Whilst bringing it up-to-date they've remained ultra-faithful to the original format, right down to bringing back the K-morphs for each round! Anyone care to make a prediction on who this year's UK Superperson will be...?

  • I know. The Krypton Factor happens to be one of THE best game shows ever. Ben Shephard has done an excelleht job in Gordon Burns' place.

  • 2 problems, no flight simulator round? that was the best bit of the show!!!! and the assault course is filmed horribly!! bring back burns!!

  • Oh god, remove the interview portions!

  • Its a real effort at a remake. I can't complain that they have been half arsed about it. Hopefully it will be a good series.

So glad that rediculous Flight Simulator is gone.

  • It's not a bad effort. It's always going to be difficult to except any change of something you grew up with, but at least this is quite faithful to the original.

I'd consider it perfect, if only they sort out these issues...

Drop the canned audience, use a real one.

"Activate the cube" gets irritating quickly.

    Bring back the flight simulator.

Rethink that assault course, it's a mess.

  • It is in fact a real audience!

  • I agree with much of what you said. They have revamped it, as so to be representative of the 21st century. Would have been nice if they kep the response round, and yes the assault course is a mess. The theme tune though...isn't the most memorable.

  • I would add a Response Round and make the assault course a four-player race (and we don't need to given women a headstart). I would cut down the Mental Agility round by having players answer the same questions by using a touch-screen. The time used for correct answers is used to break ties. Also for Observation, we could implement tiebreakers. I would say that the higher position goes to the player with the fewer incorrect answers, then we go to the time used to jump in for correct answers.

  • With Gladiators, between series 2 and 3 they changed it from 6 games to 5, making room for previews (time wasted basically). The 1995 KF was a step in the right direction I thought with the Superround and I can't believe the format wasn't that successful. Yes the touch screen was, and still would be a good idea. I agree with simiano42 also, that the camera-work on the assault course is woeful.

  • I liked the 1995 series but I found it a travesty that they cut the Intelligence test. The Super Round was cool (especially with that parachute drop) but I think it could have used some explanation (like how does the code at the beginning of the race pertain to the maze? Each player had the same code but a different route).

Here's my idea for a Mental Agility test: players are given a seven-letter word and have to find the corresponding phone number (KRYPTON becomes 5797866).

  • A touch screen? Why? Do we really want another round in which the contestants are silent?

  • I was hoping it would require physical dexterity on the part of the contestants. Also, it would allow us to give them all the same questions.

  • Dexterity is probably not appropriate for the MA round. Second point is sensible, wouldn't be very fast paced though. I think I prefer the way it's done currently.

  • What about the way it was done in 1995? They had a set of four items (letters, numbers, dates, or shapes) and the contestant had to pick the one or two that pertained to the host's statement. Only the first player to punch in the correct answer on their touch screens scored, and the set of images changed every eight questions. The round ended after two minutes.

The Observation round that year also used images and touch screens, like the 1991-1993 version but with only five questions.

  • The new theme tune is good, but its forgettable compared to the KF signature tune from 1986 to 1993. I agree with TonyDuMont about the unnessecary long introductions. Perhaps this is the reason why Response was removed.

I think the new Mental Agility and Intelligence rounds are excellent. Observation and General Knowledge are reasonable. The new assault course is rubbish however and I wish they never removed Response.

  • Those four colours seem to be VERY common on gameshows and Multiplayer games.

  • I'm surprised that they kept the speed tests from 1988-1993, but the lengthy introductions and interviews slowed down the speed. Also, the heart monitors were unnecessary. In 1995 the Mental Agility round showed a list of four items from a group (such as numbers or letters) to all players, and gave a series of statements pertaining to one or two items. Only the first player to provide the correct answer scored. The round lasted for two minutes, with the group changing every eight questions.
