  • Well Done !

  • I believe the car movie title refered to here is incorrect. At least in the USA, the 1969 Terry Thomas comedy car race movie was called, "Those Daring Young Men In Their Jaunty Jalopies". It was about a 1920's Monte Carlo rally.

  • @snowrocket

The film is known by it's original title "Monte Carlo or bust" everywhere except in the US, the title was changed to "Those Daring Young Men In Their Jaunty Jalopies" for it's US release.

  • @markh5682 Thank you for that insight, I stand corrected.

  • :{D

  • They were going to turn this film into a television series but they only got as far as the pilot.

  • @Marcsafon So what are you saying? That they thought that the TV show would soar in the ratings, but was grounded by strong winds of opposition by studio executives? Perhaps it was just a soaring idea that just wouldn't fly. Hee hee hee.

  • I rember this movie from when I was just a kid, loved the song, loved the movie, still do. They just dont make them like that any more, too bad!

  • That awkward moment when you want to make a fanvid for a radio program...

  • Graet movie ..great song for all that will become a pilot..

  • why dont pilots look like them nowdays

  • gold finger is the star

  • Clan/Squadron/whatever name for World of Warplanes CONFIRMED!

  • @Orayn I would join, when it's released :)

  • It's Terrry-Thomas, actually, don't you see? Yes....

  • This was on two floats at the Weston Super Mare Carnival... I just cant get it out of my head... I love it!

  • Someone please make a BF3 video with this song!

  • Email Cameron, Clegg & the other guy and demand the composer is belated knighted! Ron Goodwin was a composing genious! Yet we have people we have never heard of and did sod all being knighted! He has passed away, but.. HM PLEASE award some belated knighthoods on your most famous citizens!

  • came here after hearing Douglas and Arthur singing it in cabin pressure

  • The next time any shrink says I have BiPolar disorder, I will direct him to the UFOs for the polar bears at the melting North Pole. So there, stoopidhead psychiatrists; go shrink your own head. Notice that the polar bear named Knut died in the Berlin Zoo and a Nazi shot up rodeo town Tucson, AZ.

  • Thanks for the downloaded memories, Magnum PI, aka Guns And Moses for the Moo Cows.

  • Terry Thomas is genius!!!!!!!!

  • This song in one word is BRILLIANT

  • This song is an amazing joyous outburst.

  • Cabin Pressure. <3

  • @thewrongkhristol best radio show on the face of the earth

  • @SandwichesAndYou Quite so.

  • @thewrongkhristol That's why I came here too~

  • @thewrongkhristol THANK YOU! I love you so much for that comment.

  • I love those trombones, circa 21s.

No other instrument can do that...!

  • @TGRWorzel And I mustn't forget the banjo's. Trombones and banjo's, what a magical combination...!

  • I'd like to find the scene in which we first meet the Japanese. Men are riding tethered kites - dreamy.

  • Loved this as a boy - of course. This and "The Great Race" make a good double billing. Here we have the broad, comedic stereotyping still accepted in the 60"s. Wacky world escapism.

  • Rule Britannia ! ! ! !, this film is a classic, required viewing

  • Netflix has it for rent.

  • The amount of planes they trashed in this movie was incredible :P its like the blues brothers of airplanes xD loved it so much!

  • i remember singing this in my class in year 4

  • Oh my I wish I had this on DVD. It brings back so many memories!

Picture a young boy into everything aviation and you start to get the drift.

    What a fun movie.

  • Love the pictures of everybodies' favorite villain Terry Thomas

  • I'm so glad my dad showed me this movie

  • I didn't care much for the movie but the song was the best!

  • Great movie. i watched the original in school and for the next 5 years we sung that song. XD

  • Hahahahaha! I love it!!!!!!

  • My new favourite song.

  • FLYING MUHSHEENZ.

  • Lol, best movie ever XD

  • Great song , great movie ! Keep them flying !

  • The beginning of this movie showed old footage of early ventures into aviation, including some not leaving the ground, some getting into trouble afterwards. One brief shot was of an old Cessna glider that pulled up rapidly into a loop & the pilot fell out.

  • @niflap Yeah, I'm pretty sure he didn't fair so well. "yeeeesh!"

  • I had my Wings Parade yesterday, the final song we marched of with was this!

  • All Time favorite song!!!

  • what type of genre is this?

  • Who is singing? I want to buy CD!!

  • @harding46 Hello. The complete film score has just been released by Intrada Records. intrada.com

But you should hurry since it's only limited to 2000 copies. I just received my copy today. Cheers!

  • @harding46 Ah, sorry, I mean Ron Goodwin, of course :-) He did many great theme songs back then. I got this song on a compilation LP of his songs.

  • ser is nothing a german officer cannot do utter joy

  • i saw this film when i was about five years old and i can't say i remember anything about it but this song. i remembered that i liked the movie, though, which was unusual for me coz when i was that age i hated most movies. i probably wouldn't like it now. sounds pretty corny.

  • four people came downdity-down-down to a crash...

  • MUTLEY DO SOMETHING!

  • This song is the greatest achievement of mankind.

  • Without a doubt, this should be the nation's national anthem. None o' that 'God Save the Queen' outdated nonsense. Raise te flag, put this on and crank up the volume!

  • It's songs like this that make me glad I grew a mustache.

  • @frogisis I laughed so hard at this comment I cried

  • @frogisis lol all u need now is a german piked helmet :P

  • this magnificent song in one of the best films ever!!!

  • The Good Old Days of British Humor

  • Terry Thomas was the archetype for Dick Dastardly!

  • @VinnyMonster1 That makes sense, since they're both Fumbling Masters of Villainy! XD

  • @Baden98 Unfortunately, that makes Peter Falk into Mutterly!

  • @VinnyMonster1 Uh I think it was Eric Sykes actually :/

  • @Baden98 Yep, sorry, you're right. Maybe I was thinking of Monte Carlo or Bust?

  • 0:20 a it's Frank Skinner's trombones!!

  • One of the best film about the spirit of flying!

    AND .......... this wonderful music

  • how do i learn to fly , Like any other german officer would learn, From the instruction manual lol

  • @Bloodravendude A GERMAN OFFICER CAN DO ANYTHING

  • @MINIHermanator ANYTHING EVEN a duel with blunderbuss and ballon

  • Flying a plane is the best you can do in life

    with clothes on :-))))))

    I am only a Private Pilot - Cessna/Piper - but

the feeling is wonderful ....... a little bit closer to god ........

you never will stop, when you did it once!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ThePilot314

im currently a submariner in the navy and got offered a transfer of category to the airforce to be a pilot today, very tempting, big change though from 400m under to flying around

  • @heymikenadam

    Hi "boatsman"

YOU MUST DO IT and you will become - sometimes - totaly free and happy when you are in air with your plane!

And .. if you believe in .. a little bit closer to god or to your destiny.

As Leonardo da Vinci said [but never in air]:

"When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return."

Good luck and many happy landings

    Josef from Germany

  • @heymikenadam the german officer came close to a proper transfer

  • 'I say......' ;)

  • Delightful! I loved this movie, especially in Cinemascope in the theatre! But I'm sorry you didn't have even one shot of Jean-Pierre Cassel, the cuddliest, sexiest one of the group! (Need I say he was the Frenchman! C'etait tres joli, tres beau!

  • I loved that movie! LOL!

  • Ha ha! I wasn't expecting to see Dick Dastardly! Nice one!

  • Thanks for posting this, I've loved this since I was little...its a pity that they probably won't have a shin-dig to celebrate the 100yrs since it happened (yes, it really did happen); they did a fly-over back in the early 90's but with the way of the world at the moment, it might be deemed misplaced & unimportant?! Pity, as I think it would be fun to see all those old planes go up again & do that dangerous 22 miles of sea LOL! Thanks again.

  • From the 1965 movie Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines.

  • How come one cannot watch this on youtube. It is ridiculous how a good movie is put on here, and then they take it off. I was wanting to watch the whole movie. I think the youtube people are unfair sometimes. Thank you for post ing this

  • Oh, I do love the old movies and the sound tracks were great, just like this one. It belongs in my family research tree to highlight our own family guys who joined the airforce in the early 1900s. Thank you so much markh5682. I will of course contact you for your feedback. cheers sonya

  • "I ssay..

    Courtney..

Don't think you're going to get little treats like this ALL the time.."

  • Terry Thomas, what a cad!.

  • I only saw the film last month but I instantly fell in love with it!

    Great stuff!!

  • Last time i heard this song i was 6 years old, damn that brings back memories

  • listening to this brings back good memories

  • I've had this song stuck in my head since childhood XD

  • @nerdelicious5 Same!

  • @nerdelicious5 Me too!

  • @nerdelicious5 and I still sing it while flying my hangglider trike. ye ha happy times

  • @nerdelicious5 LOL same here!

  • I saw this movie 40 years ago in the Little River theater (near Miami, Florida). As a teenager fascinated with airplanes, it did motivate me to become a licensed pilot. I love flying - there's just nothing in the world like the feeling you get when you rush down a runway, pull back on the control yoke, and LEAVE THE GROUND!

  • dontmesswithbill23, when the movie was promoted in the usa by rhinebeck aerodrome owner cole palen, he was promised a plane used in the movie for his efforts. hoping for a quality flying replica, he was awarded with terry-thomas' ornithoptor. it is on display at the rhinebeck aerodrome in rhinebeck ny. they have a great collection and airshow, check their website, good day

  • Absolute shower!

  • does anybody know where one cn get the complete film.....on dvd preferably ?

  • It is available from amazon uk

  • Are u familiar with Utorrent? It's a free program u download, then go to a torrent site and download music or movies. I've downloaded much, then delete it after I've watched it, or somtimes keep it in the case of music. This movie is prolly available, as most movies are. If u have a dvd burner, u can burn it to a disc yourself.

  • @boet613 I TUNES

  • I saw this film over 20 years ago....I was 10 years old....this song stuck in my head all this time....amazing...thanks for the post

  • Dear All,

I have some questions about psychology:

    (1) Why do we love flying?

    (2) Why do we feel that flying is so funny and full of homour?

    (3) Why do we compose many songs and make many moives about aerospace?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative idea and brainstorm!!! :)

  • Great film!! Just love it!

  • Great theme to a classic.

  • this is great =D

  • the cartoon opening to the film with this song, anyone know where i can find it?? want it so badly

  • What a film score this is by the late great Ron Goodwin.

  • One of the catchiest songs I've ever heard. Best thing is, I saw the whole movie. It was magnificent...with those men and their flying machines. :3

  • I'm just glad I have it, if only it weren't on VHS or i'd let the world enjoy all the funny bits. lols, BALLOONS UNT BLUNDERBUSSES!?! lols

  • Great post! LOVE IT!!!

  • Dear All,

I have some questions about psychology:

    *Why do we love flying?

*What is so "magical" about flying that a song is written for it?

THANK YOU IN ADVNACE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

  • The freedom of flying about has fascinated man for far longer than it has been achievable, I would say its the freedom to move in directions not possible, similar to time travel or space travel.

  • I love this movie :))

  • Does the charleston across the living room.

  • Excellent, brings back memories, thanks for posting.

  • i could just watch that film...
