wow, i knew apartments in japan are small, but i think my room is bigger than your living room and kitchen combined. how big is this apartment in square meters?
I've been watching your latest renting in Japan video where you said rent could be a 1.000$ up to a couple of thousands if its in the city ... so you were talking about that kind of size? Or smaller? (Didn't find the kitchen too small )
Oh wow, I thought those floor storage compartments were only used in war times and in movies as an emergency stash. I never thought they were real. (I'm in my own little bubble and I don't want to leave ;-} )
How is the sleeping in a futon? I can imagine it's cold and hard.
I think you have heard this allot but can you tell me what are the chances for a young guy like me that haves 20 years old and healthy to get a job on Japan its one of my dreams! Thank you for the videos ^ ^,
What is it like for the AC or the heater during those really hot and really cold days?? I heard that it's kind of a problem, but what's your experience with it?
What happens if you spill water on the floor over the sub-floor food storage trap door? Or have to mop the floor? What keeps it from leaking down through?
I was about to ask you where the fridge was, but i played it back and saw it(i'm used to seeing big american/western ones) so kudos for me not asking a dumb question:) Also that floor "fridge" was really cool.
That storage space under the kitchen is awesome. Why didn't someone think to use that? What do you need pantries for? You gots floor! It actually did kind of look like a freezer so when you sort of hinted that it wasn't I was surprised.
You should do one about earthquakes! I've learned that there are abou 120 earthquakes per year in Japan. I'd love to go to Japan but earthquakes are pretty scarry...
So small, but then again, you only need what you use, in that sence I say GO Japanese!!!, my house is a townhouse, 3 bedrooms 2 1/2 baths, basement (unfinished, when done it will be another bedroom and another bath added), but do I need it, no...I think you guys are lucky with that style of living
1 question, do most Japanese people have slippers on all the time when inside a house?
I broke my arm once (and have a scar) because of slippers and hate to wear them because of it. Would I be expected to wear them if I entered a house for example?
Hey, would you please tell me wherer is the apt, like which city, how about the location. I am wondering the rental, because I want to live in Japan for few month :) thank you~!~!~
thank you so much Ive always wanted to see videos on you tube that showed many parts of japan well! im subscribing! xD hope your uploading more videos... and do you know Japanese? cause if you do i wanna know how you learned like did you just have classes or did you learn some other way....i guess haha
I haven't learned Japanese yet, because you cannot learn the japanese language without knowing the alpahbet. I would reccommend you to start of with Hiragana. There are four alphabetic languages in Japan; Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji and Romaji (roman letters).
I have so many people telling to start of with Hiragana. :-) And I feel that I understand the structure of the Japanese language a little bit more. ;-)
What!?! Seriously!?!? Here I have heard that living out there is ridiculous exspensive!?!? I guess if you live closer to tokyo it costs more...? Thank you soo much for sharing this info with me!
That is a really nice place you got for that much! I can't wait to move out to japan! Keep up the good work!
So you went to japan on a cultural visa, to learn martial arts... but now your self employed??? How does that work? What kinda work are you doing? Again, if you don't mind me asking this stuff, and if somebody else already asked... sorry for asking again! Appreciate the answers!
I know... I don't want to get too personal! I was just wondering. If you don't mind sharing, that would be awesome! If you do, that is cool too. I know all the videos are about japan. I really appreciate them! Have definetly informed me alot of what to expect when I move there!
Just trying to get info, on how people moved over to japan, how they are succeeding, and surviving over there? Will help me out alot! For when I move! Thanks again! =)
I have gone on the forum. All I hear about is teaching jobs. That is why, when I hear somebody else mention another type job, I get curious? I know there has to be other jobs for us americans besides teaching? Probally one of the easier ones, but there has to be other ways to work over there? I wish I had a BA in teaching, but I don't. I know it's been a while since you posted this video, but I just rewatched it and wondered, if you could maybe do a short little video on beds in japan?
You know: I've never seen a "futon" up close and would really like to know, how it is built!
Do you sleep well on one? Is it rather hard or does it feel soft? Do you roll it up every morning? And where and how would you store it during the day? What about sheets and linnen - what is most common in that departement in Japan?
Of course, I can't be the judge of that, as I don't know anything about the subject, but I'm still curious. Maybe you could just post a short answer for me?
Is it like a matress and kind of stiff? Or softer, more like a thick sleepingbag, that you can roll up? Can you feel the difference of lying on the floor as opposed to on a slatted frame? Do kids have their own smaller futons? Where are they put during the day and what do people put in its place?
Thanks for showing us your Place, Wish I could send you a bottle of Sake....thanks...if invited to somebody`s home is good to bring a little something too right??..
Cool the storage place for food.. I`ll store all my goodies there ....Your appartement is nice minimalistic...Thanks for inviting us to your place....Arigato...
for me it looks nice and coasy - anyway if you are working you are not at home for too long, so u need only the place to sleep, make some food, get a shower ;) pretty much the thing as i was living - 2 rooms per 2 flors + bathroom
I have heard a lot of good things about Japanese recycling, how they recycle pretty much all rubbish. Is that true, and how do they cope with it if there is so little space?
i actually live in an apartment, in the bay area [ california ], and i can tell you in terms of space there is a VAST difference. like, right now its just me and my mother, but we both have separate rooms, same size, i can fit my tv, futon/couch, PC desk & chair in here...and still have a bit of floor space!
plus theres a hallway and the toilet is together in the bathroom with the bathtub. the bathroom is the smallest room.
it looks so cozy ><

Two things:
1. Wasn't there a fuse panel in your kitchen before with breakers to switch the power back on when the breakers trip?
2. With that little compartment in the floor, do you ever run into problems if you say, spill something over top of it?

You don't need a BA in teaching, just a BA in anything.. to get a visa to teach.

i actually live in an apartment, in the bay area [ california ], and i can tell you in terms of space there is a VAST difference. like, right now its just me and my mother, but we both have separate rooms, same size, i can fit my tv, futon/couch, PC desk & chair in here...and still have a bit of floor space!
plus theres a hallway and the toilet is together in the bathroom with the bathtub. the bathroom is the smallest room.

yep!
The whole apartment would fit in one room of my house in my old country...

pretty cool space saving techniques, though. ive never seen anything like the trap door/food compartment before. xD
