  • it looks so cozy ><

  • its nicer then the one i have in the NYC O-O'

  • apartment :D i was waiting for some 10 floor buildings :O

  • Your appartment is lovely! Wish appartments like that were easy to find on real estates's websites for the Kanagawa area :(

  • I must have watched over 100 of your videos over the past week or so but i just realised i don't even know your name...is it a secret? :)

  • Two things:

    1. Wasn't there a fuse panel in your kitchen before with breakers to switch the power back on when the breakers trip?

    2. With that little compartment in the floor, do you ever run into problems if you say, spill something over top of it?

  • i really like this series! thanks so much for posting all of these

  • LMAO, the advertisement before this video was about the commemoration of the Japanese bombing of Australia in the 2nd World War...

    Coincidence? I think not.

  • best apartment ever! and i luv the fridge!!

  • Hellos!! Are the floor cuboards common? i never heard of that

  • Can you point me to the playlist about staying in Japan and fitting in (Like not upsetting people)

  • @HanonVoice

  • wow, i knew apartments in japan are small, but i think my room is bigger than your living room and kitchen combined. how big is this apartment in square meters?

  • i love your house man

  • what part of Japan are you in?

  • @MizzBrightsyde He lives in Nagoya, I reckon.

  • I love the food storage a.k.a "The ninja door".

  • I've been watching your latest renting in Japan video where you said rent could be a 1.000$ up to a couple of thousands if its in the city ... so you were talking about that kind of size? Or smaller? (Didn't find the kitchen too small )

  • So, laundry/bathroom on left, toilet on right,? thought thats where the steps for upstairs is.

  • Oh wow, I thought those floor storage compartments were only used in war times and in movies as an emergency stash. I never thought they were real. (I'm in my own little bubble and I don't want to leave ;-} )

How is the sleeping in a futon? I can imagine it's cold and hard.

  • @blackhat2005 its actually soft n fluffy.... ow the blankets are fluffy too !!! it might differ ...

  • Show us where you grow the weed.

  • Nice place you guys have! Definitely roomier than some of the other Japanese apartments I've seen.

  • Wow! You must live out in the sticks in Japan. Look at all the space outside.

  • @freedomfriestastebad Only if you have a flight ticket

  • uuh screw it i'm moving to japan!!

    Whos with me? xD

  • @CenturysSamurai I'm with ya =) ... oh wait... you were joking... :( LOL

  • @CrowSenjiDSMK I don't know... was I? =P

  • @CenturysSamurai haha If I had tons of money I would move.

  • how many sqft is that place

  • Where's the TV?

  • Hello!

I think you have heard this allot but can you tell me what are the chances for a young guy like me that haves 20 years old and healthy to get a job on Japan its one of my dreams! Thank you for the videos ^ ^,

  • i love your videos. i love the honesty you bring to them, i feel like all my questions have been answered in just a few weeks.

  • @freedomfriestastebad

    No!

    joke of coarse you can!

  • haha.

i think the deffinition of "country" breaks once the place is populated enough as to warrent appartments ?

  • nice apartment!

  • dude how much would a place like that cost me in that i wish to buy it and trick it out

  • wtf the fridge is to small :O

  • is it true that militant gangs of Korean hobos run in packs and rule the night over there?

  • What is it like for the AC or the heater during those really hot and really cold days?? I heard that it's kind of a problem, but what's your experience with it?

  • What happens if you spill water on the floor over the sub-floor food storage trap door? Or have to mop the floor? What keeps it from leaking down through?

  • I love the storage place in the kitchen floor! By the way, do you have a video about their futons or bedding?

  • Epic house! :D

  • Im not lying, space will not be an issue for me if I could have an apartment with that cleanliness and view outside.

  • is Living in japan expensive and are their alot of english speaking people

  • when i go to college i would love to have a dorm room like that

  • thats a nice size apartment for japan ive seen smaller

  • why you have to take out your shoes

  • Man my apartment is soo fricken huge in comparison. If I ever move that would be a real adjustment! Of course it would be totally worth it.

  • i've always wondered how a typical county home in japan looks like.. thanks for the video

  • japan is awesome i wish i would be there fyi japanese channel you rock!!!!!!!!

  • is the bathroom a separate room from the toilet room? and if so is that typical in japan?

  • where do you put your clothes? any wardrobe?

  • I was about to ask you where the fridge was, but i played it back and saw it(i'm used to seeing big american/western ones) so kudos for me not asking a dumb question:) Also that floor "fridge" was really cool.

  • Lol by Western standards that Kitchen is very clean.

  • Interesting, but kinda depressing! :/

  • damn! ninja refrigerator!

  • Japanese ingenuity never ceases to amaze me, especially as the country is a) largely mountains, and b) could fit comfortably inside Montana.

  • Your neck is very long, is that a problem in Japan?

  • @noobrider100

    yes.

But it means I can eat leaves from tall trees..

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom awesome!!!

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom HAHAHAHAHA that was a BRILLIANT reply! feeding him his own shit.

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom best creative comment ever

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom epic answer!

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom Bwahaha :)

Thanks for the laugh, good joke :)

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom haha Thank you. It's moments like that one that make me love this channel :) (more than I already do because of your videos)

  • @noobrider100 lol, your an ass, lmao >o<

  • @Stepisin It was done in good taste! lol I love this guys vids.

  • @noobrider100 ...?...WYF?

  • Is that... a mini-fridge in the floor?? O.o Ook... Seems the Japanese are getting REALLY desperate nowadays because of size concerns.

Is there even a bathroom in the apartment? What do you do when nature calls?

  • @whoo689 Oh, whoops! Guess I was a little absent-minded or distracted during the early part of the video when you showed the bathroom.

  • @whoo689 he showed the bathroom in the beginning of the video..

  • your videos have made me want to move to japan..any videos with dojos? i study aikido, i am a 2nd kyu looking for dojo videos..mainly aikidoka

  • @617edmonddantes

See the martial arts play list.

Also a video on the "how to" play list that might be relevant...

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom haha these houses in japan are about as cramped as the ISS.

  • So then they usually sit on the floor to watch the tv??

  • Very lovely apartment! It would be nice to live there. :)

  • That storage space under the kitchen is awesome. Why didn't someone think to use that? What do you need pantries for? You gots floor! It actually did kind of look like a freezer so when you sort of hinted that it wasn't I was surprised.

  • woah that's very smart to keep the food below the floor

  • Comment removed

  • That is a great apartment, much better than mine

  • Really big house I say..LOVE IT!!!

  • Wow cool! The toilet is damn big but the kitchen and room is small... And cool refrigerator!

  • floor fridge.... BRILLIANT

  • You should do one about earthquakes! I've learned that there are abou 120 earthquakes per year in Japan. I'd love to go to Japan but earthquakes are pretty scarry...

  • Can you please entail for us ALLLL the monthly expenses incurred in living in Japan, please?

You assume we've seen everything in video.

    I have not.

  • So small, but then again, you only need what you use, in that sence I say GO Japanese!!!, my house is a townhouse, 3 bedrooms 2 1/2 baths, basement (unfinished, when done it will be another bedroom and another bath added), but do I need it, no...I think you guys are lucky with that style of living

  • OMG!!! I love the extra storage built into the floor! How cool!

  • I love your videos! Thanks for sharing!

  • where is it common in finding apartments like the one you have and for rent how much would the price vary from ?

  • Interesting. In Japan, less is more and more is less.

  • Your apartment = epic!

  • great vid! absolutely love japanese culture ;)

  • Very nice place you got

  • Nice a little small but nice!

  • I want that apartment!!! Nice video!!!

  • Hey, can i ask you how much does it costs for renting a Apartment like yours in Japan and how much would that costs in Tokyo?

  • @xfeng607

    Info on the website forum.

  • @xfeng607 i think it will be 900 or lower cus my uncal haves a ap in japan cus he go there like ever month

  • Awesome video, really nice place you have :).

1 question, do most Japanese people have slippers on all the time when inside a house?

I broke my arm once (and have a scar) because of slippers and hate to wear them because of it. Would I be expected to wear them if I entered a house for example?

    Thanks :)

  • @Yoshoku

    yes

  • even if you dont know well your still living in japan?? thats very cool!!

  • Hey, would you please tell me wherer is the apt, like which city, how about the location. I am wondering the rental, because I want to live in Japan for few month :) thank you~!~!~

  • @muyy1

Unlikely that they would rent you an apartment like this for just a few months.

Try the website forum under "accommodation".

  • thank you so much Ive always wanted to see videos on you tube that showed many parts of japan well! im subscribing! xD hope your uploading more videos... and do you know Japanese? cause if you do i wanna know how you learned like did you just have classes or did you learn some other way....i guess haha

  • @TohruNoOnigiri

    Thank you, more videos coming!

    I don't know Japanese yet.. I am just a beginner :-)

  • @TohruNoOnigiri

I haven't learned Japanese yet, because you cannot learn the japanese language without knowing the alpahbet. I would reccommend you to start of with Hiragana. There are four alphabetic languages in Japan; Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji and Romaji (roman letters).

I have so many people telling to start of with Hiragana. :-) And I feel that I understand the structure of the Japanese language a little bit more. ;-)

  • Man, the floor storage thing was awesome

  • If you don't mind me asking... and if it has already been asked, I apologize... How much do you pay a month for a place like this?

Is it really difficult to get cable and internet hooked up? Your information would be most greatly appreciated! Arigato gozai mas!

  • About $1,000 a month

    Internet was easy.

  • What!?! Seriously!?!? Here I have heard that living out there is ridiculous exspensive!?!? I guess if you live closer to tokyo it costs more...? Thank you soo much for sharing this info with me!

That is a really nice place you got for that much! I can't wait to move out to japan! Keep up the good work!

  • Yeah, I live in the countryside a long way from Tokyo.

  • Away from all the craziness of the city huh? Ha ha! Did you choose to live out that far? Or is that where your job put you?

  • I am self employed.. so I chose this place because it is real Japan and not super cosmopolitan city.

  • So you went to japan on a cultural visa, to learn martial arts... but now your self employed??? How does that work? What kinda work are you doing? Again, if you don't mind me asking this stuff, and if somebody else already asked... sorry for asking again! Appreciate the answers!

  • Hmmmmmmmmm

I really don't want to be a "talking about me" vlogger...

Too many of them on Youtube already :-)

    The topic is Japan :-)

But I do get asked a lot... so I will think about making a video about my story ... and what to include....

  • I know... I don't want to get too personal! I was just wondering. If you don't mind sharing, that would be awesome! If you do, that is cool too. I know all the videos are about japan. I really appreciate them! Have definetly informed me alot of what to expect when I move there!

Just trying to get info, on how people moved over to japan, how they are succeeding, and surviving over there? Will help me out alot! For when I move! Thanks again! =)

  • Thanks, friend.

    I appreciate your support!

Maybe check out the website forum.. lots of people tell their Japan stories on there!

  • I have gone on the forum. All I hear about is teaching jobs. That is why, when I hear somebody else mention another type job, I get curious? I know there has to be other jobs for us americans besides teaching? Probally one of the easier ones, but there has to be other ways to work over there? I wish I had a BA in teaching, but I don't. That is why I ask. Thankyou for taking the time to write back, and put up these awesome videos! You don't realize how much they help! Thanks!

  • You don't need a BA in teaching, just a BA in anything.. to get a visa to teach.

The reason you hear about teaching so much is it is hard to get a job doing something else unless you have a specialty.

If you have questions that arent answered already on the forum, maybe ask them and get some opinions.

    Thanks again, for your support!

  • Thanks for your responses! =0 They are very helpfull! I have knowledge and specialties in other fields I'll ask around and see if they'll be able to work for me over there? Thanks again! Look forward to future videos!

  • I know it's been a while since you posted this video, but I just rewatched it and wondered, if you could maybe do a short little video on beds in japan?

You know: I've never seen a "futon" up close and would really like to know, how it is built!

Do you sleep well on one? Is it rather hard or does it feel soft? Do you roll it up every morning? And where and how would you store it during the day? What about sheets and linnen - what is most common in that departement in Japan?

    Thanks!

  • I think you would be dissapointed!

It is not real interesting.. but I will put it on my list!

  • Thanks for answering!

Of course, I can't be the judge of that, as I don't know anything about the subject, but I'm still curious. Maybe you could just post a short answer for me?

Is it like a matress and kind of stiff? Or softer, more like a thick sleepingbag, that you can roll up? Can you feel the difference of lying on the floor as opposed to on a slatted frame? Do kids have their own smaller futons? Where are they put during the day and what do people put in its place?

    Thanks a bunch!

  • I meant I will put it on my list of videos to make!

I think it will be easier to make a video and show you :-)

  • Perfect! Maybe, one day you'll reach that point in your list - I assume it's already a long one! - I'll be looking forward to it! ^_^ Thanks!

  • Thanks for showing us your Place, Wish I could send you a bottle of Sake....thanks...if invited to somebody`s home is good to bring a little something too right??..

  • Thanks!

    Yes, it is!

  • Really cute place!!!! I`ll put my Zen furniture and my plasma TV,,,

  • Cool the storage place for food.. I`ll store all my goodies there ....Your appartement is nice minimalistic...Thanks for inviting us to your place....Arigato...

  • so is that kitcen floor thing just room temperature?

  • You remind me of Jimmy Stewart.

  • I love your place, btw

  • If only Americans were forced to be as efficient. Thanks for the tour of your apartment :)

  • Great dude!

    Stay there :-D

  • Thats so cool, i love your home!

Its just the perfect size for one person, and it looks like it's set up pretty good considering the smaller space available.

The fridge in the floor is somthing i have never seen before, quite amazing if you ask me :)

  • Oh wow, that fridge/storage door on the floor.. I've never even thought about that.

  • Quite a decent view from the window, and the apartment not crowded in from the front and back.

A good choice under the circumstances.

  • That looks like a nice place.

I just need a room with a small kitchen and a shower. I wonder how much that would cost.

  • how much is that apartment in american dollars

  • $180 a week

  • that's cheap...

  • what!!@! thats dirt cheap

  • Whoa the door looks really REALLY small, the appartment itself wasnt too smal imo, and i love the floor

  • Small but nice. For me, I don't need much. No kids, so I'd feel right at home there.

  • Nice one. My apartment in Chiba was older and smaller. The walls and floors were paper thin. You could hear and be heard. How are the walls?

  • Pretty good.. just hear the odd footstep!

  • thanks for sharing this :)

  • for me it looks nice and coasy - anyway if you are working you are not at home for too long, so u need only the place to sleep, make some food, get a shower ;) pretty much the thing as i was living - 2 rooms per 2 flors + bathroom

  • Yeah, I love it!

Smallest place I have lived ever.. but I don't want to move!

  • The floor storage is so cool! What a handy use of space

  • I have heard a lot of good things about Japanese recycling, how they recycle pretty much all rubbish. Is that true, and how do they cope with it if there is so little space?

  • Ok, just spotted the 'garbage' video...nvm :P

  • ROFL, food under your feet is weird

  • nice house!..well...at least u have an apartment bigger than my living place already ^.^ please keep posting 5/5

    (from Hong Kong)

  • i actually live in an apartment, in the bay area [ california ], and i can tell you in terms of space there is a VAST difference. like, right now its just me and my mother, but we both have separate rooms, same size, i can fit my tv, futon/couch, PC desk & chair in here...and still have a bit of floor space!

plus theres a hallway and the toilet is together in the bathroom with the bathtub. the bathroom is the smallest room.

  • yep!

The whole apartment would fit in one room of my house in my old country...

  • pretty cool space saving techniques, though. ive never seen anything like the trap door/food compartment before. xD

  • If I would describe my home It would be a copy&paste lol, every part except for the country and place

  • That storage thing on the floor was a great idea! Amazing apartment and video, keep it up :]

  • Thanks friend!

    More coming!

  • I wouldn't mind living there =P

  • no there is a tv its on in the living room to the top left with the phone or fax on it am i right

  • hey man, first of all:

    1) isn't the cooker a little to close to the wall ? Doesn't it burn the it? (the wall)

    2) nice place :) and yeah, no TV ?

    3) also you kept saying "we" i've been watching your videos only for a couple of weeks so...what did i miss
