The government have done their level best, egged on by the rather ignorant public opinion, that *everybody* on IB is scrounging and therefore is able to work; The concept of "illness" has been virtually wiped off the map. There are many, many people on IB who have chronic, long term illnesses (they are not all disabled, believe it or not) and employers will not employ these people. The government want rid of them for electoral purposes. Would you employ someone who had a history of illness?
The Employer would also be concerned about the insurance cost of employing someone with an illness incase they get taken to court / sued for an incident / accident brought on by the symptons of a persons disability who is forced into work & is not ready or be taken to a tribunal for not employing someone with a disabilty in cases of prejudice, stigma & equal oppertunities
It would be nice to think that ESA is about helping people but it's about reducing the incapacity benefit bill.
Also: people who can work in the voluntary sector will be deemed suitable for ordinary "work" and lose their disability living allowance entitlement. These changes are about targeting the sick and vulnerable in society to appease certain sections of society.
they said on the news on 29th october 2008 that incapacity was costing britain(BRITIAN)£800,00,00 but ive found a news broadcast from reporting scotland that says in noveber 2007 in scotland(SCOTLAND) that incapacity was costing scotland £800,000,000...so whats the deal..watch you tube clip="bbc reporting scotland 6pm november 6th 2007"
