I feel the same way. Forced chatter feels like a waste when you could be having a real discussion about something you think or feel is important, but hanging around people you like can be fun on it's own. Depends on the situation and mood of the day.
I wouldn't even bother labeling it dude, people always get pressure from all these places to define themselves in ways that match some expectation people already have. Screw that. Just do your thing and find people that it resonates with.
Labels can stick weather true or false based on first impressions and shit. I find myself introverted, but personality tests give me 50%extravert:50%introvert. I don't need other people or need to be alone, but i prefer to be alone. you COULD be an extracerted ambivert - not like being alone but not really care. I try to be introverted - can we push our personality in a direction we want? Definitely interesting you got to the point i heard the word recently from rockingmrE.
For me it was a new word too, I think the word ambivert refers to ambiguity / in between intro/extravert.
I think it may be possible to be ambivert leaning more to extravert, or to be ambivert leaning more to introvert. In my case, I recognize myself more in the latter one.
On an internal level I don't find extrovert verses introvert a wallflower as opposed to a lampshade wearer kind of thing. Extroverts get a charge or energy while dealing with others, introverts are drained by prolonged people contact.
I enjoy being with others, but know myself well enough to not form any opinions about what went on till I've had time alone.
Being an introvert, as you said satisfied with your self, you don't need social gatherings to be happy. However I can get the idea of Ambivert. You see, many of us who need intellectual stimulation aren't satisfied with stupidity. So it isnt that we are shy. I am sure if many of us deemed as "introverts" were in a room together we would have a blast, which is why I dont think (well I will speak for myself) which is why I dont think I would consider myself an introvert.

I guess I'm an ambivert as well. I can have just as much fun alone as I can with other people.
