  • truth commercials are so annoying and i dont even smoke

  • My grandfather's been smoking since he was 13. He has every lung problem on Earth and is on oxygen. He had a heart attack three years ago. Everyone hates him.

He's still alive. Sometimes life isn't fair.

  • i absolutely love the campaign.its true!! people are dying everyday due to smoking cigarettes that have all the additives.electronic cigarettes are the future.the future is now!!!if we can campaign for saving the ta-ta's then we need to campaign for saving lives!!!!!!!

  • ciggerettes are not an indulgence, there an addiction. people rarly enjoy there first ciggerett and only feel bettter after smoking because it relieves the effects of withdrawal . peopl WANT cake, beer, and marijuana. regardless of if you want to smoke or not, once your hooked, you HAVE to smoke.

  • @swissyode

Then how do you explain the small minority of people who manage to quit smoking permenantly?

  • @fireicr: But really I doubt there's much danger of that. I know smokers & I know cyclists. Those 2 sub groups of my friends have zero overlap. Personally I don't give a shit if you or anyone else smokes. Slow suicide is a personal choice & don't believe anyone has the right to deny a person that.

I just don't want the stupid fuckers doing it where I have to smell the shit & I don't want my tax dollars paying to cure a self inflicted disease.

  • I love the way they make commercials. It really makes you think.

  • My response to the girl at 0:50, tell your mom to lose 20 pounds, lose the bob haircut, and put on some fucking make up, and maybe she will bring home his replacement.

These commercials are such a fucking farce.

  • is it true that tobacco companies make these ads?

  • @yeahbuddy93 no, but they have to pay for them

  • RoboticsNShenanigans: How stupid can you be??? THEY EVEN TELL YOU ON THE FUCKING PACKAGE!

These are the four surgeon General's Warnings that cigarette makers must rotate through on their packs.

Smoking Causes Lung Cancer, Heart Disease, Emphysema, And May Complicate Pregnancy.

Smoking By Pregnant Women May Result in Fetal Injury, Premature Birth, And Low Birth Weight.

    Cigarette Smoke Contains Carbon Monoxide.

Quitting Smoking Now Greatly Reduces Serious Risks to Your Health.

  • @SpecialEdward121 I smoke Marlboro, you smoke cock. Thanks for playing, the lovely lady to your right has a nice parting gift for you.

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans: Sorry I can't come out to play right now, Halo Reach dropped this week & my kid & I are busy having a blast with it but I DO promise to get back with you sometime early next week.

Smoke one for each of us buddy!

  • @RoboticsNShitForBrains: "smoke cock",,, stayed up all night working on that one did you?

I continue to be amazed & now amused at morons like you who actually defend the corporate entities you're paying to kill you.

Oh! The Darwin Awards Committee called looking for you. The said since it's your 10th year in a row to win you get to pick the color of the plaque.

  • RoboticsNShenanigans: You’re the kind of numb nutted individual who when diagnosed with some tobacco related disease will still blame it on one of the many corporate entities you’ve been waving around this discussion. ANYTHING but all the smokes you’ve been sucking down all those years.

Go ahead & spend the rest of your life in denial.

In the immortal words of Thugnificent: “Go eat a bag’o baby dicks!” loser!

  • @SpecialEdward121 As I said before, If I get lung cancer it's my fault. (period) I'm just trying to get you to understand that maybe tobacco isn't to blame for everything like you keep trying to do.

Also...lolumadbro? I don't think I've ever seen anyone on youtube this worked up, I think you lost the 'debate'

  • Comment removed

  • @SpecialEdward121 Also, I smoke Marlboro.......you smoke cock. That sums this whole discussion up.

  • ..."pollen"??? Holy shit you really are a fucktard! Hey everybody! Look out! Don't worry about those little cigarettes! Hell we got a WHOLE FIELD of flowers out here POLLENATING all over us!!!

"asbestos"??? Uh yeah Einstein. That's why we don't use it for drop tile ceiling in schools or businesses anymore. That's why people get paid big bucks to remove the shit safely.

... now if only we could pay someone to remove YOU safely... Oh wait, no one will touch that shitty job!

  • Smoking harms the smoker & those around them.

    NOT smoking harms no one.

RoboticsNShenanigans: There was never any debate to win. You were dead in the water before your even typed your first response.

I sincerely hope you enjoy your tobacco for the rest of your life.

  • Now that I know what really pisses smokers off I’m going to raise hell! Next time I’m out & see some guy smoking, you know what I’m going to do? I’m going to stand right next to them, not even twelve inches away and NOT smoke! HA! That’ll show ‘em!

  • @SpecialEdward121 I'm sure that's really going to get to someone >.> Like I said, just ask nicely, I'm sure people in your area aren't as much of dicks as you. Unless you live up north, of course.

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans: Did any of your mother's other abortions survive or are you an only child?

Again, if you want to smoke go right ahead. That's just natural selection at work. Just have the decency to keep the damage to yourself egotard.

  • @SpecialEdward121 You're right, this is natural selection. I guess since I'm from a family of smokers with no family history of cancer that means I win at natural selection.

Why does everything have to be a debate on youtube? You know there is a difference between a discussion and a debate, right?

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans: ... and since you clearly have no concept of what "natural selection" means I'll put it in terms even a short bus passenger like yourself can understand.

The stupid ones continue to do things that shorten their life decreasing the amount of time you're able to pollute our gene pool.

    Again, you lose.

Hell my kid was smarter than you before he even entered grade school!

  • @SpecialEdward121 I'm still waiting on some sort of proof that 'carcinogens' from tobacco smoke are really more to blame than auto pollution, fiberglass insulation, asbestos, lead paint, ozone, pollen, or all the hot air all you guys spew about how terrible smoking is, I think THAT is giving me cancer.

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans: ...and here we have one of the inconsiderate asshole smoker's more common defenses: "Hey! The shit I'm doing to you probably isn't as bad as the other shit that's being done to you so it's ok right?" WOW! Nice job at dodging the "responsibility bullet".

What amazes me about you the most is your complete lack of understanding that YOU are the offending party here, not non smokers.

I'm SO SORRY! Does my NOT SMOKING bother you?

  • @SpecialEdward121 Good job insulting my mother? I guess we see who is dead in the water now. Way to go, kid.

"Pollen" just making sure you are paying attention. Also, do you cry to auto companies about their emissions, or Owens-Corning about their fiberglass insulation?

Seems to me that you just cry about smokers, probably because you had a family member who died of lung cancer, and that is somehow everyone else's fault.

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans: So I guess that response means you have no siblings? She probably died of shock when the doctor informed her that she'd just given birth to a fully developed EGOTARD.

Smokers infringe on others rights to clean air. What do non smokers do you you? Force you to breath untainted air in a restaurant?

You're wrong, you lose & can't seem to handle it. Just bend over & take it like a big boy already.

  • @SpecialEdward121 And you say I've lost the debate? Lol, you're the one insulting my family, for whatever reason. So, who is floundering now?

We have no right to clean air...how many times do people have to tell you that? No where in the constitution or bill of rights does it say anything about clean air.

Can't lose a discussion, shows a lot about your character, or lack there of, that you keep trying to make this a debate.

  • @RoboticsNShitForBrains: D'ja miss me?

"Insulting your family"... The only thing insulting your family is your continued waste of oxygen on a brain that was clearly deprived of it during birth. But hey? Since you brought it up why the hell not.

Since you so clearly don't give a shit about inflicting your sidestream cancer on whoever's unlucky enough to be within 10 feet whenever your worthless ass lights up WHY the hell should I give a flying fuck about your dead mom?

  • This is like maniquen porn

  • eww... naked mannequins

  • If some guy boofs another dude in the butt I don't get shit on my dick. If some alcoholic drinks a bottle of whisky I don't have to taste it, my liver doesn't get damaged. But when a guy within 10 feet of me & my kid lights up a smoke... he's just sharing the Cancer.

  • @SpecialEdward121 Then don't be around the smoker with your kid...you see someone light up in a public area and you don't want to be around it, move. By not moving, you are endangering yourself, and your child...YOU are, not the smoker.

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans: So by your logic let’s say I have an addiction to guns, (fault of the ATF), certainly not MINE just because I bought a gun once. Also because they make me feel secure I continue to stock firearms in spite of the fact that I have no real need for any them and out of nowhere one of my stray bullets nails your kid in the temple.

So now it's YOUR fault your kid is dead because they allow guns public.

You're a fucktard to the Nth.

  • @SpecialEdward121 If I knew you were doing something dangerous and I didn't remove my child from the 'area of danger' then yes, it would be my fault.

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans: So could you please explain to all of us exactly why you should be allowed to do something in public that is hazardous to other's health?

  • @SpecialEdward121 I think I already did.

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans: Think again.

  • @SpecialEdward121 Also, not everything is black and white, quit trying to treat them like they are.

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans: So I guess it's ok with you if I hop in the public pool with you & piss on your kid's leg then?

Yours is literally the weakest, most half baked rationalization for, (of all things), posing a hazard to other people's health I think I've ever heard outside of a Jr High school debate team.

Smoke if you want to, that's none of my business as long as it doesn't affect others in public.

  • @SpecialEdward121 You seemed to be looking right past the part where I said if you are endangering my child and I know you are and don't do anything to stop it then it is my fault. Everything you have spouted off since has been just silliness, grasping for something because you have nothing. What is pissing on my kids leg going to hurt? I'm sure he's pissed on his own leg plenty, keep grasping you may find something eventually.

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans: You seem to be looking right past the part where you have no right to pose a health threat to others in a public place you narcisistic egotard. That's all it's really about.

You ignore blatant logic even when it's spoon fed to you. Any attempt to rationalize with you via analogy is only taken as an opportunity to warp it to support your version of reality.

Your inability to register the actual point is more disturbing than your ass backward opinion.

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans: You're like a drunk driver who blames the kid he ran over for his own injuries because he didn't run fast enough to get out of the way.

  • @SpecialEdward121 Yet again, you're looking at things as black and white. My opinion is just that, mine. Much as your opinion is ass backwards to me, mostly because of the whole black and white thing. You're analogies are terrible btw, looks like a kid came up with them "so if i'm crazy and shoot your kid it's your fault derp"

  • @SpecialEdward121 I'm narcissistic? (yeah that's how its spelled) Because thinking you are so special you can dictate to people what, where, and when they can do things isn't narcissistic at all am I right?

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans: You've got to be the densest individual I've encountered in months. You are literally incapable of understanding that doing something in a public place that endangers the health of others is wrong. You're so obsessed with BEING right you're unable to even consider WHAT is right.

"Black & white"? Please DO show us all the gray area.

Wow! You busted me on a spelling error & critiqued my analogies... nice work big guy!

  • @SpecialEdward121 Here's your gray area, you don't have to stand next to someone in public who is smoking. No one is forcing you to go to a bar or restaurant where smoking is allowed. Prove to me (if you can) that secondhand smoke is more of a killer than fiberglass insulation, molds, or auto/industrial pollutions.

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans: I think I understand now. Since there are plenty of other things out there to kill me, (let's face it, one of them is bound to do me in sooner or later), I really shouldn't worry too much about the second hand cancer some inconsiderate ass is blowing around.

    Yeah, makes perfect sense!

  • @SpecialEdward121 Gray area in analogies: I'll start with the first one. If I know you are a crazy, gun-wielding maniac (it's redundant for a reason). And I don't do anything to stop you and my kid gets hurt; my fault. If I don't know, and you shoot my kid while on a spree; your fault. If I'm driving down the road and a kid darts out in front of me without looking, and I hit him; kid's fault. If I'm barreling down the road not paying any attention and run off the road and kill a kid; my fault.

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans: Your "gray area" is crap. Drunk plows down a kid, not really gray is it, pretty black. Kid runs out in front of a car that has no way of stopping in time, can't really blame the driver, both pretty black or white.

  • @SpecialEdward121 Bottom line, quit whining. If you're in public and someone lights up next to you and your kid (and this will work most times) politely ask "excuse me could you please not smoke next to me and my child?" Or get your kid away from the nasty, evil smoker, and don't be a dick. I've found being polite when someone does something I don't like works much better than demonizing them.

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans: Oh you POOR persecuted smoker! How could the world be so brutal as to expect you to keep your carcinogens to yourself.

Why should I have to move because some jackass decides to start sharing the cancer IN A PLACE THEY SHOULDN'T?

Yeah I’ll be sure to ask all the smokers in my state to just be cool & not smoke whenever they notice me around. I know they’ll ALL be cool with it ‘cause my good buddy RoboticsNShenanigans on YouTube said so!

  • @SpecialEdward121 You are a pussy, and you are raising your kid to be as well. Want some cheese with your whine?

  • @LarsIsAKidToucher: Sorry, still swamped with work but I'll be back when I catch a break to bust your chops as well.

Meanwhile ask yourself this: How is not wanting cancer being a pussy?

  • @SpecialEdward121 Evidently it took you about a month to come up with your last witty retort...which was EXACTLY like all the others...though I can't find it here...it was in my inbox...odd. I continue to be amazed, and now amused at how morons like you believe anything you read or see on the internet/tv. As I said a few comments back, you can not prove that tobacco smoke is the sole cause of people getting cancer. So quit trying, you're making yourself look bad.

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans: Awww what'sa matter? Feeling a little neglected because I didn't get right back to trying to teach a dumb fuck like you something useful?

Unlike a YouTube troll like yourself I have a kid, a house & a job to take care of, you know WORK, something I earn money doing so you're just going to have to deal with the fact that trying to educate a walking mental block like yourself isn't exactly at the top of my list.

  • @SpecialEdward121 And I believe I also stated that cancer is genetic. That is a pretty well known fact in the medical world. Not to say that someone without a family history is immune to it, but with a family history you have a higher chance of contracting it. You sir (and anyone who would support any law against smoking, or anything else that doesn't directly affect you or your freedoms) are a fascist. Also, ROFL @ you acting like tobacco is the only thing that causes cancer.

  • 1. No one said Tobacco was the SOLE cause of cancer, it’s just one of many. I have no idea what hole you pulled that one out of but I suggest you ease up on the meth when you’re posting. Try reviewing the facts instead of making assumptions.

    2. Cancer is genetic? Not exactly true. Yes, some cancers are genetic, while many others are caused by outside influences, radiation, chemicals & oh yeah my old fave TOBACCO.

  • 3. “Support any law against smoking”, ok now that’s just a retarded stretch. That makes about as much sense as trying to completely outlaw shitting. Still it doesn’t mean I want you legally doing it in a restaurant 3 feet away from where I’m dining.

  • @SpecialEdward121 I was beginning to think someone smoked a cigarette next to you and you keeled over.

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans: No. I always wear my Michael Jackson commemorative smog mask, (Japanese release complete with anatomically correct fake nose), when I dare venture out in public. Whoops! Time for my anxiety medication! Gotta go to Braums for milk, yeah better be safe & dope up on mood stompers! Better strap on another adult diaper too... just in case.

  • @SpecialEdward121 And that, my friends, is why America is the most conceited nation on Earth.

  • @TeqnoShaft: I think maybe you've mistaken pride for conceit. It's ok... really, that shit happens all the time.

  • @SpecialEdward121 Perhaps they both play fair ingredients. I have no idea how many times I have heard about people whining about THEIR lungs, THEIR health, etc. However, I will admit that pride plays a fair role. Conceit is more on the value of your self belief (example/ "I got a University education, therefore I think I'm smart, intelligent...) while pride is approval based (example/ "I got a University education, so everyone must think I'm a genius...).

  • @TeqnoShaft: I have no University education. I guess I'm lucky it's not a prerequisite for running my mouth in a Youtube forum or else I'd be feeling pretty underdressed right about now.

    Tobacco causes cancer.

    Cancer causes death.

I've seen enough of it in my family, friends families, friends I grew up with... the list goes on. This doesn't make me conceited. It makes me experienced in watching people I care about die from tobacco use.

  • @SpecialEdward121 Slow down. No one actually said they had a University education anywhere. It was merely an example of distinguishing pride and conceit.

I was just intrigued that tobacco use only affects you when it is either you or your family/friends being affected. Like you said: "If some guy boofs another dude in the butt I don't get shit on my dick. If some alcoholic drinks a bottle of whisky I don't have to taste it, my liver doesn't get damaged."

Ah shit, I'm a troll! Fuck!

  • @TeqnoShaft: If you're a troll I have to say you're the most distinguished & polite one I've ever run into.

OK, so help me out here since I must've just stepped off the short bus but I've committed both my brain cells to understanding this statement & it's just not working out. "tobacco use only affects you when it is either you or your family/friends being affected." I would have to say that statement is true.

What am I missing here? The sarcasm? Subtlety? Both?

  • @SpecialEdward121 If no one in your family/friend circle, let's say only complete strangers that you do not even know or acknowledge, were to get cancer or diseases from cigarettes, would you be as concerned? Take into consideration the spate load of wars, disease and whatnot around the globe in answering this question.

  • @TeqnoShaft: If the point is that I'm biased... well sure, that makes perfect sense. But the fact is that I literally don't know anyone at all who's family hasn't been affected by it. I'm looking around for this hypothetical citizen in my county who has had absolutely no exposure to a friend or family member dying as a result of tobacco & not finding him.

    (cont.)

  • @SpecialEdward121 Amidst it all, I have to admit we had a fair debate. I enjoy the Devil's advocate stance, but it grows weary after awhile. I will stand down and admit you've won. Thanks for your time! :)

  • @TeqnoShaft: My hat is off to you. Devil’s advocate… a necessary evil & a thankless job that keeps the good guys on their toes. You provide an honorable service sir & have my sincere respect!

If you do by chance get into a scrum on YouTube with a real asshole it would be my pleasure to go to bat for you & be the bad cop! Really, if you get into it with some divine jackass please DO drop me a line via YouTube!

From across the pond in the colonies, Cheers!

  • @TeqnoShaft ... On : wars, disease, etc. No one's been putting addictive ingredients in disease or war that I'm aware of. Sure there's controlled substance abuse in some wars, African kids on speed, meth going back for decades in Asia but no one's running commercials with cowboys on horses killing people to sell cartons of war or bottles of polio down at my local mini mart.

  • @TeqnoShaft: All said, no disrespect intended towards you man. I can't help but see that the tobacco industry is nasty & kills people.

I'm 46 & I remember candy cigarettes when I was a kid, they were just sugar sticks.

  • @SpecialEdward121 100+ Nuclear reactors that constantly leak across the USA, huge V8 engined cars is the norm in your country bellowing out more carcinogens than all smokers put together and your arguing about cigarette smoke at 10 feet. Ban cigarettes then ban cars, Nuclear power stations, coal power stations, gas and oil burners everything that burns. Why pick the least most polluting item on the planet and blame cancer on it seriously lol

  • @fireicer:

    1. Our society depends on that transportation.

    2. Our society depends on the energy produced by those industries.

    3. Tobacco offers NO benefit to society other than shortening the life span of evolutionary throwbacks dumb enough to use tobacco.

The pathetic "ban cars" & "ban industry" ruse has been put forth and refuted many times.

The most hazardous pollution going on is your half baked pack of skewed information..

  • @SpecialEdward121 yea yea yea well Germany proved they can do it without the use of nuclear power and there a bigger country than the UK so those industries you mention are not something to depend on. We dont need 4x4's, Subaru raced up cars, supercars and so on so only a small percentage can be said to depend on, as you put it. Cyclist are forced aggressively off the road by stupid oversized cars and stupid murderous drivers. 4x4's and supercars offers no benefit to society at all in that case.

  • @SpecialEdward121 Tobacco offers the same benefit to society as beer, spirits, wine, sweets and chocolate it is a Sin how ever you look at it. The benefits are clearly an indulging pleasure, all these cause health problems one way or another hence they have a sin tax placed on them. the notion you will risk your own health from a cigarette due to Other pollutions mentioned in my last comment is not even comparable its so minute. Simply you are to die from other sources other than cigarettes

  • @SpecialEdward121 It has to be said though that smoking in confined areas such as badly ventilated pubs especially clubs as there ventilation is beyond a joke on co2 levels from breath is deadly. The risk of health effects from cigarette smoke in the open air is non existent and any that can be is minuscule compared to other pollution so i stand by the current ban. If an establishment installed a powerful filtering system then i cant see any reason not to allow it back indoors.

  • @fireicr: Wow. Did I hit a nerve or something?

If a pack of assholes want to drive their buttfucking 4X4 Hillbillymobiles there's not much I can do about that. And I shit you not I live in Garland, TX, (a city adjacent to Dallas, TX), yes there are millions of numb nuts drivers who think they need a dual axle vehicle to pick up 2 bags of groceries. If some putz cowboy runs you & your Schwinn off the road carry a fucking hand gun. I'm pretty sure a pickup truck can't outrun a bullet.

  • @SpecialEdward121 well sort of hit a nerve lol. In the UK there thinking of also banning smoking outside, generally the newly formed smoking garden lol, I find this ridiculous. As i said smoke inside confined spaces in the past has been hard to breath even for me as a smoker due to very poor ventilation. Outside in a beer garden where the impact of cigarette smoke is less harmful than the exhaust fumes we have to put up with every day. Thats my point about exhaust fumes, 4x4 hillbillymobiles lol

  • Ban tobacco, legalize marijuana!

  • its your choice to smoke right?yeah that's true. Not like second hand smoking exists or anything....

  • @berryford As with my comment to special ed...if you don't want to be around it then remove yourself from it, don't expect everyone to cater to you.

  • if i see the video of the ceo saying tht then i will believe this commercial

  • @RadicalJudgments I wouldn't doubt that it was said, but it's along the same lines of any company trying to 'recruit' new customers when their present population dwindles.

  • Holy smokes people, calm down. Smoking is a personal choice, which means it's none of YOUR business. You lobby for all potentially harmful activities to be made illegal, but anal sex is quite dangerous as well (seriously, research how harmful it can be) are you also going to make being gay illegal to protect people from that "dangerous behavior" ?

  • @VolParagom actually, it becomes my business when i breath it in

  • I say, go ahead, smoke and die from it. one less person in this world to fight with. what's your true agenda to stop people from smoking?

  • Yet another stupid commercial brought to you by the anti-smoking gestapo

  • so it's ok to contaminate others and keep supporting those murderers?

  • i don't fully understand this commercial .

can someone explain what they mean ?

  • they're setting up manicquins as representation of replacements for people who have died because of cigerettes. he was saying that because tobacco products kill people, they lose customers, so they need to attract people to smoke to replace the deceased. 'replacement smokers'. the girl said that her dad died due to emphsima and that she hasn't met his replacement yet

  • No. Car companies sell cars to humans that drive them irresponsibility which then kills other people.

Cigarettes are sold directly from multinational conglomerate to their customers even though they know the product kills its customers. Your analogy is painfully misleading and a classic case of tobacco industry 'muddying of the waters'.

Stop sticking up for the indefensible.

  • Point me to a study - I would like to take a look.

  • @thedannyclayton what about pork lard?

  • @moodswyng what?

  • @thedannyclayton why are there no such campaigns to inhibit the sales of pork lard?

  • @thedannyclayton how about mcdonalds huh? Heart disease is now second in preventable deaths in the united states, should we ban saturated fats? One could argue junk foods are as addictive as tobacco. Not only that but over half of all advertisments are for junk foods and 80% of all those are marketed specifically towards children. Is that a fair analogy?

  • @MrBubbaloo Probably...yes. But to argue that junk food is as addictive as nicotine is not true. Show me the reams of studies that show me this is the case.

I agree that junk food should not be aimed at children. I think the companies involved are unscrupulous and there should be legislation to at least show children the consequences of eating such crap. The difference between Mcd and cigs though is that you can have one mcd a week and still be healthy. You can't do that with smoking.

  • @thedannyclayton Addictions come from a persons willpower (or lack thereof). Ever know anyone trying to quit drinking coffee or sodas? Many of these people respond to ending those addictions in the same ways that people respond to ending a nicotine addiction. Anything can be 'addictive'...anything.

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans To an extent yes. But nicotine is one of the most addictive properties on earth. There is no reason to smoke other than addiction. Most smokers hate it and want to quit! The industry add ingredients to make the nicotine more addictive...why do this? To keep their customers. According to much brighter people than you and me (Doctors and Professors) nicotine is more addictive than heroin and cocaine...chh ching for the tobacco industry eh?!

  • @thedannyclayton Addiction is a willpower issue, you'll never convince me, or anyone with any common sense that nicotine is as addictive as cocaine or heroin, no matter what scientific study you want to quote. But the again I've smoked pot for 15 years and never gave into it being a gateway drug and never got lead onto any other 'drug' so I guess I'm just some kind of freak of nature for actually having (and using) willpower.

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans so i'm in a discussion here with someone who doesn't believe the facts (even tobacco companies now admit nicotine is highly addictive) from studies from universities in nearly every country in the world. You've also smoked pot for 15 years eh? You probably are an idiot then.

  • @thedannyclayton Big Tobacco had no excuse but to 'admit' that it is addictive, after being sued by people who were so weak they could not take responsibility for their own actions. Sure they denied the health problems for a long time, but use common sense, smoke in lungs = bad, if I die of cancer from tobacco it's my fault. If you die of cancer, I'd like for you to prove (before you die of course) beyond the shadow of a doubt that it was secondhand smoke. What's that? You can't?

  • @thedannyclayton The indefensible? Is there no personal responsibility? Alcohol contributes to 100,000 deaths every year, yet no one demonizes the alcohol companies.

What do you see as a solution? Treat tobacco as an illegal drug? Your puritan views have already led to...laws against smoking in planes, total government control on all tobacco advertising, entire states have smoke free buildings!

What more do you want? You don't have a right to not to a non smoking section!

  • @VictoryCough Not when the tobacco industry has known about the addictive nature of tobacco and how damaging it is for over 70 years whilst they continue to advertise the product to children. Yes eventually we need to treat tobacco as an illegal drug but not yet. Denormalising it will work but prohibition doesn't. Education works, for example the truth adverts. Laws against smoking in planes and pubs etc protects non smokers; overwhelming majority of people - 8 out of 10 people in the UK in fact

  • @thedannyclayton You honestly think we should make cigarettes illegal? Do you think that will reduce the problem or exacerbate it? How do they advertise to children? How about you mind your own business when it comes to an individuals health, personal habits and children! Non-smokers don't have a right to sit at a bar and not smell smoke. It should be left to the owner of the bar.

Exactly what did I say that is incorrect?

  • @VictoryCough Prohibition always works, didn't you know? *sarcasm* You're dead on, nice to know there is some intelligence here.

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans Prohibition doesn't work buyt eventually you need to ban something that kills more people than aids, drug abuse, alcohol abuse and car accidents COMBINED.

  • @thedannyclayton Of course when you have a greater population that smokes it will have a greater death rate, find a study that shows more tobacco users dying per-capita than any of those things and you may have something...may...if anyone besides yourself is stupid enough to believe biased studies. It's like saying the autism rate is skyrocketing, of course its skyrocketing when diagnosis are more liberal...and it is more well defined.

  • @VictoryCough You are talking crap. When the amount of smokers gets below 5% then we can make it illegal as I pointed out. At the moment public health campaigns to PROTECT 80% of those that don't smoke and to encourage those that do to quit is the way forward. Just google 'tobacco advertising to children' and have a look at how the industry targets kids. Do you think its a fluke that 90% of smokers start before 18? The industry itself admit that if they don't get replacement smokers it'll fold

  • @thedannyclayton So you think tyranny is ok as long as it done by the majority. You live in a dream world if you think smokers will ever be less than 5% or that smoking rates aren't cyclical. The idea that nicotine lozenges and candies are marketed to children is naive! All advertisement is done by adults requesting promotional material! Government can't protect people from themselves. Why don't you mind your own business when it comes to others health?

  • @VictoryCough Also there are plenty of campaigns against alcohol. Hence the proliferation of incredible alcohol adverts. You just need to see the scope and budget of stella/carling/guinness adverts in the UK to see how worried the alcohol industry is...public health is belatedly waking up to the damage alcohol is causing the young in the UK. In short; your arguments are poor and your facts are incorrect.

  • @thedannyclayton Plenty of campaigns against alcohol? really? Is that why almost ever alcohol commercial shows people on the beach or in a club dancing and having the best time ever? Seems to me like tobacco is demonized while alcohol is worshiped.

  • Comment removed

  • @f1r3st0rm3r Not sure I quite understand your pisspoor style of writing but if you had any form of intelligence you'd understand that I am AGAINST smoking. So why was that comment aimed at me?

  • It's the stupid drivers. cars are not un heathly over all.

  • when used as directed cigarettes are the only product for sale that will kill users, when used as directed... cars are used irrisponsibly in the majority of collisions,

  • Tobacco kills 440,000 and cost

$96 billion a year in health care coss in the US alone.

still think it is the same?

Tobacco kills more people each year than AIDS, fire, suicide, car accidents, murder, illigit drugs and alcohol combined.

  • I hear what your saying completely however, you hear about car crashes all the time. People choose to drive knowing the risk. Smokers are addicted, and might not know the risk they are ill-informed.

  • In 1998 U.S. District Court Judge William Osteen overturned the 1993 Environmental Protection Agency's report on secondhand tobacco smoke. He ruled that the authors approached the study with a predetermined mindset, manipulated the research and analyses to reach a conclusion they deemed favorable to their cause.

  • you fail to mention the hundred of peer assessed high level studies that prove beyond doubt that second hand smoke is a cause of ill health.

  • OK -

    Which is the best study?

  • contact the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada, ask them if they can referance the hundreds of diffrent peer reviewed journals that cover tobacco use for you. They should be able to find you one from the last 4-5 years that state that second hand smoke is dangerous as well... i personally would love to tell you, but you know, that removes the learning experiance... and i don't need to prove myself to you, i have my degree and i work in tobacco control... so, :)

  • So it should not be difficult for you to just copy and paste a study for me . . .

  • actually, they changed their classification from a class A carcinogen to a known carcinogen. Either way they both cause cancer.

  • huh?

  • that is a cool commercial....lol setting up looked pretty hard...

  • This is really good it should be everywhere !

  • Good commercial. One question though....did they actually show this one on national television? And if so, how did the get the shots with so many naked female manniquins past the censors?

  • Damn awesome commmerical. Where are these replacement smokers?

  • @BodySprayMan What I'd like to know is, with all this talk against tobacco use, and all the taxes that are made from the sell of tobacco at the moment, what will we tax when we finally have a nation of non-smokers?

  • @RoboticsNShenanigans

I wouldn't know. In fact, I haven't thought about this and the commercial since I commented over a year ago.
