Thanks for posting a new video. I'm not a big video follower, since I was stuck on dialup for ages, never got into the habit of watching them. I was told by several docs that I would only lose 50 lbs with the band. I've lost nearly 4.5x's that amount. They are amazed when they see me now. I don't know if I'll reach 100% and honestly not sure that I want to get that small. I'm still working on it though. Congratulations on your success!
@Lisaizme Congrats on your success! That is awesome! I wonder why doctors tell us that. Take someone like me...and it motivates me to prove them wrong. Take someone with a different personality and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy (or an excuse to give up after so long). As far s the 100%--- you just get to the size that YOU want to be. That's what matters. For a while, I wasn't sure I wanted to be at a "normal" BMI...but ended up going for it.
@butterflybegins I once asked a bariatric nurse (who is also banded) about the 50lb thing. She said it's based on studies.. that are essentially flawed. They only followed the patients for one year, & the band takes longer than a year (for many) to have optimal results. As much as I had to lose, there was little chance to achieve it in one year. I'm happy w where I am now, until I go shopping & what I want is gone in 12 & 14.. I need to either gain to wear a 16 (NO!) or lose to a 10.
CRAZY TALK! when Professionals tell us we cannot expect to achieve the loss of 100% of our excess weight ! because it was also possible for me! I did it too! This is an exceptionally inspirational video-- it is our loss that you are not around more! best wishes
@cabernetqueen I truly don't understand why they tell patients that. I am sure it turns some patients off to the whole idea...thinking that if they can't go all the way, why even do it.... or it gives them an excuse to not work at it. But then again---- you take determined people like us...and we set out to go all the way and prove them wrong! :)
You were definitely missed! Glad to see your update is a good one...and I feel exactly the same as you about people who have the surgery due to my success and then blame me when they're unsuccessful. Sooo frustrating! You keep on rockin' those size 4's!
@AmalCPhT I love my 4's.I am in the 135-140 range weight wise (I am not a regular weigher- my goal was 135) I did go as low as 130 for a while. I have to admit.. it excited me to get into some 2's, but 4 is my "comfortable" size.
so glad to see a video from you! i have missed you! i love how you ended it... where are you going from here... anywhere you want to! awesome! Happy New Year!
YOU ARE AMAZING! Thank you for making this video and for re-introducing yourself. I never knew you before and am so grateful to have the privelege to see your success now. What an inspiration you are. Thanks again!
I have missed your videos SO much! You have inspired me more than you'll ever know, Shari. For that I thank you. You are a fantastic role model of a superb lapband patient...if only your co-workers would recognize that and follow suit. What a shame that they would look at you that way - you need not apologize for ANYTHING! So glad to see you back here, you look tremendous. What's your FB Name? Take good care of yourself!
I have missed your videos! And you are so right about these rules! if you do not follow them, you will not lose! Congrats on the Masters, and sorry about the loses. Great Video!!
@11bycon Thanks so much....we all have the potential to be someone else's inspiration. :) I can remember when I never would have thought of myself that way...and its still kinda weird to. LOL
yay, yay, yay! you look fab! love the long hair on you. I remember last xmas when the little guy got the jackson dance game - he has perfected the moves. Awesome! To those in your community that are watching - - GROW SOME MENTAL STRENGTH AND DO THE FREAKING THE WORK PEOPLE -- and there is no need for anybody to apologize to you! I am off my soap box now. Yes, you are in fact Proof WLS Works. Thanks again for coming on to share. Are you still running? Happy New Year! All the best to YOU!
@bandedwendy Yes, I am still running and hope to work my way up to a half marathon in 2012. I am living life to the fullest and loving every minute of it! :)
And my little guy is quite the dancer...wins many local talent contests. LOL. I highly recommend the Michael Jackson experience game for exercise when homebound, too. ;)
