Karl I do feel that your arguments are rather anecdotal. I'm believe what you said about "difficulty with democrats" in Bush's decisions, but because I won't look it up and can't petition the Freedom of Info act. But truthfully most of Bush's accolades that you speak of are more of half-fixes or damage controls. Whereas truthfully, like all presidents he will be measured by results and what the country was like before he started vs. what it was like after. In both those regards he is a failure.

I think this idea of Bush kept us safe for seven years is foolish

It is not like the nine eleven attacks were going to be a daily event.

No one has the capability of organizing such events in the US.

It took who ever did it ( international terrorist or right wing neo conservative religious right Americans ) decades of planning.
