Jacqueline Marie Evancho - Ambassador for planet Earth (we could have none finer!!). As God sings with her, they both spread divine love-light across the planet. She is the epitome of beauty - inside and out. An Earth Angel for sure. We should all count our blessings for being alive to witness the blossoming of this extremely rare and incredible talent. No entertainer can reach into the depths of your soul like Jackie can. She brings joy to millions.
Its like, when she was born, God pointed to her & this invisible spark went from his finger into her tiny body. This energy hid inside of her until the one day she started singing and people started to notice. Then through You Tube & AGT this little treasure chest was opened for the whole world to see. And we all stand in absolute amazement of such a beautiful talent.
I cannot breathe when I experience this. Does anybody think this is just a natural talent? My God! What 11 yr old can know these emotions...especially when raised in such a happy home? When she sings this you feel the sadness of the doomed lovers. One of my favorite movies..House of Flying Daggers. The depth she brings, her purity of tone and perfect pitch cannot be of this world. We have been given a blessing of which I am very grateful.
@jimoha003 It was her idea. David Foster had not heard it. Kathleen Battle sings it at the end of the moive House of Flying Daggers. An excellent movie by the way. Tragic love. Jackie has unrivaled depth for a child. Yet, is happy, well balanced and sane. Her singing, her beauty both inside and out, her family....is it a fluke of nature or something more profound......a Divine source. Such beauty can only be.
@Kirkunik1 Just listened to Battle's version. It lacks the power and passion of this 10 year old child. It also lacks the "Big Finish" that Jackie has here. Kathleen has a beautiful voice no doubt about that but for me, Jackie Evancho sings the definitive performance of this emotionally powerful song. And I know the composer will agree with me.
Jackie has said this is her favorite song to sing and one has only to listen to understand why.
I really hope you aren't advocating that Jackie's version is objectively superior. Yes, this is my favorite version of this song too, but it's because of the emotion and purity that Jackie gives to it, even if it fails to compare in technique to Kathleen Battle's. I just want to give Battle her dues, she sings it wonderfully with impossibly perfect technique, but I agree that it lacks the passion Jackie sing with here. I find that a fault with a lot of very trained singers.
@AlicedeTerre I am actually. Listen to each one and make your own decision. That's what I did. Kathleen signs it perfectly as you say, no technical flaws, but I prefer Jackie. Very few singers can reach into a piece of music and pull out the emotion the composer wants. And yet this 11 year old pint sized girl pulls the feelings out of a piece of music time and time again. Listen to the last note. Jackie just keeps bringing it to the end with that big crescendo. Incredible talent.
