  • akron sure looks different

  • the chase went right by my school on s. main....cool upload ,,,thanx..

  • Chase starts at 4:07

  • The locations where we shot chases scenes were downtown Akron, Firestone Park, The Gorge, Sand Run Park, North Hill, Cuyahoga Falls, and other scenes at Children's Zoo, former Anthe's Restaurant in Portage Lakes, Prestwick Country Club, Coventry High School (where I attended. I also attended Tallmadge HS), Summit County Jail, Akron PD HQs, Waterloo Restaurant, and in my studio in a large warehouse close to South Arlington and I-77. Blessings, Don Bendell

  • 7:36 was the corner of mill and main. still look almost the same today

  • was this filmed at the upper deck?? hahahaahahahahahahaha

  • i think they are at springfield lake lol...i catch many fish there lol

  • TheEurasia1984. You can go to amazon and type in "the instructor, bendell" and it will take you to used copies of the film, or you can buy them off of the web. I bought several copies for just a few bucks. Or go to my site and click on the film and it will take you there.

SGTForrestgump I am a fake but use my own name? But a flake like you with no cahones has to hide behind a phony movie name? Yeah, people sure will respect your comments . . . . . Not.

  • @donbendell Thanks soooooooooo much. you have no idea how happy I am.

  • I got to school there and live near all of those city streets, I think I saw my building too lol

  • I never knew martial arts was so big in Akron back in the day...

  • Is that the same band that does soundtracks for porno flicks?

  • WOW thanks I didn't know there are so many movies filmed in Ohio.

  • that C3 handles like a boat haha

  • Don Bendell is a FAKE Karate GRANDmaster, he sucks just like his Books.....

  • I love how that woman gets karate chopped.

  • Added to Epic Car Chases, Stunts, and Wrecks.

  • @BillyLo1995 Thanks Billy, I have directed a little, but started writing novels and books in the late eighties. I have 25 books out now with over 2,500,000 copies in print worldwide. My new one is a western called STRONGHEART and is getting many 5 star reviews and selling off the shelves at Wal-Mart abnd places like that. I hope it will be a film someday, as I am a real cowboy with a real horse, and real ranch in southern Colorado. I also have a screenplay about Vietnam called YARDS. Thanx Don

  • Someone asked about Jerry Cohen. Jerry is a great guy and was a great friend. Have not seen him for years. Thanks, Lordarkeet. Who are you? Yes, the Uppper Deck was called the White House back then. I grew up a half mile away on Point Comfort at the end of Turkeyfoot Golf course. Miss Nicki, it was a feature film, not a documentary. It does not matter where we took shots, just what looks better on screen. The motorcycle chase was from State Road, Firestone Park, Sand Run Park, and the Gorge.

  • Wasnt the Upper Deck, White House back then?

  • I used to be taught martial arts by Don...>.>..He's epic

  • What is the name of the dark car in 7:47?

    thank you.

  • @mkaatr The dark blue car is a Chevy Corvette (7:47) and the black one is a Pontiac Trans Am

  • my aunt was outside of her work one day and she saw a big drug bust go on right outside of it! Akron is kinda scary...

  • I thought Akron was know for rubber, not martial arts experts...

  • I'm wit missnicki on that you can't get places like that round here plus the APD these days woulda been on that shut tryin ta shoot mufuckas an shit haha

  • To Harley, Thanks. The Trans-Am was owned by a buddy from Manchester named Dan Darden. The blue corvette was actually two Vettes. One was real and the other was brown, painted over w/blue for the jump. It broke in half. By agreement, I paid the owner a grand, he fixed it up, and then sold it at a handsome profit as the Vette that crashed thru the truck. By the way, I have a new western, STRONGHEART, being released worldwide Sep 7. Please read it.

  • 7:29-I LOVE the powder blue AMC Gremlin way off in the background. I have a similar car. It made my day spotting that.

  • Flippin' eyy!! I live right up the road from scorchers! Wasn't 15 years ago everything looked real similar to this!

  • I believe at 8.43 they are going through the S. Mail/Exchange intersection. The brown building coming up on the right is now the AES building, where I worked in college on third floor, then rented out by MBNA. At 8.40, on the left, a building with the sign BEST were popular bars around 2003-2006, now owned by UAkron. Around 8.53 they are passing Spaghetti Warehouse.

  • looks like just another night at the Upper Deck!

  • hmmm GM vs GM, whos gonna win, GM!

  • yes 6:07 is waterloo and main looking east . with Holy Cross Cemetary to the southeast ..and also there was a Sunoco where Sheets is now (opposite the cemetary), not a Sohio . Sohio was at 4:07 , in between what is now Scorchers and , The Waterloo rstr. which remains an Akron icon. (anymore questions) and yes, I know how to spell restaurant. have no clue where 4:50 is.

  • Ha this movie and Lebron James helped put Akron on the map. Have any of you guys seen the movie "The Dead Next Door"? it was filmed in Akron too at the Derby Downs and in the Quayle baseball fields by the RubberBowl

  • 7:20 Westbound down Bowery St. hill (turning onto Main St.)

  • 5:10 sunoco is now a Sheets station lol I remember the old Caprice cruisers in the 80's

  • @V8FordTempo Actually you're thinking of waterloo and main...where the sunoco was now is a mechanic shop..with a circle k and bp caddie corner.

  • Whaere is 4:51?

  • Wow the CLICK's sign! thats a Goodwill store now!

  • Ouch! Looked like it hurt after you kicked him into the water.

  • I am the writer, producer, director, co-star, of the film. I directed all this and was doing some of the driving. Somebody said it was filmed in 1983, but it was not. It was shot in 1980, we did some re-shooting (the beginning of the film in Colorado in 1983) and it was released worldwide in 1983. It was sold to and shown in 164 countries and was out on Vestron video. Blessings, Don Bendell

  • Hello Don, Thanks for the info. Awesome Chase!! I added your info to the description. Hope you dont mind me having the video up its very popular video for the people that live in Akron,Ohio, and very hard to find movie. Thanks again love the flick.

  • Yes I did and no I did not. I had zero experience in the film business and likewise with my cast and crew. I raised the money which was very little and I was functioning on about 3 hours per sleep per night for 7 weeks. I also was going through a marriage breakup. so I have mixed memories. I will tell you one thing; I felt alive! My wife now and I have been married 28 years. She was an extra on the movie and her aunt was my art director and fixed us up. I'm very much in love with my wife. Thanks

  • @donbendell don you had some cool cars in the movie

  • @donbendell What, no mention of Jerry Cohen? Nice job, Don!

  • @donbendell Really ? Awesome movie , but NOT VERY FAMOUS DAMM IT !!!

Well movies with martial arts have been famous and weren't good , and this one was VERY NICE but not famous !!! DO YOU DIRECT any movie now ???

  • @donbendell How can I get a full copy??

  • @donbendell I am serious about getting a copy. Please let me know. Thanks

  • It all looks so different. I saw an ACME CLICKS!!! I hven't seen one of those since I was little. I remember they had a machine you put a quarter in and a chicken clucked and layed an egg with a cheesy toy inside. I called them bock bocks.lol

  • @STFUHATERZ if you are ever in bradenton, fl there is one of those machines at the red barn flea market... love it!!!

  • all them damn potholes on main they wouldn't be able to do that shit no more lol

  • hey i just walked that street from downtown last night ( got arrested on sumner street at the block party)

  • Funny how times before me looked so different. ha i can notice alot of the same things but all the buildings and places have changed so much

  • that's strange... I was just driving those streets earlier today. also, I love how he's only going like 55 or 60 and his speedometer says 120. haha.

  • I was 15 years old when this movie was filmed in 1983. At 6:07 i was standing slightly off camera to the right in the Sohio Gas station lot watching as this scene was filmed.

  • haha! sweet.

  • did you mean 4:07??

  • nope at 6:07 the scene is showing the intersection of Waterloo and main.

  • that was my first job when i was 16, barback for the upper deck. thanks jim and chris.

  • im from akron

  • god, i didn't know they were still making movies like these in the 80's. just listen to the soundtrack, man...

  • The fight was funny as hell

  • Does anyone know where that hill is at 5: 53 ? what is the name of that street?

  • That's funny Portage Hotel and Scott's 5 and ten

  • The fight was stupid, and annoying because the main characters more antipathetic than his enemy's!

    Dosen't it?

    The Chase was not worse.

  • 6:15 Holy Cross Cemetary on Waterloo, and South Main st.

  • ow shit your right!

  • wow. it's bob chaney....im suprised

  • I believe that's Memorial Parkway/Uhler Ave. at 6:49. Use to drive those roads occasionally when I worked in Akron.

  • 854 go jo building to the left

  • so it basically went in a big circle?
