As I commented in another video, Marty Wilde and Conway Twitty did better versions. The arrangements, guitar licks, backing singers, everything about the production in those two were much better than in Elvis' , which as everyone knows sounds like a work in progress, or just a simple demo record for someone else to record when compared with the rest of the KC soundtrack. But neither Marty or Conway hit those last notes the way Elvis does, from the heart and gut. Check the ending...
@daveyanna Google google google knows. It should be included as a bonus track on the CD of King Creole, because it was left off of the original 1958 album. It is of course also included on the 50's masters 5CD boxed set.
@daveyanna yep if you do that you will find that the enhanced version of the soundtrack album was released in 1997 with 7 bonus tracks attached to the original 11 tracks. "Danny" is track 14.
@daveyanna And what songs of the unknown ones do you like best? I like Crawfish, Lover Doll and Dixieland Rock. And Steadfast, Loyals and True as well.
@MertonHayford ... I like Please Don't Stop Loving Me, How Can You Loose What You Never Had, My Girl, Western Union, An Evening Prayer, In My Father's House, I'll Be Back, and Never Ending of the lesser ones .. plus all the ones you said except Crawfish. :)
@MertonHayford .. oh! Well .. your question has been worrying at me since I kept thinking of other lesser known Elvis songs that I enjoy and felt duty bound to be accurate with you but worried that listing 50 plus songs would take up to much space here! My favourite from King Creole is "Danny" !! The thing about Elvis is that he has sung something to suit every mood and it would be quite impossible to choose an all time favourite .. quite impossible. :)
@daveyanna Yes Elvis has many sides. His song Guadelajara, the only song he sang in Spanish, is beautiful and has received so many YouTube comments in Spanish that you start tyo think he should have done an all-Spanish album.
@MertonHayford Guadalajara was his only completely Spanish song, but he did sing others that were sprinkled w/ Spanish - can't remember which ones, but I'm thinking of those from "Fun in Acapulco."
Also, while he had an impressive knack w/ Italian and German lyrics, he oddly wasn't quite as successful w/ his pronunciation in Guadalajara. But I agree, he definitely should have made an all-Spanish album. Getting the Spanish right wouldn't have taken him long at all. :)

Conway Twitty - Lonely Blue Boy (Weisman - Wys)
The song was originally done by Elvis Presley under the title of "Danny".
It was recorded for the movie King Creole, but was cut from the sound track.
The screen play was an adaption of the book, "A Stone for Danny Fisher".
The script was originally given to James Dean before he died.
The rise of Elvis Presley gave the studio a chance to re write the script into
a musical-drama. take a moment to listen to Danny by Elvis.

Danny was recorded a year later by Conway Twitty under the title of Lonely Blue Boy, Just slightly re-arranged, but unmistakably the same song.

@daveyanna Aha but I was only referring to songs on King Creole, not the whole legacy. Western Union is one of my faves too.
