  • Why have they not got long tails? Is that natural? (I adore horses but have never kept one, just curious).

  • @LadyHarrington2k Historically, draft horse foals have had their tails docked, on the grounds that

their tails are at risk of getting caught in the harness or the wheels. The practice is coming under

scrutiny as probably painful, and unnecessary. In the UK, the practice has been banned for decades.

I got to see the East Coast Budweiser team up close a few weeks ago, they visited a nearby mall. : )

(There are 3 teams.) Beautiful horses.

  • @marysueeasteregg Oh ok, thanks.

Bet they were amazing to see in person! :)

Yeah, that's what I thought, that it's illegal here to dock any animals tails, it's like cutting off a limb. I hope they do stop it and find some way around their tails getting caught up.

Either way, the most beautiful animals by far!

  • Fuck Anheuser Busch they have supported cannabis prohibition and drug war propaganda more than once including funding Reefer Madness in the 20s. If you purchase products from these scumbags you are supporting the arrest of cancer patients who use cannabis.

  • @pervertedpenguin69 They don't want competition.

  • @breezeman199 morals>money

  • 4 people are jealous of these Clydesdales lol

  • they stayed at the barn i was at when going through florida..they are impressive and sweet...i rode a clydes once....it was comfy

  • Where is Brewer?

  • I LOVE a Clydesdale's tail!! But these horses are GORGEOUS!!!

  • I love clydesdales. So big yet so calm.

  • it would be so much better if they had longer tails, even if they tie it up for the parade/show.. I think a horse needs its tail long

  • they need a taller fence.

  • omg... his neck is big.... and very massive...

    very beautiful horse

  • Dont you mean "A budwiser horse up close"?

  • I knew a clyd that hated being in a barn...one night he kicked a hole thru the wall and was in the pasture in the morning......

  • these guys are in orlando florida aint they i had my picture took with one of them in 08 and got to see the donkey from the bud adverts too xD so cutee

  • Now that's a horse! 8 D I've always had a soft spot for big animals :)

  • They are beautiful horses.

  • hes like you guy are retarded haven't you ever seen a horse god quit starring at me ill kick your ass

  • Where can u buy halters that Big for draft horses

  • @iluvgypsy1234 you ask about halters, but where do you buy the rest of the GIANT oversized stuff that the clydesdale uses.

  • drafts that show have their tails docked, cause back when they worked the fields they would get caught in machinery and get caught in the harness and lines and stuff . now we continue that heritage in the hsow ring but we braid them up . many people thik this is inhumane. but really its surgically removed, or removed when their only hours old and their nerve endings arnt there? and also we put fly sheets when they go outside,

  • @Horseyoliver All of you are talking about how this horses tail is "docked" I went to the brewery and got to talk to a lot of the horse caretakers and there is only ONE horse there whose tail is actually "docked" . The rest of them get their tails trimmed every other week to keep them short. But only ONE had his tail acutally cut to prevent further growth, and that is one of their older horses.

  • @AshleighRSexton LOL okaay, well go to any draft show, and ALL tails are docked. i show belgiaanns. so i know :)

  • @Horseyoliver I wasn't talking about your show horses I was talking about ONLY the Budwiser horses, read the comment a little closer never time please. I dont show draft horses I show AQHA and APHA, so it would have been out of my place to make a statement about ALL draft bred horses.

  • @Horseyoliver In my country it's formally prohibitted to amputate an animal its tail or ears being a dog, sheep or horse if there are no medical reasons to it like an inflamation or a crack in the bone structure that can harm the animal. I like that better really. See how you'll feel being attacked by flies and not being able to swat them like nature designed you to. So, go to a draft show in my country and you'll be amazed. They have tails!

  • That horse is like B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!!!<333(:

  • I LOVE CLYDESDALES!!!

  • I know a lot of you guys are against docking the tail but he still has a part of it? It's so his tail doesn't get caught in the carraige wheels or the plow. It's only for the Horse's safety. Sometimes it is style because thats just how the breed is presented.

  • "When I consider the works of thy hands..who am I Lord that thou are mindfull of me"? Only God could create something so beautiful.

  • @mistyholiday1987 gayyyy

  • @09Chelsh

Only an idiot homophobe could come up with that line.

  • @09Chelsh

It's a quote form the Book of Psalms but then I doubt you now even where the Book of Psalms is found.

  • I don't know much about horses but I certainly appreciate their majesty, particularly the Clydesdale.

But I don't care for Budweiser, I like Sam Adams better.

    (Shh! Don't tell the horse!)

  • don't they trim their tails so they dong get pulled by accident?

  • they dont lose their tails, all horses have a short dock ( bone in the tail) which is shaved which gives the appearance of a short tail. no pain for them.

  • @srf1992 Not true. I work on a Clydesdale breeding farm. It's unfortunate, but necessary if the horses are to be driven as the reins will easily get hung up in the tails. Personally, I would like to see them spend the time braiding and tucking, but what do I know? I'm a dressage trainer.

  • @midge0216 well seen as all our shires dont have docked tails and we shave them so they dont get stuck in carts or plough

  • @srf1992 Well, that is good then. I just watched the veterinarians come out and dock 3 new foals this year. The owners are very insistent on having it done if they intend to show or sell. Frankly, it kinda makes me sick. Like I said, there should be a better way. I hate to see animals intentionally deformed, not just the Clydes, but dogs also. Just really not meant to be.

  • @midge0216 There are plenty of breeds who drive who do not have docked tails, because it's not necessary. Friesians, for instance, have hug thick manes and tails and a lot of the time they don't braid them for driving. It's just this habit thing humans have, like docking the ears and tail of a doberman to give them a 'classic' look.

  • @H0useMouse don't people also dock the tails so it won't be in the way of the harness or whatever it is called(sorry, i ride, not drive) or so it won't get caught?

  • @CelticTears101 Sure, but like I said, many driving breeds are left in tact. I mentioned Friesians; those are rare and expensive horses with which people wouldn't take chances, which means that if the tail was truly in the way, they would braid their horse's tails to prevent breakage. There are carriage horses all around the old port in my city, none of which have docked tails, they all have full, long tails and they're drafts.

  • @H0useMouse ah, ok, thank you! your right, especially about the Friesians, cuz there is no way in heck I would touch my Friesian's tail!

  • There's the Clydesdales which are definitely cool - but also the Twenty Mule Team which is also cool - got two of them!

  • I have seen the hitch from New Hampshire during Speed Week here in Charlotte. One of those times was when they were in full gear. They were pawing the ground ready to go. Once the music was cut on they set off in time to the music as if they were breed to do it. It was awesome to see. Speed Week happens in Charlotte around Memorial Day weekend.

  • I met the budwiser clydesdales

  • Clydesdales are so gorgeous! I love seeing them in the commercials too. :D

  • i have a horses like it but it is white and black

  • I love Clydesdales!

  • we have a clyde at our barn that was in line to be a budweiser horse, but she had one black foot. so they used her for breeding, and now two of her babies are budweiser horses. she has an amazing build... a very classic clydesdale.

  • NICE HORSE!!

  • I'd love a job at this place.

  • OMG WAS THAT IN THE SAINT LOUIS BREWERY. cuz i went there this summer. kewl! im pretty sure thats in the saint louis

    one

  • Yes Grant's Farm is in the St Louis area. It was originally owned by US Grant himself.

  • I have a 7/8 Percheron gelding that a "trainer" tried to break to drive...He couldn't break him to do it after 5 months of trying. He brought him back to me and said I should take him to the auction. That was 2 years ago. He made a heck of a trail horse! Very sure footed!!

  • so glad my draft has a tail!!!!

  • @shaysdusty and im so happy that mine has his tail docked!

  • if i were a hose i would want a tail

  • About tails again...

All horse breeds have short tails, but they grow long hair on their tails. Clydesdales are no exception. Search the web and you will find lots of pictures of Clydesdales with long tails.

But, when you are driving a horse, it is quite common to either shorten the tail or bind it up. The problem with a long tail isn't that it gets tangled in the harness, but that it could deflect the reins when they wisk it around. So you often shorten it while driving, for safety reasons.

  • They're big and definitely strong, but they have a harder time texting than most horses. Nearly 60% of all equine fatalities while driving are Clydesdales texting their girlfriends. When will it stop?

  • lmao!

  • @rugbynimbus yes it is because they have such big hooves and the keys are small on the blackberries

    They are awesome horses

  • @rugbynimbus what???

  • @rugbynimbus Right! It's a downright travesty!

  • @rugbynimbus LOL

  • they are bred for work horses(PULLING) not bread for riding

  • very niave point of view there. heavy horses are by far the most impressive under saddle

  • just going by what I was told by the man who owns 3 of them for his logging business. And when I ask, how do they ride? He answered my reply...so sorry, not niave, just well informed!!

  • Totally agree- I ride a beautiful Clydesdale/shire mixture, very heavy and incredible under the saddle. She's a joy to ride and hacks out beatifully. We don't use her for driving at all she'd completely freak out!

  • tales are docks so they don't get suck in the harness

  • they dont dock their tails... all the draft and pulling breeds dont grow long tails!!! its all in their genetics!!!! you can have a newborn clydsedale and never dock the tail and it would still be short

  • That's not really true. You could take a look at Shires, or Irish cobs (the ones you call Gypsy vanner in the US). They are all bred for work and pulling carts, but they have long, beautiful tails.

  • CLYDESDALES are bred to have short tails so they dont dock them!!! if you see clydesdales foling the foals dont have big tails!! and its all in the genetics

  • If you ever see a shire that is worked it will have a docked or cut or bound tail. This is a fact. Its done for safety. Though obviously if you have a shire that isn't used for pulling then your unlikely to do this.

  • I hate to break it to ya.. but tails are docked often on the draft breeds. I think it is unfortunate as I would want a tail for fly swatting.. but they do dock them and it was done for the purpose of not getting wrapped up in whatever they are pulling. They do it when they are very young.

  • yes i would want one to swat flies too but they are also bred to have it and yes some horses get their tails docked but you can breed a draft for riding and most of the time they will have very short tails.. they are bred too but this arguement is stupid anyways so i will agree with you to a point because some horses get theirs docked and some are born with short tails

  • they dont dock them, they just shave the dock! thats it! no pain made

  • they do dock them, i have a draft farm. and if you noticed if you just shave the hair the actual tail is also quite long, and would get scrathed and cut easily.

  • @CANFIELDQUARTERHORSE well since they have their tails docked that's what the fly spray is for

  • Why do they amputate their tails? The flies must be HELL

  • They dock the tails so they do not get in the harness. The flies are a small problem but they invented fly spray. They do grow long tails but for pulling its a hazzard.

  • they are a native scottish breed - i think ? :S ? i wouldnt quote me on that tho lol x beautiful x

  • They come to our farm every now and then, they are so magnificent :)

  • i want a clysdale!!

  • i wonder were thay are from

  • i LOVE Grants Farm!....im so random haha

  • No you're not.

  • well thank you =P

  • so THATS where budwiser comes from

  • Cool
