  • Because they are "part of the process" in training of the young intercept controllers. The German GFD company is responsible to provide pilots (most of them are ex-military pilots) and assets. The Learjets are almost as manouvreable as the fighters and the pilots are well trained and experienced for the 3 hours missions! Intead of these the aircraft is well equipped. And I think it is cheaper too... :)
