The older generation of Cuban parents never fed their children anti-Americanism nonsense or told them that "the man" was going to keep them down. Instead parents taught their children that they were just as American as those that were here for 200 years, and that they could accomplish anything if they studied, worked hard and did the right thing. This is part of the reason why Cubans and their American-born children have accomplished so much in such a short period of time in the USA.
What an idiot this Terry Moran is asking Marco if he would be likely to be pulled over in Arizona. The assumption is that policemen in Arizona will be profiling and the further assumption is that because Marco Rubio is Cuban, he will be confused for an illegal alien. Problem is that fair-skinned Marco doesn't look particularly ethnic in a "latino" way. In other words, he wouldn't stick out in among a group of other European-Americans.
You could tell it made Rubio a little uncomfortable, because it was racially loaded.
Again and again we go over this. Only liberals care about race anymore. I don't care what color, how tall, how short, how fat, how thin, how blond, or how brunette politicians are. I care about their principles. Rubio so far seems like a decent conservative. I don't care what he is, I care who he is. Not what he was born as, but what he made himself into.

Moran: "These (Cubans) are your people."

There are two words that Rubio did not use directly, but I can say them:
assimilated: They raised their son fully assimilated...English fluent and an _American_.
committed: USA is "home," not Cuba.
Is it good to also be able to speak other language(s) fluently? Hell yes.
Is it good to reminder the path out of the past so you have a basis for forming a world view? You bet cha'!
America skims the top 5% of the best of each "culture" to improve the mix.
E Pluribus Unum.
