  • The dub is alright but I really didn't laugh a lot on the DUBS now Japanese ver on the other had is way more better and made me laugh a lot. I like some dub animes like DBZ, death note, utawarerumono, etc etc etc but for this anime yea Japanese Thumbs of if you agree? :D

  • dfsgf

  • that butterfly dude is freaky!! bt overall good op and show!

  • the guys who did full metal alchemist had to have something to do with this. the use of humonculli and alchemy is just too great, at least it seems to me, for them not to have something to do with each other.

  • This anime have nothing to do with FMA except the concept of alchemy and homunculi wich are completely diffrent in both words, FMA and Buso Renkin were made by diffrent companies in first place so there is no relation in staff working on those, and so is no relation about the writer of manga.

    Buso renkin -

Nobuhiro Watsuki , produced by Xebec.

FMA - Hiromu Arakawa, produced by Aniplex.

Also Buso Renkin isn't a ripoff of FMA and oposite, there are various animes with alchemy and homunculi.

  • @SonofStark Alchemy and Homunculli aren't original concepts, you know. xD FMA just made those ideas popular or common, if anything.

  • @Rainmarsfox yeah, i know. it's just that fma and br are the only ones i know off.

  • this was a great series and is dissapointally underrated. it has a great intro, likable characters and despite wat people constantly mention thru comments about the dub, its watchable in englsh(not the best but definatly not the worst)

  • This anime was created by the same guy who made Rurouni Kenshin. That's why it's so good! ;)

  • Great song! Love Yoshiki Fukuyama's voice.

Would have love the series better if it weren't so similar to Bleach, in the sense that a girl fighting monster in the process somehow killed a boy, who in turn become like her (and more powerful) to fight the bad guys.

  • very good show they should make a sequel(hey the kakugane is still stuck in kazuki's body after all)

  • uncannily catchy great guy that nobuhiro watsuki

  • Funimation should dub this.

  • Funimation is great. Viz has already done it though. It's not too spectacular.

  • i love this song

  • love this opening *-*

  • They need to dub this fast!!!

  • Dubs suck. Learn this now. I you truly enjoy this, you'll watch it how it was MEANT to be seen.

  • Hard to decide sometimes yo...

It was meant to be SEEN after all, not READ. Dubs with PROPER voice actors and script translators mean you can enjoy it in the comfort of your own language... without staring at the bottom of the screen, sparing only the occasional glance at the main action.

I'm not trying to get carried away here ^_^ Just saying that it all depends.

  • the thing with that is, it was meant to be viewed in a specific language (usually Japanese), and the dubbers not only change the language, but since most countries have more strict censorship than Japan, they also remove blood, curses, anything mildly sexual, and even the situations people are uncomfortable with... (In Sailor moon, 2 of them, who were lesbians, were changed to cousins, and the bad guys used to both be guys, but people thought it was too uncomfortable...

  • I agree with you there! I only defended the VOICE OVERS, which sometimes sound really good. If we're talking general ADAPTATION, like scripts/story changes, then Original Japanese wins.

Actually Buso Renkin dubs sound awful, and bland. But on the plus side, I didn't catch any changes in the material, so kudos to the script adapters! ^_^

Public TV always sullies it down. Since Sailor Moon was aimed at young Americans, and in the 90's, their changes were probably for the best in the long run.

  • The only time i've ever thought a dub was well done was in FMA...

  • I hear that! FMA is excellent

  • Not true, there ARE good dubs too, you know. Most of the dubs made in the last five years are almost completely faithful to the original. Sure, there are bad ones like Sailor Moon, Dragonball or anything by 4Kids, but then you've also got plenty of good ones like Death Note or the FUNimation-version of One Piece. Though the japanese version tends to be better anyway, you can't really blame people for preferring to watch it in their own language.

  • Name five dubs that suck from the last five years that aren't dubbed by anyone named Saban, 4Kids, or Viz.

    That's right, you can't.

  • Thats cuz those are the main dub-houses... but:

    Tokko

    wolf's Rain

    Witch Hunter Robin

    Fullmetal Panic

    Busou Renkin

  • Okay, you've got me there.

But I still hate that people act as if all dubs are 4Kids quality. There have been MANY good dubs over the years, but the fans are never open to them (THEY ARE OFFICIAL RELEASES, AT LEAST SUPPORT THEM).

  • There are REASONS that nobody supports them..

1)The style of speech can't be correctly transferred into most other languages (esp. English), because Japanese is spoken without any emphasis on syllables.

2)The voice actors picked generally are very poor matches for their characters.

    3) If it's an official dub (english at least), then its very obvious where the dubbers took out curses, and censored the speech.

  • All your opinion.

And what do you mean "nobody supports them"? The Funimation One Piece boxsets are topsellers and you wouldn't believe how many DBZ and Naruto sets sell every day.

The only people who don't support official releases are those who don't want to see their favorite series get out to more people (and some of those people may even learn to love the Japanese version).

So please, try not to be a complete purist. Even a mediocre dub is still money going towards the original company.

  • "my opinion"?

the matches can be called opinions, but when you consider that Japanese has many conventions not used in English, there is NO WAY it is close to its original form. If you read up on Japanese, there is no emphasis on syllables. Example - in Busou Renkin, the main character's name is Kazuki. It's pronounced "kahzukee". In English, they put emphasis becuase thats how english is spoken. They say "Kuhzookee".

  • And on the "they take out curses" thing... Consider this: Naruto was released as a show for teens and young adults in Japan. The show, when released here, was given a Y7 rating..... Do the math. The scenes where the characters are saying drat and darn? If you listen in Japanese they clearly say the words for "Sh*t and stuff like that.

  • Kuso is not the japanese equivliant to shit. (and as far as I know there isn't one) It is at the most crap. There are some explinatives in japanese, but they aren't completely interchangable with ours. You proubly see a lot of subs where the subbers exagurate swears often. If you see the same anime with two different subs, one could be filled with harsh swears every other line, but the other will only squeaze out a hell, crap, and maybe shit every so often.

  • so you claim that the subbers are correct when they put in words like "darn" during an intense moment? Besides, how do you explain the change in rating from a more mature rating to a lower one?

  • I'm not saying that there aren't cases where the dubbers over curve the swears, just that it's not as horribly contrast as you say. Your rating system arguement is wrong; if anything most things would be raised if the anime are brought over untouched. The downgrading, once again, is the choice of the dubbing group and not uncontrolable from cultural differences as you portraying it. I'm a wee-a-boo too, but atleast I know what I'm talking about and not using ignorant gape vine arguments.

  • "grape-vine arguments"? Give me a break... I have watched both editions of some anime, and can see the difference in language myself... I've watched plenty of different anime from US releases to special releases that have yet to come here, and I know the differences. It's not something I hear and parrot.

  • well 'you' know how to say it right, 'I' know how to say it right. I think a propper dubbing group using speach coaches could get (and have gotten) english voice actors to pronounce a few names properly. That's only a problem when the dubbing group doesn't take the time or consideration to do that.

  • @guilmonjosh I hate most dubs, but I actually loved the Full Metal Panic and the Busou Renkin dub. There are tons of good dubs out there, but 4Kids quality dubs kinda ruined it.

  • @guilmonjosh THANK YOU! Finally someone who sees talent in dubs...I felt alone in sometimes liking dubs more than subs

  • This one is a nice anime from Master Nobuhiro Watsuki , the one who made Rurouni Kenshin.

It's a shame that this anime only haves 27 episodes....

  • NAH, I think it's fine how it is.

Although, it WOULD be fun to see more of Kazuki, Tokiko, and Papillon - HAHA - but I figure, there's no need to ruin an excellent show by stretching it out unnecessarily. Simple, Short, Sweet... Solid! ^_^

  • Wait, wait, you mean Busou Renkin ENDS after just 27 episodes??? Man, and I thought Shaman King was short with like, what, 64? Does the manga carry on, cus this is way too good to just stop there?

  • I thought so too! Haha. But with things like BLEACH, NARUTO, INUYASHA, DBZ, etc. They go on FOREVER! And eventually there are people who get sick of it, say mean things, and end up spreading the hate.

Buso Renkin is impervious to that kind of dishonor! It's greatness has been established, it ends nicely, and reasonably.

What we've seen was awesome. More would also be nice, but milking it longer than necessary will eventually lead to SOME kind of disappointment. So I'm content! ^_^

  • Is this coming to the american version of Shonen Jump?

  • Not in the monthly book no, but they have been making the volumes for some time.

  • check out my b r amv, its awesome!!

  • Fukuyama-san rocks!! rocks!! roooooooooocks!!
