If masks are forbidden why not wear hijab and claim you are muslims? The police are not allowed to ask people who cover up for their religion to remove that, other than momentarily for the purpose of ID for the police, but then would have to let you replace it. Idea for female anons?

you're legally allowed to wear masks unless the police give a section 60 order (which is meant for extreme circumstances, like a riot), or if asked to by a senior policeman. Did the police know you were protesting beforehand, and that you intended to wear masks?

The Police knew ahead of time and requested no masks because of the intimidation factor to the public, which was also the case in February. Like Ronaldsan says, we were prepared not to push it in exchange for a good relationship with the fuzz :)

What is up with the Police? Do they not know the laws of this country?

In the UK you have the right to be anonymous and secrete your identity unless you are doing so to prevent identification in the committing of a crime.

They are supposed to ask for your identity if they believe that you are committing a crime and using the mask to hide your identity.

We were asked (not ordered) to take off our masks...We complied with the request because we want a good relationship with the police for later protests.

inform the police BEFORE the protest, explain what will happen, why you wear masks etc. tell them you will take of your mask if they ask but NOT IN FRONT OF THE CHURCH.

It's not illegal to cover your face.

You can give them your identity and even a picture of you, but you shouldn't remove your mask unless ABSOLUTELY required. The cult will come after you and they will label you as a terrorist.

This has happened to many others and is not something to be taken lightly.

That's the point though - it WAS absolutely necessary. If we had insisted on wearing masks we wouldn't have been able to protest and that just wasn't an option for us.

None of us takes this lightly and we're well aware of how the church operates. They are welcome to try and defame me - my friends, family and employers are all aware of their tactics.

@MillionthAnon in the uk under the section 60 act u must remove your mask if an officer ranked inspector or above asks you too on supsicion of violence. but there is nothing saying you cant put it back on when they leave. they can only do this on suspicion of violent behaviour, but on the other hand if an officer asks for your name or id you can legally say no comment or just plain no as they have no legal right to ask you for it esspecially now that the stop and search act has been scrapd here
