Placement is important...but this guy isnt concerned about placement at all.

He exclusively hits the same direction as his approach - and his spikes are extremely steep. He has great jumping ability and is not faced with a very good block - so he gets away with it.

Faced with a good block he should adjust to better angles and deeper spikes.
