Like I always said: Halloween 3 is the Halloween film for those who could accept that Michael Myers died in Halloween 2, and is dead, dead, DEAD!!!!
John Carpenter always intended for Michael Myers to die in Halloween 2, that's why he came up with the anthology idea that started with the third film.
By the way, Halloween 4 was the film that really insulted me, where Michael and Dr. Loomis "got better". I did give it a try, and decided to stay away from the rest of the series.
@twitter654 John Carpenter was probably one of the most talented Directors of his time, and was able to skip genres. Some forget that he also Directed Big Trouble In Little China, and also scoring his own movies. He's one of the best all time.
How does this even fit into the series? Let's see:
1 - Michael Myers obsessed, wants to kill his sister and whoever the heck else.
2 - Hey, it's still happening, same night, same story. But still good.
3 - Evil celtic mastermind wants to use Stonehenge bits and his magical robots to kill enough kids to raise Samhain from the dead and what... apocalypse or something?
4 - Michael Myers wants to kill some folks.
5 - Repeat ad nauseum.
Do I love this movie for its ridiculousness? Yes, yes I do.
@workscare John Carpenter and Debra Hill originally intended for this to be an anthology series. The Michael Myers story was wrapped up in Halloween II and now they wanted to move on to something fresh and different. It's a shame really that they were forced by the audience to recycle the same formulaic Michael Myers crap over and over again from there on out.
@molcoo I get that, but I'm not sure I would blame the audience. If the audience wants it, give it to them. But the studios ultimately make the decision to produce, and those decisions are primarily made upon the relative financial safety of the sequel. The movie may stink, but it will draw audience based on the brand name. Yes, that does lead to some stale movie action, but whaddayagonnado?
@molcoo Also, thank you for that info. It makes a LOT more sense knowing about the anthology plan. I still love this movie because it takes me back to a certain place and time, and it's just good fun.
They were suppose to do a whole series of these movies on every Halloween. To bad there are a bunch of idiots in the world that didn't understand the whole Halloween series. Michael Myers started the series Season Of The Witch continued it. The movie goers ruined it because they didn't like it. The first Halloween movie had a lot of budget problems that why they couldn't end it with the first movie.
Shocking truth that some evil people in the U.S. Government have been killing people in the U.S.A. for many years using the TV audio & cell phone radio waves & vaccinations giving people cancer (a slow painful death). It is part of the high level Freemasonry / ILLUMINATI witchcraft sacrifice to their god Lucifer (Satan). The TV & cell phone audio waves trip the toxins in the vaccinations. Many of you have cancer.... sad fact.
Very underrated film. Beautifully atmospheric - in a very creepy way!. Those eery static shots of Santa Mira stay with you long after the credits. Apparently the original scriptwriter was displeased with the alterations made, but I still think it's a brilliantly original premise.
the best Halloween since part 1. For those confused about why Michael isn't in this one, here's the story: Michael died in Halloween 2 as it was suppose to be the final movie with him as Carpenter had enough of Michael and wanted his story to be over. He came up with a concept to turn the series into a big screen horror anthology about the title holiday every year like Tales from The Crypt, Creepshow or Twilight Zone or Grindhouse.
I recently bought the first 3 movies and watched them. Despite what most people say, I found the first one to be boring and liked the 3rd one better. The origial is mostly people talking and some guy with a knife popping out every now and then.
This is one of my favorite Halloween movies.I actually think it is better than parts 4-8.I love Michael Myers but I don't think the Halloween franchise is all that good.
Definitely underrated. Only the brainless idiots who liked seeing the same Michael killings over and over again dissed this installment. H3 is a cult classic!
An under rated movie yes! People give it a hard time because it had no Michael Myers but Ummm..One of the best horror movies of the 80's? Hell no! And the last great Halloween installment? No waayyyy XD! Are you drunk? 4 was amazing!
I do think it's one of the best horror movies from the 80's. I also do think it's the last great Halloween installment. I never cared for anything after III, except maybe H20. Halloween 4 and beyond never managed to capture the same tone and feel of the first three films. Once the John Carpenter connection was gone, so was a great series.
one question how does this have anything to do with halloween ? im just confused because michael myers inst in the movie or at least to my knowledge he isn't in it.
@W4nt3dHB I really enjoyed H20. Admittedly, it's not one of the best installments in the franchise, but it's still vastly better than 4-6, Resurrection, and RZ's dreadful trash. There's a nihilistic atmosphere, well developed characters, a solid script, and some great suspense. Best of all though, the director chose to take a step back from all of the convoluted nonsense of 4-6 and return to the basics, which is what made the first three Halloweens excellent (simple horror at its best).
@W4nt3dHB I agree there. H20 was really pretty stupid and it ripped off the original in spots (i.e. teacher discussion about fate). I think people liked it only because Jamie Lee Curtis was in it.
@samprofit1 H4 was not that amazing since it copied the first one and was very cliched. It was just ok in my book. H3 is my second favorite after the original.
Nice tribute. I've never seen Halloween III but have been meaning to. I just have look at it as it's own thing and not a Michael Myers movie, which is the reason so many fans seem to loathe it.
I enjoy still film till it's final moments with flashing TV. Where seem to turn into a wild ride crashing into a wall.

Season of the Witch is my favorite of the Halloween films, I don't care what anyone else says.
And I really love driving folks crazy with the silver shamrock song. XD

Molcoo, you've done it! You've captured the essence of the film in 1-1/2 minutes.
I wouldn't have thought it was possible had I not seen it for myself.
Well-done!

This is one of the best horror films of the 1980's.
It is way under rated, and most people that don't watch it with a closed mind enjoy it.
Thanks for posting!
