  • Can any one please tell me from where can I download the series,PLease I Love doctor who and I canot find the dvds any where, please.

  • So what are they trying to say, that anyone is better for the Doctor than Martha? With all do respect to the actress who played the Matron, her character can't hold a candle to Martha, but it seems the Doctor is willing to latch onto anyone romantically as long as their White, and not Martha, so why did he bother flirting and pursuing Martha? Also, why didn't he kiss Martha on the forehead or even lick her cheek instead of a lingering kiss than later telling her "that was a genetic transfer."

  • Wow are you saying that the Doctor is racist?

He had just lost Rose and was hardly in the mood to start a relationship with another girl.

If it had something to do with race he wouldn't have invited Martha to travel with him.

  • CrazyonDoctowWho,

Just because the Doc knew that Martha would be useful to him as a companion doesn't mean he's not racist. He completely dogged her and yet every White woman he met previously, during and after Martha he treated with greater respect than he did her. Intellectually, ethically, Martha possesses the highest standards that he's ever had in a companion and he did use romantic tactics to bring her to bear, but then changed his tune later, as if there was something wrong with her.

  • He just didn't want to be with her as he was getting over Rose.

Wake up and stop accusing people of being racist when they are clearly not.

Even the writers have said that race means nothing to him.

  • CrazyOnDoctorWho,

Oh right, and the writers are the one's to ask about whether or not their racists? They wrote that crap in the first place.

The Doctor should have taken that rubber face of his and found a White woman from the get-go instead of using an innocent, intelligent, professional woman like Martha, who, on his best day (Timelord or no), he'd be lucky to find such a woman who would accept him and his madness.

  • All of his companions have accepted his madness and what happens in his life, whether they be white or not.

Why does it matter to you that Martha us black?

It sound like you're the one with the problem dear.

  • To CrazyOnDoctorWho,

My problem dear is that the show didn't have to go there, but they did so with a caveat that the Doc could not possible love Martha. They could have turned it around since Martha has so much going for her and shown that she could never love him. Instead they chose to humiliate and mock Martha. I believe the people who made those decisions are racists in their hearts. Freema herself was not treated very well there either, and she bolted to ITV to do Law and Order.

  • She has moved on and is now getting married to a Doctor and is also a Doctor herself.

She is shown to be doing well, how is this racist?

In S1 Mickey used his brains to get rid of the Slitheens. Hmm now he's not white is he?

You're clutching at strwas and it's damn pathetic.

  • CrazyOnDoctorWho,

There you go again, insulting me when your incapable of defending your argument. You never answer any of the questions I pose, you just attack. So they tried to make it right by giving Martha a doctor as a fiancée, big deal. While the Doctor is feeling so guilty (about nothing I guess), and confessing all to Donna, does he ever consider apologizing to Martha herself? He didn't apologize to Martha in the few episodes she did in Series 4. In fact the Doc barely looked at her.

  • I have answered your questions. You insult me, so why can't I insult you?

Well duh, he was too ashamed to look at her. He felt bad over what had happened.

The Doctor is too old to be racist. He accepts Jack for who he is, I think he can do the same for someone who's not white.

  • To CrazyOnDoctorWho,

The difference between us is that you idolize the Doctor and believe hes perfect, incapable of human racist tendencies; I disagree.

  • Also, the writers of the show wanted to make the audience see that the Doctor wont just fall in love needlessly. THIS showed how important his relationship with Rose was. If the doctor began being romantic with Martha, it would have shown he was over Rose - proving the ending of the last series void and unneeded. Thousands of fans would have backlashed at that and commented on its bad characterising of the Doctor - who always remembers.

  • This could have happened to either a Black or White actress. However, Martha was NOT humiliated. Her ending is admired by female doctor who fans. She got out of there herself - using her intelligence to realise that the doctor wasn't interested in her. It has nothing to do with her skin colour. Mickey was a valuable character, just as CrazyOn mentioned. If racism was taking part, he wouldn't have been in the show at all - same for Martha.

  • If you are serious there's something wrong with you. The Doctor never treated Martha badly. Just look at the guilt he shows over what happened with the master. He tells Donna that he ruined her life and he looked guilt as hell. You're a moron calling someone racist that easily.

  • BurnGorman,

How stupid do you sound? The Doctor seems like he looks guilty when speaking to Donna about Martha, so that proves what? Only that the Doc has something to feel guilty about, it doesn't prove that he's not racist. Although the writers created an admirable character in Martha Jones, they ran into a brick wall regarding the Doc's treatment of her. The writers chose to romantize their relationship and make Martha a joke, that was their choice. Now their reaping what they've sown.

  • It proves that he actually cared for her and he was really upset that he had messed up a part of her life. Are you aware that the writers wrote the character before they cast Freema? She could have turned out black or white.

  • To BurnGorman,

From what I've heard of from the Commentaries on the DVD as well as what I've read from other sources, RTD created Martha Jones as a Black character, so I assume any Black actress given the role would have been treated similarly.

  • Wow nothing like judging people.

I will admit to his flaws. He can be arrogant and cruel sometimes. There I just proved that theory wrong.

The one thing that he is not, is racist. He's too long in the tooth.

He has seen the destruction of his home planet. He's seen people needlessly die. He DOES NOT hold grudges against people for their skin colour. He is smarter than that.

  • The Doctor cant be racist. Racism runs deeper than just black and white people; and the aim of the show is that he tries to help everyone in trouble. If he was racist, I doubt (that the doctor not being human) he would only be racist to human black girls. He would be racist to aliens, species, and anything else different to him. The whole point of racist people is that they either think themselves above different people or are scared of them. By helping others; he has proved he isnt racist.
