That mesquite floating down the arroyo could just as easily be a person or animal. Be aware of the danger.... Thanks for sharing this video. I grew up in Alamo and still remember floods there back in the '50's and 60's.
alamogordo city gov is a f-ing joke. its mostly the white shirts that are the morons. he workers seem ok and talk 2 u when u say hi, theres this one white headed goat thats a azzhole. white kkk looking leslie neilson idiot
the crazy thing was it rained like this out of no where! it was 4 inches of rain in 45 minutes!! remember seeing the funiture floating down the hot tub going down it. the boat that was stuck in the road on scenic!!! and it did that multipule times that year. and fema only gave relief to the homes that were flooded more than once! there was an inground pool in one of those back yards that filled completely up with dirt and rocks!
Damn I was in town but didn't get to see it like this luckily I have a huge truck locked front and rear wouldn't cross this but the standing water is no big deal.
damn i lived ther for a long time and sow a couple of flas flood on th e creek that is going towards dog canyon... has this happen very offten there? i been in south america for more than 2 years now.
I remember seeing something like this when I worked at the old IGA, which is now the 1 800 flowers building on N Florida Ave, about 8 years ago. It made me wonder what would happen if it rained really hard for conecutive days. Hmm...Guess we know now.
i lived in alamogordo from 1956-62. Miraceros dr. saw this sort of thing. i had to cross some arroyos to get to Indian Wells (drug store) for my 50cent cherry coke and grilled cheese sandwich. also, in 1960? it was -14f. Going to white sands once was a solid black cloud and the rain fell allmost vetical when you hit rain, wow. the best storms are in NM. oh, find a big dust devil and jump into the center of it and run w/ it! awesum
probelm is the city engineering allowing new areas to be built without drainage systems. it isnt the workers, but the city hall desk jockies. did you know the alamo drainage dept has only 4 guys year round which do almost everything. then a supervisor of theres is so obsessed with killing weeds to him this above isnt a priority. i think his names andy padilla.
I remember this. June 27th, 2006 I believe. Cause I remember it was a real gloomy day. I live on the north side of town and It was very rainy on the other side of town. I thought well wish we could. Woke up and saw KOAT 7 and thanked the Lord it didn't hit this side of town.
I recall the sidewalk by my house crumbling under my feet the day after this happened, oh such fun!
