well one of the points is that a person who is only capable of good and has no choice is not really a person. people need to be able to choose to make them human. alex`s victims are all too happy to take their revenge showing that they are just as bad as him ( worse in fact as they are not using drugs that bring about violence ). the 21st chapter which is often cut out of the book and isn`t in the film says that alex grows up. he wants to settle down and live in peace. the cycle continues.
