  • I was stationed on the Munro from 80 to 82 ,we were stationed in Honolulu Hi. we made two alpats, a search and rescue to Midway Island, two times across the International date line, Good times the best years of my life

  • And amen to Twowheelin Tim's comment, I was a Fireman Apprentice in Engineering. No wonder I didn't know about this...

  • OMFG, I was stationed on this ship while this was going on. I served under Capt Bibeau and I had no clue this was going on. OMG! LOL

  • ummm no one does line handling in their trops

  • ugh top gun lol

  • this makes me want to join the coast guard

  • lmao top gun

  • The captain's intro is kind of cheesy, but overall I think the editing is pretty good. I liked the UNREP sequence. Those evolutions were always a drag. You managed to make it look fun. Your biggest omission though is the most important department on the ship. The engineering department could run the ship without ops or deck, but neither could survive without engineering. Your loss.

  • Not really my loss, that was almost 20 years ago! The engineers were probably too busy to videotape their exploits, but were topside for UNREP, flight ops, and the morale stuff. They're there in the video, just not labeled.

  • i was on the munro in hawaii from 1982-1984 we were at sand island...was one of the cooks

  • I just read the article about the USCGC Munro's role in that great rescue as reported in Popular Mechanics. Everyone on that great vessel earned their pay ten times over!

  • My husband is on that ship.

  • is your husband still on the munro? my son just got on board Friday and I have not heard from him since...........................

  • Yes, my husband is on the Munro. They are on a private case right now, so they can't talk much. And a lot of the new guys are not aware that they can use the e-mail while underway. Who is your son?

  • BM from Florida

  • Oh that's great! He actually works for my husband!

  • do you live in Kodiak?

  • Yes I do.

  • I served on the CHASE, 1968/71. Your are to be commended on your fine video's. They bring back many memories for all of us old WHEC sailors. Thank you for adding to the recorded history of the US Coast Guard. Semper Paratus.

  • Lol, Welcome to Kodiak Munroe!

  • Sharp looking ship. Very nice.
