  • Isnt this story similar to the same thing the US did to the Native Americans, Alaskans, Hawaiians, Africans, and everyones lese that wasnt white at one time or another?

By the way, you are very beautiful and have a very sexy voice :-)

  • Soooo hot, I barely remember what she was Even talking about , smooth skin luscious lips, Cole dark eyes, omg

  • Blah blah blah HOT

  • ja pierdolę, add to title something like my opinion or... dont know, i rly dont wanna watch ur face if i looking for video with kapo keyword, dont u think?

  • @bpersonaldata This is a film review channel. Everywhere on the channel page this is stated, and the film as well as information on it is cited in the description. The title of the film is Kapo, and these reviews are posted Sunday. The titles of this channel are formatted with the day of the week followed by the title of the film and has been such for over 670 reviews, so the title of this review is correct. You shouldn't watch review channels if you don't want to see reviewers.

  • @TheRoughCuts surprise, in my country full title of this one was "Sunday:Capo", i think that was clear if i write first one, >.>' tępa dzida

  • @TheRoughCuts not everybody watches your channel. Stop being so self centered and get a grip with reality. Damn.

  • @Thomsonicus This has nothing at all to do with being self centered. It is the title of the film. The description of the video as well as the tags associated with it have the actors, director, year the film came out, and title. The name of this channel is a film term. It is clear. If you want to get upset, get upset at Pontecorvo for naming his film as such and choosing that subject matter. Discussion of the work of another has no place for ego.

  • A well done very infornative video. Thanks

  • I wonder how long could holo-industry survive without constant 24/7 advertising?

KAPO in this conteskst has noting to do wit Italian "capo".It's about the "internal police",prisoners who helped the Germans to run the camps.

Look for the memoirs of RIP Alexander McLelland from Australia to learn more .

  • @Bieszczady73

The German word comes from the Italian one, meaning "cap". Someone who has a cap on as some kind of privilege.

  • @MaximKretsch

    Sorry, menaing "head".

  • @MaximKretsch Max. As far i I know the word KAPO comes from KA-cet PO-lice.Kacet means "koncentration camp " in prisoners slang.

But.."The derivation of the word is not clear; according to one view the name is Italian (capo = "boss"); according to others it is an abbreviation of Kameradschaftpolizei and would then have originated among the prisoners themselves. Similarly, it is not possible to ascertain when this unofficial term first came into use."

    Thanks.

  • @Jerzy

Kapo is a today outdated term once used on construction sites for the foreman. When I was a child they used it yet (I'm a native German). I doubt that it was invented especially for the Nazi language as it would have been completely unthinkable to later adopt it for something harmless. And usually the KZ was simply referred to as "Lager" in the SS language (Lagerkommandant, Lagerältester,...), so that, rather than KA, LA or LAG (StaLag!) would have been used as an acronym.

  • @MaximKretsch it' is not a matter of mere philology, that was the language in the camps where there were many different nationalities and that term was understood by everybody and indicated a person (most of time even not german) who abused of uniform provided by the SS to commit atrocities,

  • Very interesting story, I Have never heard of this wonderful woman. Check out Lil Wayne's World. Black Archaeologist animated series.

  • Who is this beauty giving the synopsis to Kapo????

  • wallentin76, you weren't there...so, erm...SHUT IT! you are an ignorant disgrace to all human beings that exercise compassion and pain for the innocent ones who we're cruelly executed in the gas chamber during WW2

  • The gaschambers is a lie...

  • The point is that right at the end she gets remembers her identity in her death throws.

  • Wow she's beautifull! and i love this movie

  • I just looked on Demonoid "GILLO PONTECORVO - KAPO [TNTVILLAGE] (external)" I may try to download it in a few days. The other day I got "Nacht und Nebul" (night and fog) it was very good. I've prolly seen 50 of these films.

  • After this, you need to review a wacky 80's comedy.

  • great review leigh!

  • Great Review. I am definitely going to track down this movie.

    Cheers

  • I always look forward to your videos :). fyi I had no problems with the sound?

  • Kapo was very good. Susan Strasberg gives a great performance, although you can tell in the dubbing that she is speaking English while the other actors are not...

  • Interesting. I never heard of the term Kapo, until now. Wikipedia says it is borrowed from the Italian language.

To the mic, I know on Windows you often have a boost option somewhere in the control panel. But it's ok here, I'm using headphones :)

  • @alienfresh It's an Italian film, and from my understanding not all camps had them, only a few.

I'm not sure if there's a boost option on this macbook I don't change it from week to week.

  • @alienfresh right! "Capo" in Italian means boss, commander .. the Italian language has no K in its alphabet, the letter K was then added to "germanise" the word .. Kapo, was then pronounced in camp with the accent on the "o.". Kapò... The film is Italian (Gino Pontecorvo 1959) was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. Recommended .... a masterpiece

  • @cercopiteco1

No Kapo in German is pronounced on the KA.

  • @MaximKretsch that doesn' matter, so they were called and with the axcent on the final o (french sound)...the language in the camp was the sum of many languages

  • Susan Strasberg has the saddest face ever.

Never seen Kapo. I will see if I can find a copy...somewhere.

  • @PuppyZwolle She really does. The Criterion Collection released it on dvd a few years ago.

  • Your videos are really quiet, I love them but you need to turn the mic volume up on your notebook. Shouldn't be to hard to do, on PC it's easy but I think you use a mac if I am not mistaken.

  • @ascullycom It already is on max when I record :-/

  • @TheRoughCuts this is irrelevant to the actual review: really cool curtains/drapes/insomnia enhancers...whats that object in the corner?

anyway, youre like the queen of classic reviews...also unlike others, I heard you fine on my end...appearantly my computer comes with something called Speakers that have Up and Down Volume buttons. go figure.

  • @MaladaptiveCatalyst It's a very narrow, very highbacked chair. This house is super creepsville, seriously. The curtains cover up the bolts stopping anyone from opening the doors or windows ;-)

Thank you! It always sounds ok on my laptop, and I have the volume at max, so not sure what I can do with it...

  • Cool. Next time enhance the mic.

  • @Spsuperstar I don't know how and most likely won't look it up. It's the mic integrated into the laptop. TBT, I'm not even positive where it is. I think it's next to the camera.
