Hey im 15 almost 16 and i have a stock 2001 mirage es with 58k miles as my first car.

i like it but i noticed it has no get up and go. is there any way i could make it quicker?

And does anyone have any idea how fast it would go at top speed?

Look into doing a Twin Throttle conversion, and while your there do a SOHC to DOHC conversion. A simple ECU and Exhaust and if you want to go overboard, do the Cams and get a Cold air induction kit. That SHOULD get you at leat 180-200 horsepower. Which is rather plausable from a non turbo 1.5 engine. Dont mark my words on the outcome though, it may even be 160. Even so, they are pocket rockets with the right mods.

for a mirage to be bad ass as he puts it, does NOT nedd a swap with a 4g64, thats the easy way out. you just got to know how to mod a 1.8 engine (either all motor, NOS or turbo). were the experts in 1.8 motors and swaps. proof: fastest mirage in the world is here OH so is the fastest subaru wrx. :) PR!!

sickness man. ive been buggin trying to figure out what to do to my 2001 mirage ls. i dont wanna drop 5 grand in it, but dont just want new exhaust. I was just starting to think that swapping the engine with the turbocharged '89 engine was best. What kind of hp/speed am i looking at with cold air, exhaust cat-back, super chip, and new headers?(ill go turbocharged in a year possibly)

strong i also upgraded the axle to stronger 5 lugs to compisate for the 2002 lan evo motor under the hood

mirages are bad ass if u do a 4G64 swap and give it some goodies... im in the process of making a complete version of the Evo GSR. all i wanna know is if its possible making the mirage 4 wheel drive... cause i know u can make front wheel drive eclipses 4 wheel drive.

yes you can actually. all you would need is the eclipse GSX tranny and drive trains "there is a little bit of customization" there are aftermarket kits for 800 bucks to convert the mirage and eclipse to AWD im currently doing EXACTLY the same thing to a 2 door mirage aiming at the evo convresion and that will be LAST on my list of "to dos" because its long and tedius you will have to retune your car aswell good luck

dayum... i better get workin on dat then... but i think its cool how u can get evo conversion kits for the mirage. ima make the interior much like the newer evo... not the newest one the one before the 08's... but man sounds like u did a lot. personally i think the 2dr mirages are like bad lookin wit the evo conversion... idk i guess im use to seeing evos wit 4drs a lot ya know?

i agree with you on the 4dr ONLY evo conversion, mine isnt a perfect evo conversion im only doing engine internals, and minor evo parts (the hood, spoiler read and side skirts) but yeah search around from some DSM GSX engines and get the evo turbo downpipe and turbo manifold, the eclipse gsx engine from what i read ran lower compression so you can run higher boost you can ghetto a boost controller or buy one for 60-80 and get 50-80 hp out of it. but TUNE YOUR CAR lol dont pull a ricer itll blow

its not a standard mirage its a 1.8L 4G93T engine more than likely from a GSR! nothin special really for 25psi....nice pull tho....

There is no standard turbo mitsubishi motor running 7.9:1 compression you fool. 8.5:1 for the older 63T and closer to 9.0:1 in the later models. Why talk if u dont know what your on about?

All 6 bolt motors in the USA have 7.9:1 compression. Also from 92 1/2 to 94 7 bolt motors that are in the eclipse, talon, laser have 7.9:1 compression.

The 8.5:1 compression ratio didn't start until the 2g in 95. All this stuff is listed on the clubdsm website.

1g have 8:1 compression ratio pistons and 2g have 8.5:1. And that's why the pistons are one of the only things that are better on a 2g and an upgrade for a 1g powerplant (beside the throttle-body elbow and the MAF).

LOL what a nubian...J-spec 6bolt. Whats the difference between a J-spec 6bolt and a USDM 6bolt. Ur nothing but honda hype with JAPAN! written all over you. I've had a JDM Evo3 6bolt and a Rebuilt 6bolt from a 1G, telling you now, the one i built was a lot better. Just because its from Japan doesnt mean its better. And wtf is a J-spec anyways. If you ever tore an engine apart, difference between a Jdm and USDM 4g63t is the same. Oil squirters, 7.9:1 compression, same bore same stroke.

its not holly's, and its not swapped. this is a fully built 1.8l 4g93 16v sohc, with microtech.

this run was with the old 70mm turbo.
