  • EOD and ENGINEERS need more credit for what they do...

  • 1:23 That mustache makes you look like a reckless cowboy.

  • Oh shut the fuck up it's a movie his reckless antics is what made the movie it's a movie not a documentary

  • 2:15 = baby bomb :P YES I KNOW ITS A CHARGE DETONATING TO DISABLE A BIGGER EXPLOSION... before you all try to troll.

  • reckless cowboys

makes you look like fucking bad asses

  • only one of the characters is reckless

  • I wish the Marine Corps had EOD, I would be just like Will James. All these pussies saying he's reckless, grow a pair of balls and go out there to defuse the bomb. Will was a badass in the movie, traditionally EOD is boring as fuck...

  • I get what they're saying about the main character of the movie, but did none of them pay attenion to the bigging? The bomb disarming guy that was died at the begining and was replaced was extreemly profesional and cautios about his work, everyone just needs to calm down.

  • Just because the hurt locker main character is wreckless doesn't mean he represents the entire Army/Military EOD troops. That's like saying that Bush represents all presidents and Sarah Palin represents all conservatives. It just doesn't work that way, unless you're ignorant. Go troops, you have our support! Thanks for fighting.

  • Jesus christ. People overreact. It's just a movie. Why dont people bother look at some other artistic elements? And just because the main character is portrayed as a bit reckless doesn't make the movie anti-eod or anti-military

  • @AWESOMENESS55100 Well I hope they portray homosexuals right in the movies, because you'd bust a fuckin nut....fag.

  • @Spocktavian that was incredibly unnecessary and uncalled for.

  • those are the heros whom fight to make my country more safe, I do greetful for them as they put their lifes on their hands and stop these daily killing machine and teach our polica which i proud in falling one of them last year as long as i miss him but he is the myrter of iraq and those hero too they are martyer of iraq before they become to usa, I do greet their families as I was once on feild with them and they ask me to be away to be safe (God please them all)

  • the film was great, you wanna know why? because it was an extreme exaggeration of reality. that's what entertainment is and that's what it takes for dangerous jobs like EOD to get the respect they deserve. unfortunately they choose to pretend that it's serious and proudly discredit it's success by stating the obvious. BUT they have the right cause they're the ones walking up on the bombs!

  • If Ed Burns and David Simon made a show about EOD soldiers, they'd get it right.

  • hmmm.. have any of you critical douchebags thought... maybe these guys were asked their OPINION on the movie?? emphasize OPINION.. which ya'll all seem to throw back at your troops in this video.. so bottom line - all you critics with the negative comments towards YOUR military.. relax.. we are keeping your fat, chip eating heiney safe- and we do it for the guys next to us in the foxholes and for our families NOT for you-- soo.. eat a dick and shut up!!!! xoxo

  • not a soldier or anything but I thought the film was kind of overrated

  • I spent fourteen months in Baghdad as a line medic with an infantry platoon. We worked with EOD on more than one occasion. The EOD soldiers, sailors and airmen we operated with were unfailingly professional, and always cautious. This movie does them a disservice. Further, the portrayals of the Tactics, Techniques and Procedures of EOD technicians was grossly inaccurate. I was disgusted with "The Hurt Locker".

  • Nice video. Hey, I think most people know that Hurt Locker is mostly fictional, but it was still an awesome movie. HL isn't supposed to be a documentary.

  • Why all this criticism? It's not a documentary. If it was it would be shit. It is a movie, and it's good that E.O.D gets recognition they deserve.

  • NewsFlash... It was a movie... not a training film... The Story was the hook, A guy who lived reckless and on the edge so long that it became normal and normal life didn't feel right. IMHO best movie I have seen in years...

  • @Kdog7070

I agree, Great film, deserved the recognition it got. Is it realistic? Is any film realistic?

  • hmmmm Chair Force EOD...no wonder these guys dont share the same traits as the main character who was a ranger lol.....but yes, the movie is far fetched

  • umm I beg to differ about the air force EOD. Every EOD tech regardless of service branch is hardcore. It takes a special person to do this job just as it takes a special person to be a ranger or a seal. And FYI the main character wasn't a ranger he was just an army EOD tech. And I don't agree with you calling them Chair Force either, air force eod is deployed a lot and is always over in afghanistan and iraq kicking ass so maybe you should do your research before you talk.

  • What are these wars about again I forget. Iraq and Afgan End the fighting this is stupid having people loose their lives for stupid beliefs dumb

  • thats why is called a MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!

  • AMEN! Thanks for posting this. As a US Army veteran I thought that "The Hurt Locker" was pure fantasy and marvel at how such a crap movie would garner so many acclaims?! People like the main character in that film wouldn't last a day in the real world army where that cowboy gung-ho hardcharging life jeopardizing bullsh*t wouldn't win any accolades but a summary court martial.............

  • As a former munitions troop in the Air Force, I'm not surprised that Hollywood would take artistic license with EOD reality. But hey, they always do this. Remember Rambo standing up with that M-60 and firing on full auto?? No way.

  • another U.S.A army publicity.... always the same... war movies with a lot of bullets, explosions and people dying..... and the USA SOLDIERS.... the GREAT heroes....always the S A M E ! This do not deserves the oscar....

  • The movie was horrible. I can't believe it was even nominated for an Oscar. Not many good movies this year. As far as the depiction...it was completely inaccurate. Someone like him would have been posted immediately after his first "cowboy" move. EOD is a pretty tedious job and would make for a pretty boring movie had they portrayed it accurately. Enjoy it for what it is, a fictional , exagerated account of reality= a movie.

  • Oh come freaking on. Guy Pearce in the beginning of the movie wasn't a reckless cowboy, so obviously they weren't portraying all in that field as such. Does anyone actually think the main character in the movie is a generalization of all men doing that job? I thought it would be apparent that he's not since the other two going to the sites with him were giving him a bunch of shit about his reckless behavior. The whole movie was about his adrenaline kick.

  • It's still a great movie.

I am pretty sure these soldiers are just under orders to do this by higher ups. To promote a somewhat more professional opinion of the operations over there..

Either way Support the Troops. Come home guys

  • @JimBootstrap Wrong!!

  • What are people talking about? The main character wasnt that bad. Was he reckless? a little bit. But the film allowed you to sympathize with him and in the end its clear that he's a good soldier and he actually saved a lot of lives.

What were those guys talking about? The soldiers werent just a bunch of reckless cowboys. They were decent, if flawed, people. but they still got the job done.

  • AVATAR WAS 10 TIMES BETTER!!!!

  • @2dank

    Agreed

  • @2dank avatar = complete moose balls

  • Hurt Locker was awesome. Who cares if movies aren't reflective of reality? Guess what movies aren't reality. There is no reason a film has to unfold exactly the way "real life" does. People shouldn't confuse films with reality anyway. So just enjoy the movie and if it doesn't reflect you or how you do your job then who cares? It shouldn't have to and it's silly to think a film can be just like real life.

  • @jdlund of course!! people like you who would not care about those soldiers who paid they lives to save more, just because you don't need to defuse bombs like they do. you only live well and say some shit like a coward can say. grow up, kid, you can say some shit like an ass in your mouth after you did touch and work out some explosions!

  • The movie has nothing to do with the soldiers who paid their lives to save more. At all. Hurt Locker is a movie, and those soldiers fight in reality. Is a movie about a corrupt cop suggesting that all real cops are corrupt? No, it's just a story about a particular made up cop who is corrupt.

Do actual soldiers who defuse bombs act like this guy? Probably not. So what? It's just a story about a made up one who does. It's a story. It's not real. Movies do not need to be "realistic."

  • well Im proud to say that I personally know my buddy, best friend and brother Air men- Steve Dobbins in this video. Hes my hero give them hell E.O.D "Total succes or Total failure" As for thoes who dont have a damn clue of what these guys go through pull your heads out of your ass and wake up and "SUPPORT YOUR TROOPS"!!!!!!!!

  • shut up

  • news flash!...former Marine 0331-Mortar man, one tour Jun 05-feb06. medically discharged, screwed by the VA.....Therefore i could say whatever i want. got it!

  • I agree with you. My brother is one of the guys in this video.

  • "The way we are portrayed by the main character of the movie is exagerated and not appropriate."

Nice way to say that the movie sucks ...

I liked, though, how the movie was made technically.

  • In 2004, Mark Boal worked as an embedded journalist with the EOD unit in Baghdad where he spent ONLY TWO WEEKS.

More than likely he was told stories of Fuck Ups that had occurred.

Then wrapped them up into First Sergeant William James (a first class Fuckup)

Where's the Heavy Brigade Combat Team they are apart of.

Three blokes wandering around by themselves ?????

Would have been a top movie if it had a better script.

  • I watched the movie hurt locker with very high hopes. but i really didnt think it was that good. I mean it was by no means bad but with all the hype their was about it i thought it was gonna be awesome, so to sum up i was dissapointed..lets hope Green Zone lives up to the bourne movies

  • Get all the troops out of EVERYTHING... STOP SPENDING and FOCUS ON JOBS!!

  • That has to be the shittiest place to fight a war. Smack down in the middle of the asshole of the world.

  • u got that rite only thing there is oil and we take that right off their dirty hands

  • "The Hurt Locker" is a shit Holly Wood film.

The pussies in Holly Wood have no clue what war's like.

  • @Pvtjamesryan2

if u want to talk about shit hollywood films look at pearl harbor..I mean they just got pissed at the cowboy thing. other than that they did a great job. And other thing directors tend to over exaggerate some parts in films to make the movie (interesting). Because if u want to get accurate then watch a documentary.

  • Most military films are shit. They always portray soldiers as either morons that can't think for themselves or wild cowboys. It's rare to see a decent military movie like Tigerland or We Were Soldiers.

  • @elspoko

What did you think about Saving Private Ryan and Black Hawk Down?

  • I didn't mind Saving Private Ryan. I prefer Band of Brothers to be honest. It had the actual soldiers tell their story, which is something really important.

I don't believe I've watched Black Hawk Down. What were your thoughts on them?

I honestly don't like military movies that just romanticize soldiers and make them to be more or less than actual human beings.

  • @elspoko

Black Hawk Down is very realistic. Similar to Saving Private Ryan (gore wise), but with much less drama.

The movie really captures the commotion of the battlefield and shows what soldiers have to go through to complete a mission.

Like one soldier says in the film, once you have the first bullet fly past you...all the politics go right out the window. All it comes down to is keeping yourself and your men alive.
